Hatoful Boyfriend an otome visual novel/dating sim that features pigeons as characters rather than the more common human anime characters. The player character is a human girl who is attending St. PigeoNation's Institute, and is the only human at the institute.

Alec Meer for Rock, Paper, Shotgun commented that Hatoful Boyfriend is "more a visual novel than a game, but you do get to make a few choices and increase your (human, pigeon-fancying) character’s stats and… well, it’s about dating pigeons. And going to a posh school for pigeons. I would imagine that’s reason enough to play it."

consumers are stupid, but rather than admitting it, the want to turn business people into snake oil salesman and say they got "tricked"

look, no business person is going to turn down easy profit. by being stupid and continuing doing business with ubisoft, ea, bioware, activision, etc, you're just making it easy for them to get away with it.

it's almost like positive reinforcement. they get money by doing bad things, so they'll keep doing it.

the government isn't going to stop it, it's free entertainment. the companies aren't going to stop it. the indie devs aren't powerful enough to compete and force them to change. what to do? simple, really.

instead of making a million cartoons about big bad companies, STOP BUYING THEIR GAMES.

but don't despair. there are people even dumber than the typical consumer, the people who actually think ubisoft/ea/activion are great and provide great products and services. those are the people paving the way for idiocracy and of course they buy things using mommy's wallet.

you can't stop those people. you cna only do your part.

It took me hours of trying (and about two walkthroughs) before I was finally able to "get up/turn on light/get robe/put on robe/look in pocket/get all from pocket/get all" and finally "leave room" so I could start the game without dying! :/\\!!:O:

Even after that, you have to know what to say to Ford, why digital watches are neat, what to eat and when, and what to do in the dark, and I wouldn't have it any other way :03:

But first reinforcements where required to have these Burmese crushed under my boot so had to grab my fleet out of Singapore which was the nearest with Transport capability and have it move some units out of Calcutta to support the stationed forces in Rangoon.

I bought it from Gamersgate when it first came out, their version was 1.02. Its listed over there as the old version, whatever that means.

The same version of Gamersgate like I have when it was still published by Paradox meaning you'll have to get the latest patch from AGEOD instead of looking at Paradox.

IIRC they said one should install the DLC scenarios before the patches. I'm not certain about that, or indeed if it matters at all, but that's what I usually do.

I'm on 1.03e because 1.04RC2 beta has some game breaking flaws (imo)
-Immortal Garrison Units
-Lag on 2 of the F1>F12 keys (hotfix fixes that but removes text on census panel and unit potraits are gone)

Checked ARMA Finland's page and found this screenshot. I believe this was taken before we started our AFI vs. FJT/Osasto Kuikka TvT game, where we had 99 players. Good times.

EDIT: A bit about the mission, as I don't think I've ever mentioned here on Subsim and because it was a good example of how larger ops work.

The mission for AFI as Russians was to attack US (FJT/Osasto Kuikka) positions and capture all three within three hours.

This was a combined arms mission (using ACE), both sides had 2 MBTs (Abrams/T-72B) and 2 APC (Bradley/BMP-2) plus support, HQ, 1 x mortar team, transport helos and of course infantry.

I was the gunner of 1.plt/1.sq BMP-2. Not much happened to us, the mission lasted for 2 hours and 45 minutes. During that time our BMP-2 was in direct contact with the enemy for about 5-10 minutes. Our BMP-2 did take out the radio tower at objective 1 (kohde 1 on the map) with a Konkurs missile. Most of our duties was transporting troops around and reconnoitering.

Our demise can be seen in the following video, recorded by the commander of the Bradley that got us, before our T-72 took it out:

Rought translation as it is in finnish:

- Bemari! (nickname used for BMP and BMW cars) Destroy the Bemari, to the right, bearing 353!

- It popped smoke.
- Cease fire.

We got hit before we knew it, the first rounds penetrated the armor, the BMP-2 caught on fire and Anatooli, our commander ordered us out. We got to about 10 meters from the BMP-2 before it cooked, killing us all.

One of the most impressing things about the mission was our mortar team. Again, we were using ACE, so it's not just click on map and shoot. They got some kills and laid down some accurate fire. Hell they even stopped a flanking attempt by a US recon team!

The mission finally ended, when our transport helo picked up some respawned people and flew over the third objective, parachuting the infantry down and capturing the objective. :yeah:

I managed to hold the bridges! Albeit most of the battle was just ordering artillery to fire on the pinned-down paratroopers, but the Polish and British coming from the south did give me something to think about.

Indeed, a rather excellent game with minecraft-esque blocks about designing vehicles and fighting over an ocean with them. Has some very cool things like engine designing and gun designing. It has some performance issues currently but it's absolutely worth playing.

Edit: Pretty much finalized, not the greatest design, but for my first real try at it, I rather like it.

It made it panic and start running around in circles screaming though, and while it was doing that it wasn't blowing up the Zippos, so there's that. :up:

Of course, the T-64s and 55s which came trundling down the road about five minutes later then tore through the whole lot like a hot knife through butter, but for a minute it was quite impressive and toasty. :yeah:

Totally addicted to Stranded Deep right now. It's only $15 on Steam right now and it's still under development, but it's a fun time-killer. It's basically a Castaway/Tom Hanks simulator, your plane goes down in the South Pacific and you have to survive by diving/scavenging, crafting, figuring out what's safe to eat, building shelters, rafting to neighboring islands, and maybe even eventually getting rescued. It's a somewhat simple, but addicting game. Only negative thing I can say about it is that it currently appears to give you the option to change the controls to whatever you want, but that ends up screwing everything up when you try, so just deal with the existing controls the way they are (for the time being). They are standardized controls anyways.

That picture is just so very very wrong. The M67 Zippos only had an effective range of about 40 meters (60 meters if the weather was perfect). The T80 should have been able to wipe them out long before they even got close to effective range.

The range of the flamethrower is a really minor concern when a B-5 (AKA H-5 AKA Il-28) comes in and drops a single conventionaly bomb that is somehow able to destroy half a town and the majority of the battalion of infantry and vehicles stationed within.

I doubt they could reach 200m. For example even this monster the Livens Large Gallery Flame Projector (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Livens_Large_Gallery_Flame_Projector) only had a range of about 40-50m. This photo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M67_Flame_Thrower_Tank#mediaviewer/File:M67_Flamethrower_Tank_Vetnam.jpg) also really demonstrates both the range, and what happens when you try to shoot too far. Basically its like with water, the fuel tends to break into droplets which increases the surface area exponentially, which causes the fuel to burn out before reaching the target. This problem, plus air resistance & gravity is what gives the throwers such terrible range.

As for the bomber, its because... video games. :D

I understand that the Riverine Force in Vietnam found a simple recurve bow with a flaming arrow to be often times as useful as the Zippo. At the end of the day the flamethrower is more a psychological weapon. But it looks so cool in a video game.

Oh you guys are talking about another Zippo. In Vietnam the Brown Water Navy used some modified LSTs which they called monitors one version had a flame projector which was called Zippo.

Current "special events," fights are kicking my Panzer butt; gonna switch up to the Soviet / American side just so I can get some licks in once in a while.

German tank designer: "A box on treads will work just fine; who needs sloped armor? Commies, that's who! Oh, and just put the ammo for the main gun right there on the side."

I dunno, the StuG is quite nice work if you can get it, I one-shotted a T-34 earlier, hit it in the rear-right-quarter and it went up like a firework.
My glory was rather short lived though, as while looking through the gun-sight and turning to line up on the unsuspecting T-34 in front of my first victim, I drove off the side of the river bank... :/\\!! :dead:

EDIT: Just got one-shotted by an Ug-Lee in my StuG...I shot him, the round went in and damaged...but not enough to kill, and then he shoots me and pop I'm dead....

We had no time, the opposing team had 5 or 10 minute headstart on us. It took us 10 minutes to drive our Humvees over there. We had literally just arrived and werent expecting the enemy so soon. Hell, our blue team was to the East checking out some buildings and were to get back to our right flank before the enemy arrived.

Looks like you got a 3 way junction merged together with the roro station. You probably could clean it up a lot while improving the efficiency. I would suggest cutting down on the number of junctions, and separating the main junction from your roro. I would also set up another refinery too for that matter

I'm loving Project CARS.
It might not be as realistic as AC, but it looks great, sounds amazing, and is far more accessible.
The weather effects are simply amazing.

All in all, if you like racers, Project CARS is a must buy.
I'll probably get it once I make some more money and get a new steering wheel as the last one I had crapped out on me.

Have they changed the driving physics again over the last few months? I remember an update (1.17?) and all of a sudden the trucks had no acceleration and couldn't steer anymore when throttle was applied. That killed the game for me.:/\\!! Yeah the driving physics where changed in the 1.18 patch (although I had no issues with acceleration and steering in 1.17.) so other then getting the black screen error every great once and a while everything seems to be fine, although I don't know if the physics where altered because of the Scandinavia DLC since I don't have that at the moment.

I think that this guy has done a lot for it though, the best ruler of the game so far, he's 74 and still kicking. He's outlasted his wife, his first heir and the Abbasid empire. :haha: So I think that someone made a pact there.... :hmmm:
