Hi Han

Thats a real pain- I thought I was getting somewhere as we have almost got 3.0 running now (great help from makman), although still some ctd.

I just cant work it out, but I reckon that it is something to do with some language difference in the programme somewhere!

Will keep trying.

Crahes in SM and career? With 3.1 or with 4.0?

I recognized problems with some units in Windows vista!
In fact I also made a WAC4.0 vista version... without the buoys and the levensau bridge which caused my vista 64 to crash.
Win XP worked ok for me with all units and default WAC4.0 update.

I have crashes only with 4.0. 3.1 runs fine. And I also have Vista 64.

So, will try to remove the buoys and the Levensau bridge tomorrow. Maybe will find another solution, without removing them.

Yesterday I installed the mod..very trendy! congratulations to han solo and all the peoples involved in its creation.
Actually the first try was a failure, the game crashed before the "Initializing" screen The second time I was successful, I started a career in 1939, 7th flotilla. Before loading I didn't changed anything (crew officers engines ecc). I simply sailed out in my default boat configuration...Maybe the cause of some (if not all) the CTDs reported by other members loading the game is this.

PS: Only fur Schnellbootkommandanten: WAC is probably not compatible with s-boot mod...a secondary install with gwx is suggested for the lovers of 40knot lifestyle.:up:

I dont have any versions of German language on my machine, and am aware that some problems have been caused when the programme had German U, A etc in it, however I think that Han has removed them in the new mods?

Yep, if i remember well , in the readme Han explained that the problems from unusual german letters are now gone.
ach...nearly torpedoed a friendly merchant while coming out from the bunker in kiel...forgot that "return" fires torpedoes here!:damn:

after a reinstall of windows xp pro sp2
wac 4.0 lauch with out probleme but not after download windows xp pro sp3.
try this and tell us,for me it was the right solution.;)

Only some do work with 4.0.

Realisitic Hull Damage will also work. Tested only in training mission, but I think it will also work in single and campaign.

Installed version 3.1 which works fine! (via mod enabler), installed version 4 and then I get a CTD at the initializing screen! 3 folders are making it crash Campaigns, Sea, and Roster all other folders can be installed without making it CTD! looking at the CFG files in version 4 they look the same as version 3.1! Should they not contain extra info for the new units added? Also the Land Folder!

Can you please double check the upload Hans?

7th Flottilla from Kiel! but no i never deleted from the campaign files! How do i do this?

Hm.. .. I will send you some of the edited campaign files for Vista.
Hope it works for your Vista installation as for mine.
If it works I will upload a special "Vista edition" ;)

Missions work allright, academy no problem, but the campaign doesn't want to load.:cry:

In the windows 7 beta, have you tried right-clicking on the executable file, selecting "properties" and using the Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode or "Run as Administrator"?

I was having a similar issue with the gaming freezing at the load bar around where you described. I'm not sure which of those two settings fixed the problem, but I can confirm that after making these changes I was no longer getting these load bar lock-ups. Give it a try and hopefully it will work for you as well.

Had to change the iceberg unittype from 14 to 105, now runs with the version 3.1 campaign files!

Hi men!

@Rick.. no.. this has nothing to do with it. there are no problems with missing or corrupted files. WAC3.1 campaign files work with 4.0 sure, but some new units are missing.

It is only the operating sytem. With XP it runs fine!
Vista has problems with all the high resolution textures... u-boats, land, etc.

I`ll try to upload a version that runs with vista64 fine for me in the evening.
Maybe this will run fine with you also.
Yesterday I also uploaded the file but there were errors in the upload.

So.. next try!

I have the same problem, but with Windows XP. But I see you have an idea of where the problem lies.

BTW, I have just uploaded WAC 3.1 and 4.0 to BtS. I'll do the same for the patch when its released.

Actually XP works fine for me and most other XP users.
At the moment there is only an examination why there are problems with vista and win7. But we will see...

Now I think I know what my problem is. I've upgraded from wac 3.0 to 4.0 that gave me a ctd when loading a carrier. (20% aprox)

Hello HanSolo, hello everybody

I did update from 3.0 to 4.0, without 3.1.

But, inside Data/Land I have all the follow folders:

Prinz-Heinrich-Brücke AND Prinz-Heinrich-Brucke.

I have also: RD-Hochbrücke AND RD-Hochbrucke.

The non-umlaut folders contains only the .dat file.

I have also Windmühle, with umlaut.

All the above mensioned folders with umlauts contains ClassName= . . . with umlauts, but inside Campaigns the umlauts are gone. A reason for observed CDT with Campaigns?

Inside Locations.cfg in Data/Terrain folder the two Kreta Yards contains umlauts, and we can see them in the map during game (if not CDT).

More umlauts inside Data/Roster/German/Land + Sea and Data/Sea folder.

Exemple: in Sea folder we have 2 Blucher folders, one with umlaut and another without. But this one without umlaut have inside only the .sim and .tga files. This means ClassName=CABlücher, but inside Campaign we have only one Blucher, without umlaut, and this one is not complete inside Sea. :doh:

JSGME can't replace, obviously, this type of files. For the programme, they are different files.

Finally, I can't find version 3.1 in Internet, sorry, obviously I am informatics-handicapped :oops:

I wait patch (or instructions) with very big impatience :cool:

EDIT: I found right now version 3.1 inside BtS (very good site). But, I really need to apply 1330 MB compressed volume on the top of 3.0 before 4.0 ???????

Very interesting- what are umlauts?

I find that I have always had ctds with even 3.0, plenty of effort has been made to sort it out.
The 3.1 version starts and runs for a while on mine but still get ctd sometimes when clicking on the map.
4.0 wont run at all, with ctd when 90% through the 2nd load screen.

Hope it gets sorted out as this version is superb when going!

If WAC3.1 is neccessary for WAC4.0 you will get a CTD.

For Vista Users.. there is a vista WAC4.0 version on my FF account available.

Sorry, Han. I tried it and it's still not working. Under XP it works fine, but under Vista and Win7 it still freezes when loading the campaign.:cry:

3.1 to 4.0 works if you delete all your careers. Start a new one and your off to a new sim level. The graphics,details, moving parts etc just blew me away. Just one word that comes to my mind "Outstanding".

Got very slow FPS around harbour with 128 TC and above. This is when viewing the map. System specs XP pro SP3,Intel E6600 c2d,2 gig ram,Gforce 7900 gtx.

Cant wait to get home to reload my patrol nr 2 and continue either to watch the scenery and enviroment or to hunt. :rotfl:
I must admit my first patrol was like I had to have drool rag under my jaw. I just watched for details and if you havent done it yet, man the deck gun and take a look at the animations when operating the gun. I nearly shortcircuit my keyboard. To the team/person and the people around them that made this mod I can't thank you enough.

Now I have a new problem, I can't open the Observation, Attack periscopes, or the UZO. Tried both using the keyboard, the toolbar, and manually via the conning tower or up on deck. I think it's because I used SetKeys, so I'll try putting the WAC 4.0 Commands.en again.

I have been working with NGT about problems with ctd in version 4.0, and I have found a German word (in Red) in the file below (which I understand is ss in English), so maybe this is not helping and needs to be changed.
NB I have installed 3.1 then 4.0 before finding this-

An old Community Unit ship!! they are all working in GWX for me!
Cant understand this!! I will check asap!

Still not working for me! but i will crack it!!

Going through each unit line by line! the only error's that have thrown up for me so far seem to be with icebergs and the new campaign_lnd.mis!

1 Ship is all it takes though! could be as simple as an added space in a line in a CFG file!

If i try to load the campaign files into the mission editor i recieve the following message> "The Unit Class Iceberg From Country Environmental Not Found in the platforms library" this happens with all the Icebergs nothing else.

Hm.. sounds buggy somehow.
I don´t have these messages when going into the ME.
Did you copy an old cmapaign file into the mod or use WAC3.0 and WAC4.0?
Remember you only have to use WAC3.1 and then WAC4.0 on SH3 with patch 1.4b.

Just a some observations.
Benham Class Destroyer got some really strange characters in the information when viewing in museum.
unconfirmed : load some t2 torps pre war makes a ctd.

I tought it had a bug since I was sent to the same patrol grid on my 3rd patrol. Boy I was wrong. I landed right in the escape shipping lane from Gdansk. Is this the Baltic campaign ? I watched a warship hammer a merchant , some stukas bomb some ships. No wonder why many warships and u-boats was heading the same way as my patrol grid from Kiel.

Looks like all the graphics has been redone to a higher level. Inside the sub I guess there are only a few places that don't have been redone.

Details all over the place. Just to mention some of them. Bow spray,wake, water reflection, animations when you use your deckgun, explosion when you hit a merhcant with your deckgun. UZO is gone when you are under water. Lots of new buildings, ships harbours. Man this mod must have taken months to make or even years. All those details. Did I say details again ? (take a breath) yhea details. :DL

I love the spot you have on the conning tower. Very good position to have full control and view. And a very nice touch is that not all the crew has the same uniform/outfit. Brings the game a little bit more alive.

I can't tell you how it is compared to GWX because I haven't tested that one out yet, but from stock sh3 to this one is like two diffrent games.
I feel very lucky that I can enjoy it and bad for those that can't get the mod to work.

Ok, whats the deal with the periscope/uzo problem I have. It only happens when I enable something over WAC. Disable everything except WAC 3.1 and WAC 4.0, and it works fine.

Could it have something to do with commands_en, and what are those commands_en11 files about ?

install xp ,
then do a FRESH new install of a patched (1.4) sh3
then copy (i suggest not to use jsgme) the files of wac 3.1
then run wac4 and you will be fine
(i really don't see the point of having vista (ok,you will 'lose' some ram)....it seems that vista was a fault of microsoft)

Also, it seems a lot of problems, but I agree it may sort out the problem for running wac.

There are so many German symbols even in the vista version of wac- I have found hundreds!

Does anyone know if it would be simpler to somehow put these symbols into vista so that the system can read them within the program?

Maybe that would solve all problems!

Well, I solved my problem. I decided to enable WAC 4.0 last. It didn't even overwrite any of my single mods, and my hotkeys worked just fine(I removed the commands_en files). My last test will be to put the Roster, Sea, and Campaign folders back in. :ahoy:

Also, how do I get the map tools toolbar back. I don't like the tools on the map, I just like the drop down toolbar in the upper right corner.

I've just downloaded and installed your mod and i must say that its very impressive. The level of detail is exellent. I've got a couple of questions for you..

Is the Keil canal navigation implemented..i only see the three different search patterns when asking the navigator to plot a course out of Kiel?.

I'm currently helping Tarjak on the creation of historical emblems for all type 7B and 7C boats. This is based on the mod that privateer made (Turm7c_1_your_way) that allows emblems to be placed in their correct postion on the tower. Can i enable this mod in WAC?...It places a new turm7c_1_hd.dat in the objects folder as well as turm7b_1_hd.dat and turm7b_2_hd.dat. Will this break anything that you have implemened?

I would like to be able to enable this mod in WAC and see the results. I hope it's possible.

My suggestion, if you use S3D, is to import the .tga into the WAC turm dat.

Just a handfull off detail shots.
I've got big problems patrolling Ao98 keeps crashing to desktop. Framedrop from 140 to 2 then it locks and a CTD.

Yes I have, I use SetKeys to customize my hotkeys. So the maintenance screen is working, Hans must have changed the keymap for it.

How can that help in selecting the right compartment ?
Each time I get a flooding I can't repaire it. I mean the entire sub is yellow to orange and only 2 places can be repaired

How can that help in selecting the right compartment ?
Each time I get a flooding I can't repaire it. I mean the entire sub is yellow to orange and only 2 places can be repaired

Oh, I see what you mean. Looks like the crew is now automatically repairing the most serious damage first. I noticed as well that if you click on a different compartment, they stay where they are at instead of moving to a new compartment.

:x I have now been trying for two days to install, i had no trouble installing GWX and other mods in the past but i have now carried out 3 new (virgin) installations. but i cannot seem to install WAC they have been installed by JSMGE and should be running but nothing changes from stock.

Any help would be appreciated

Dave, what I've done, is manually installed WAC 3.1 and WAC 4.0 respectively after reading the post above from makman94. Make sure before you remove the Roster, Sea, and Campaigns folders from WAC 4.0 before dumping the folders into SH3(Until they find out where the problems exists in those folders). Everything seems to be working fine for me since I did that.

The only problem I'm having now, is importing new Uboat skins. Either they don't show up on the boat, or I get CTD. And I'm still waiting for an answer about the Map Tools.

If you are intrested i could upload a stock WAC-GUI without the tools on navigation map and with the toolbar right above.
But remember you will loose the slide things. Only the watch and air/fuel will slide afterwards.

Sorry for delay in replying, just at my house in France now!

I dont think I am going to install xp rather than my current vista, and have not tried the other German version you mentioned since I am still trying with WAC 3.1 and 4.0!

I am sure the trouble lies with the German symbols and I am now going to try makman's idea of a manual install (after cleansing all of the German symbols out of course).

Some of the crew names and many messages are also carrying German symbols even after installing vista version of 4.0.

How are you getting on with it?

One with trouble to lanch with vista ant not the other.
It was just to understand and analyse.
For me i play wac 4.0 on xp sp2 and it' s ok.

Hello

You must not use 3.0 with 4.0!

Download 3.1 1 2 and 3, put them in any folder or just the desk top and then extract just number 1 (2 and 3 will extract at the same time automatically) and you will end up with one folder containing all of the necessary files names 3.1 Final.

Place this into jsgme and install this folder in the usual way.

After this, download and install 4.0 after the 3.1 as above with jsgme.

Only use the vista one if you have vista but be aware that there may be some CTD problems currently for vista at the loading screen or after starting a campaign.

This is being looked into currently by hansolo, myself and some other helpful people here.

Hi all!

Unfortunately there is news with this problem.
Krabb helped me alot in examine this problem and he tried to debug things and solving the preoblems of WAC4.0 and Vista.
It seems that Vista is incompatible with WAC4.0 at the moment because of memory allocation problems which seem to be a new unexplored SH3 bug with a high number of objects.
So.. this might mean a reworked WAC4.0 version might run on vista with fewer details, etc. But this also means a lot of work and a lot of time to spend into this.

Unfortunately I can´t do this!!
For the next few months my priorities will be in real life events which mean a lot more to me than this game (unbelievable isn´t it? ;) )
So there won´t be any fixes or updates from myself. I am sorry!

If someone wants to work the buggy things out.. feel free to examine the mod.

I remember when working with SH3 that a too high number of high resolution textures could bring a CTD, even if they were built into the DATs.
By high resolution, I mean 2048*2048. I don't know if this is the case for WAC4 (honestly, I haven't checked.)

Thanks for the update I and certainly understand that real life has to take priority (Unfortunately!), and this is very unfortunate as WAC is a superb addition, so now sadly I shall have to either get xp or just leave it which is a shame.

What I find hard to understand is why this issue does not affect other versions of the game such as GWX, MEG, U Boat 1.2 since my machine with vista plays all of the others versions perfectly?

WAC has more objects (ships, aircrafts, buildings, etc.) than other big mods and, therefore, SH3 uses more memory. And this leads to problems on Vista, as Han explained.

In my XP-SP3 the mod works well, with no CTD so far and no lagging.
However I tried to enable MFM beta 4.1 (only the British ships (...B), removing M11B, M35B, M36B, NLL, NRC which interfere) and it seems that more memory is needed. (2GB DDR3-1333).

Has anyone else try to enable it with WAC 4?
Another question: Is it possible for XP-SP3 to handle 4GB DDR3-1333?

you can put inside as much RAM you want, without problem, but XP 32 bit can "see" only 3,5 GB. If you have 64 bit XP, this one can "see" much more your mother-board can handle. . . I suppose you mother-board specifications accept the DDR3-1333. . . (just look at the box, or the site of manufacturer)

Finally, I found solution for Vista\Win7!

1. Download 4gb_patch.zip here: http://ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php.
2. Unpack it and run the exe.
3. Browse to your Silent Hunter folder and select sh3.exe. This app will create a backup of it and will patch the executable.
4. Click OK to close.

Extra steps for Vista\Win7 32 (not needed for 64-bit versions):
5. Open an Elevated Command Prompt with Administrator Privileges (see below, if you don't know how).
6. Type "bcdedit /set increaseuserva 2900" (no quotes). You can try values in range 2900-3030.
7. Reboot.

How to Open Elevated Command Prompt with Administrator Privileges in Windows Vista\Win7:
1. Click on Vista\Win7 Start button.
2. Locate the Command Prompt menu item (All Programs > Accessories, or appears in program access history).
3. Right-click on Command Prompt.

thought this was a milestone...but:

i used your method and: finally the game loads! (before it crashed already loading the menu after starting the game) but, the missions itself do not load...ctd at 90% - single missions and career is the same result.

so, as to the fact the editor does not load the mission files at all, ctd... - maybe windows vista has some problems with the objects count? i mean, the reason i installed wac was the high amount of landobjects, which i missed in all other supermods. and as i looked into the mis files...i counted more than 4000 objects, as to 1000 in the stock version or gwx. the _LND.mis file of wac is 3 times larger. but even when i manually deleted half of the objects, i still cant load any mission or career without a ctd...this is really frustrating!

I Have 3 Gig running Vista 32 and WAC 4 will not run on mine without removing a few ships! So you may be correct there! As soon as I added the MFM to GWX3 It would either run with dodgy graphics or not at all!!

thx a lot for your detailed answer. i have vista 32, with 4gb of ram. and 4 gb are allocated.

i understand the problem, but i was not able to solve it completly. after a fresh reinstall of the game, version 3.1 of wac runs fine - even the mission editor opens the campaign files (also the 4.0 wac ones!) now. this is the successful part.

but the update 4.0 does not load. it crashes at 95% of the loading of a mission. i will give it a try and delete manually some hundret objects. maybe this is the clue.

does the update 4.0 run on your system? i wanted to use the campaignlayers with gwx 3.0, as the objectcount (boyes, ships, buildings, etc.) is far more larger, which suites perfect in the game.

Yes, 4.0 update runs fine on my system, with all objects (the Levensauer bridge, buoys, shipwrecks). But I have Vista 64... It seems that even 3GB of memory isn't enough... Have you tried to increase increaseuserva option up to 3030? And forgot to mention that after setting this option a reboot is required.

this is really strange. i tested a few things, but nothings brings 4.0 to work...although i have 4gb of ram and used your method up to 3000. and i also tested to delete units in the mis files - nothing! maybe its something different, as the single missions also do not work in 4.0, there are not as many objects or scripts loaded - and i tested a few, with different boats. only the training missions work.

I found something, perhaps useful perhaps not. I can't check by myself because version 4.0 do not work for me.

Go (if you want:O:) to:

and there is 4 files: damage_0.cfg, damage_1.cfg, damage_2.cfg, damage_3.cfg.

The 3 first files have inside:

but normally the ; before should not be there, I think. :D

Is not there in stock game (so, not in WAC 3.1) and GWX.

Taking out the ; can resolve the problem, maybe? :hmmm:

I'm using Win7 (x64) with 4 GB Ram and WAC version 4.0 unaltered.

Just make sure you reboot after applying the patch. That is all i did.

Hi I downloaded and tried this mod.

My opinion is that the mod is 6.5/10.

There are some anoing bugs.

1.My fire control is not working when I press enter game pause.
2.I can`t enable my stopwatch, and i need her.
3.I beraly made it to change the toolbar to stay in place not to popup
4.buy now my "o" for observation periscop is not working at all and it open my atack scope, so I have to clik in the boat 3D view to select it.
5.Is it the atack periscop square shape?Because when i select it it is circle shape.and opservation per is square shape.
6.I tried to undo the real repear time with the stock rt mod for that problem because I can`t see my crew efficiency, the scale is allways empty.Noting hapend.Whay?
7.I started in 8.08.`39 in 2nd flotila and i demolished 3 subs could not get out off the freakin uboot pen. When i start to exit from the dock my dept under keel was 11 m , but my CO reported that we are taking damage.So the 2 too subs sunk because of the high damage.Whay is that?

This mod is graphicly very nice i must admit, but he is much more Unstabile than the gwx gold.So until you help me with my problems I`l stick to my good old GWx

There are many problems with this mod which are currently being looked into.
The original 3.0 seems to be the most stable currently as long as you have plenty of RAM and a powerful system.

Vista 32 bit systems need a mod (see the previous posts here), but still dont run right.

Good news on the horizon...

So far I have a stable version which will be still tested by some members.
Many files have been deleted and reworked with the help of Krabb.

So... you can expect a new full version (is necessary) with several fixes and much more stability than in WAC4.0 :)

ETA is unknown... still some tests are needed.

All in all it is a good mod but maby you should make an boats damage model more like in NYGM, so that he sinks, and not to be destroy so easly.I read the manual but did not find any explanation on damage model (boats and planes)
I would appreciate if you make a manual that contains some info about those topics.I don`t wana comapre your work with the NYGM and GWX work, just wana to say that those are the things that I wana know , things that maters to me.
You hawe made bases so real but i had a big problem to get out to the open sea.Every time I start to exit I would sustain so much damage to my boot that in two times he sunk.
So i`m a man who thas not care about the base look (i start my patrols at sea) but I do care for the al behavior and the amount of damage wich he and I could withstand.
I also think that the stopwach is a must in sh3 because of the easily contacts speed mesurment.The tool bar that is in auto hide mod, is problem for me because i like to hear german voices in the game but i cant look every sec in the bar to se distance to the target and so on.I like when it is always visible so i can track info at ease.
At least that is my opinion.

So how should i install the 4.0 version? here are 3 3.1 version files and one small 269 Mb 4.0 file. Should i install the first three 3.1 files and after the 4.0 file? Which version of SH3 need i to install WAC? 1.4b?:06:

maybe it is somehow necessary to rename the archives, the files should be named:

WarAceCampaign 3.1_final.7z.001
WarAceCampaign 3.1_final.7z.002
WarAceCampaign 3.1_final.7z.003

Then only extract the first file (others will be automatically extracted)!

Installation:

1. All files have to be from 1 server !!! (Filefront for example) http://hosted.filefront.com/HanSolo78/

2. Download and install 7-zip from http://www.7-zip.org/

3. Put all 3 archives (WarAceCampaign 3.0 final.z.001, WarAceCampaign 3.0 final.z.002, WarAceCampaign 3.0 final.z.003 on the desktop

4. Left mouse click on the first part 001, then right mous click -> choose 7-zip ->extract files-> "ok"

5. Now there should be a folder called "WarAceCampaign 3.0_final FULL" with a size of 4,41 GB

6. Enable the mod via ModEnabler and wait about 15-25 minutes (many files) or wait until your Harddisk LED is not lightning always

That should do the trick ;)

Then ad the 4.0 v on top of it.

SH3 stocl +1.4b patch neded firts.

Surely you mean 3.1 not 3.0 before adding 4.0? If you have Vista 32 you will have many problems!

Hello all,

This is from the Readme of WAC 4.0:

Um den Mod korrekt zu installieren ist nur die Basismod „WarAceCampaign 3.1“notwendig.
Alle Dateien sind ausnahmslos über alte Dateien zu kopieren.

To install the mod correctly you need the base mod “WarAceCampaign 3.1”.
All files have to be copied over older files.

I have created the new wac vista version for the last 3 weeks and until now not much is missing... but still some tests to go. I have hopes that things will come to an end.

but there is no harbour on that spot.
I have looked in de Locations file its also not there.

Kiel - Koningsberg I am in late September 1939.

I suppose you add a Navelbase but not a harbour in the locations.cfg
The only thing I found is a city nr. [.578]

I am looking forward to see you next update

WAC 4.1 features:

Trains in harbour.
Armored vehicles.
Moving cranes. Moving cranes on rails.
Cars and trucks are moving too.
People walking around harbour.
Huge (realistic) ports, ships, buildings, landscape etc. etc.
Sluices (see images). Vertical sliding gate or valve to regulate the flow of water in a channel or lock.

Just some features that I have seen in port. My compliments to Hansolo concerning this huge supermod! :up:

yes ,can be done compatible but it needs a lot of work and...time ! if Hansolo provide a list with the matches of ships (meaning ... to analogy ship's of wac with ship's of gwx3 )(sorry for my ...english) and the left ships(the ones that doesn't match with any ship of gwx) are not many then it is possible to be done ! but i am not 'in' for that becuase this job is a torture to be done by one person .i have write the procedure at the thread ''masts and lengths adjustments'' for everyone who wants to try it, and as for me i can help as much i can with infos but i will not concern to procedure of finding the values

about the gui you are talking ...you can run Olc's gui 127 with WAC.I think is NOT a good idea to use Olc's gui with wac's slide out dials (can be done).Olc's gui is flerting with perfection as it is ! if you add these wac's slide out dials you will have troubles with the officers's orders.a solution that might like is to use Latemails's dials with Olc's gui 127 ,they are a little bigger and you will not have trouble 'reading' them

I will also look at your notes re ship lengths and mast heights to ascertain the ammount of work required.

Every supermod has it specific charm. It is not easy to give you an answer, some people like NYGM or LSH3 ... others only like GWX for example.

It's a matter of "taste", I personally like WAC very much (testing it right now), but I would never say to uninstall GWX if you are happy with it!

If you want WAC, use MultiSH3. (Don't know if this works with Vista too!) Look further on this forum concerning MultiSH3 and Vista 64.

1. Make a copy of a clean SH3 1.4 version.
2. In this case you always have a clean SH3.
3. Rename the original folder to SilenhunterIII-orig.
4. Rename the copy into GWX.
5. Rename another copy to SilentHunterIII (this would be your WAC).
6. Do not use MultiSH3 with WAC ... my personal experiences.

In the above case you can install multiple installations of SH3 and keep the original (SilenhunterIII-orig) folder. If you want to delete for example WAC, just delete SilentHunterIII and you still have your -orig folder.

You would not mess up anything when using MultiSH3. But I would suggest to start with it (MultiSH3), when your current GWX patrol has ended.

I have (or had), GWX, NYGM, LSH3, WAC and the original SH3 on my HD. :yep:

Further to the above, WAC wont run with vista 32 bit (you must have 64 bit or XP).
Han says he is working on a version for 32 bit vista but it will likely not have all that this version has to allow it to run with the limited memory allocation of vista 32.

Could be, Hans hasn't told us it has been released yet. Either that, or you aren't using 7-zip to unpack them, and you only unpack the 001 file. As long as all 3 are in the same folder, 001 will automatically unpack all 3.

I had done the same mistake. The 4.1 files up there are the beta version w/ password protection. We have to wait for the public release, could be any day now :ping:

THE XP VERSION WORKS UNDER WINDOWS 7!!!!:woot:

I just installed it and test-fired under Win7. New campaign, Kiel, 1939, Start Mission and... it worked. Great release.

I had a feeling it would. I've not heard a single complaint about W7, I think it's more stable than XP. I'll be in line when it's released, definitely.:D

Hi Han,

In the presentation of WAC 4.1 on your site you write:

"Over the war years there are more than 45 events offered to the player in which he can take part. These historical events are improved by a special radio report mod which will inform the player about these events and other important historical data if he is on patrol."

Is this special radio report mod included in WAC4.1, or is it separate? If it's separate, where can I find it, because it is a must for getting the best out of WAC.

Congrats to Han and all with this long-awaited release!

Vista users may try the 4Gb patch with this version (see posts 1122792 and 1123736), so you don't have to wait for the Vista version (which will have less enhancements compared to XP version anyway).

Due to an big fault an annoying bug was introduced du to OHV2, which was not impleneted good, the hydrophone is destroyed.

I will take WAC4.1 offline for some minutes and reload the files!

Hi Han

Please add me to the vista testers list as discussed before!

For me 32 bit system has never allowed WAC to run at all without many ctd, mainly on the load up screen, which we thin is due to memory allocation with the higher requirements needed for this version compared to others.

Looking forward to this very much!

Where did the files go? I d/l the first, after about 3
hours, got about half of the second, another 3 hours, then it stopped and the files disappeared from FF. It was painfully slow.

Well, as soon as it's up in SHMF, you won't experience slow download speed, only by the limits of your own connection. :03:

I tried WAC 4.1 today, looks really amazing!
Ports and especially sub pens are just perfect.

Got one CTD in museum watching german planes (not very important for me anyway), but career working well.

This can be a bug from the SH3 resolution fix. Try to disable it (or use mouse interface, or press these keys with ctrl, shift or alt).

Hi all,

maybe I´m just stupid, however I don´t find all the download parts. HanSolo´s homepage leads me to a link called Filefront 1 where I downloaded the first part (450MB). The other link, "Filefront 2" leads me to Filefront, but there´s no downloadlink but just some ads.

The "subsim" link only leads me to another, obsolete link of version 4.0.

A little confusing....any help for an old mariner?

I think Han is still uploading the rest, the files are pretty big, so it must be taking long.

Thanks for heads up Hans! Sorry about all your difficulites after so much hard work. Possibly a problem with 7 Zip? Could you try just RAR them instead or is the compression poorer?

Might have something to do with the cache or something. Sometimes when I have deleted files, then upload them using the same identical file name, the upload is denied. I slightly renamed the files and presto, upload complete. Just a thought Hans.

Actually there are no problem with the archives... they ar ok at my Pcs... but if I upload to filefront I get an error message if the upload is complete.

Now I use different hosts and 2 pc systems to upload and speed up teh upload process!
