I like the sea very much...no....very very much. At nighttime its pretty much how I rememebr it. The "glow" around the boat is near perfect....should get darker quicker if no moon but thats a small criticism. The reason for the glow is incidential light reflects of the sub onto the water around it, thats why they're visible...same effect with a sledge on the snow in a whiteout...can't see anything except some snow texture around the sledge. hope you pass on your tweaks to OLC as it would be really great to use his OLC Gui and Environment with this mod.

I'm not very keen on the gui but i do like the fact that everything slides into view, allowing a clear screen. Love the big dials too.

Didn't notice the sub pitching down vertically when diving as the rocking, the effect might be there (aka saussages) but not noticeable due to general sub rocking motion.

I'm only in Aug 1939 so more feedback as things start to "hot up".

The contact colouring may not be so simple. It seems that a number of tga files will need replacing with those from GWX. Do you also have GWX on your computer?

We will release a mod for this soon!

It does work as is with WAC but changes the default NYGM interior to the Bordinstrumente version. Personally I like this better but some of your customers may not.

What I don't like is that the hatch has a luminous yellow semi-circle around part of hatch circumference. DD's mod doesn't do that when applied to GWX based installs.

Actually we do not plan to update the mod in the near future with other versions.
Maybe we do a new version anytime. We will release a hotfix coming next, correcting some small bugs and some small add on mods like contacts all grey or contacts all grey without tails.

got it....

I have a prob with the IX/2 tower. Only 1 AA gun is firing (the one who is a bit higher close to the tower). I only managed to autofire the 2ndairy AA gun when i manually emptied the 20 stack loaded but its only working while under attack.

I done... i just add the DivngDuck's Open Hatch V2, to add the open hatch into Type XXI and the yellow interior lights, works fine.

The main problem is it change some interior textures, your own, or the UWAC textures, i am working to bring back my textures now.

And yes i have the yellow ring too, but not too much visible, i can survive with it.

I am surprised what a wonderful is this version of UWAC !!!

I think your problem may be caused by WAC allowing you to select more crew than the game will actually permit.

There is a revised basic cfg file to return crew selection numbers to stock levels:-

Haven't used this myself, but hope it will enable you to start a career

the repair times have been modified to be much longer, but there is also an option to use the stock repair times ;)

hi again!

we adapted a version of Nvdrifters repair mod! so the side effects are unfortunately still present. but if you wanna get rid of these the only possibility is to play with stock repair times.

No, but this a side effect of the longer repair time mod.

Yes, i am using my previous intall basic.cfg, a file from 22/july/2006, i was having more than maximun crew, and when attempt to start the mission i receive a message "Too many crew, go to barracks" or some thing similar... but NOT CTD.

I forget to comment it to HanSolo, sorry...

Sorry to hear you still have problems.
That file should replace the Basic.cfg file in data/CFG/ folder.

Where did you put it ? And how did you install it ?

Hi, i hade a stock version of sh3 and ptach 1.4b and moved the ace mod folder to C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\ACE\SilentHunterIII\MODS
and then used JSGME to activate it.

and i have an GWX mod to that is on C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII

maybe they conflict somehow?

the gwx version works perfect and it was the first one i did.

The original 3.0 Basic.cfg caused to me some times the warning message " Too many crew... or too many petit officers...go to barracks".

The green bar of crew appears full and the number exceeded, in example 11 of 9, but not CTD, simply an advertence message wich do not let you to start the mission, but easy to solve going back to barrack and reducing number of crew.

Then i changed it for that used on my las installation, a blend of personal taste and a older version of UWAC.

The file i am using not cause any more problems.

About my interio...

I was using... up to the apperas of V3.0 ...Oak Grove interior textures, 400m Depth gauge Mod, Instrument Fix Mod, made this last 2 for captain Americas...

Plus i was using a special mod, made by Captain America, wich fix the Dive Plane Needles position, to put them both in concordance with the water strem flow... he made it specially for me, i think so he never release it... look at it.

With Captain America's Fix:

But UWAC 3.0 contains Open Open Hatch Mod V1, i added the last version V2 and works fine, but this mod do not contains my previous mods.

I attempt to still using the 400m Depth gauge mod, but when i change the sub files with Crush Depth Mod... the game crashes, Crush Depth Mod is so good, to change crush depth, range submerged, range surfaced, spedds for those values and sub draft.

I am using an extremelly abundant moded textures, but based if not remember bad in Oak Grove interior oxid/caustic textures. But i added changes lot of times, soe times simple parts of the texture.

In example... here a Tyep II texture, Type II has some instruments dials, flipped, then i erased the nimbers on the dial, to no make it too evident.

In this Tyep IX texture, in example, i changed the radar dial, made it in green/red... plus i changed the clock and the compass rose dials, and the radio dial too, i picked up them from another textures and paste over Oak grove texture. I was enforced to roll back de depth meter from a 400m to the old 260m.

The main problem in this i found on UWAC 3.0, is the 400m Depth Gauge mod.... and the Instrument Fix, both from Captain America, they demand the modification of the interior files, then if i use them, i loss the Open Hatch mod.

And, when i use the Crush Depth program, to modify the files, then i have a CTD, it is sure due to the files was managed with Silent 3Ditor.

Sadly when a files is touched by Silent 3Ditor, you cant use any more the good programs we had form early age...

I need to edit them manually... i do not done it yet.

Here some of my interiors... you can see they have the yellow light of Open Hatch v2, wich fixs the problem with the Type XXI conning tower into the repair station.

Sad... :dead:, i have books wroted by Kaptain Johann Spiess (Spieb) where he tell about the dangerous british sub waiting for them, when they go in mission and when they back home.

He tell how they luckylly evaded a british torp incoming from one of those subs.

I do not attack him, because i was in very shallow waters to evade his torps, but next time ! i will put a fish on it ! :smug:

As mentioned on Diving Duck's Open Hatch thread, here are some further details of the problems I found when testing OH_V2 with WAC3.0.

My test setup was Stock 1.4b + WAC 3.0. No mods were added except for Mush Martin's brilliant MBFL. This reduced single mission loading time for each mission from 6.5 minutes to 29 secs :sunny: .

Using the Scapa Flow Single Mission, I loaded every submarine type, for each year and checked the screen displays both inside and out. For the internal inspection I used Shift+F2 and 'walked' around everywhere looking for any problems.

In most cases I didn't find any. OH_V2 plus patches worked perfectly.
However, I could not open the VIIC-41 or VIIC-42 files for 1944 and 1945. My computer just locked up.

I was also unable to consistently load the Type XXI for 1943-5. In this case, there was no lock up but I got Microsoft error reports and had to shut down the game.

It seems that these errors are caused by WAC3.0 not showing any late-war radars.
I did check out the OH_V2 patches with NYGM as WAC is loosely based on this. They all loaded correctly and showed the side mounted radars working properly.
However, My version of NYGM has only 4 versions of the Type VIIC towers and WAC3.0 has got 5. So, I guess that is where the problem lies.

Initially, at mission start up... i have not problems, the problems appears afeter some minutes of play, and after use of time compression, and swithch between stations.

At mission start up, the items are not missed.

Diving Duck make a fix for WAC 3.0... and works fine, no more items missed...

Happened to me on a type VIIC 1941.

Te problem goes off in two ways...

1] Using the Diving Duck Open hatch V2 Fix for EAC 3.0 users... (these files contain the new 3D interior for type VII)

2] Installing the Open Hatch V1 files for type VII, (those used by WAC 3.0) but these files contains the old 3D interior for thus sub. Nice interior too, with no yellow interior lights, and a very clear (noon dark) interior illumination...

I think so the missing interior items is caused by the new 3D interior on Type VII intoduced by Open Hatch V2 previous the fix.

Downloaded and installed, all seems to be fine except for an strange issue, my sub is literally blasted by any near exploding ship... and not so near, iwas blasted and killed by an BB exploding far than 1km.

I was looking the files, and amorforcemultiplier and fuelforce multiplier and explosion range are same, plus your new .zon files make more strong my sub...

I cant understand... :hmm:

Downloaded and installed, all seems to be fine except for an strange issue, my sub is literally blasted by any near exploding ship... and not so near, iwas blasted and killed by an BB exploding far than 1km.

I was looking the files, and amorforcemultiplier and fuelforce multiplier and explosion range are same, plus your new .zon files make more strong my sub...

I cant understand... :hmm:

I testet in naval academy with the deck gun and everything works fine.
If you wanna have a realistic hull damage of your sub... I have uploaded an extra AddOn called "Realistic Hull Damage". Should be fine for you because it makes it a lot of more difficult ;)

Reinstalled the game, and applyied the data folder over it, problem seems to be off, but with your new files i still having problems to open some missions with determined submarine types. :hmm:

just to say I’m one of those people that the game always crashes on me as soon as the Word "initializing" goes away, all i see is this big round Dial bottom right corner, and suddenly game crashes, tried installing 4 times, and each time same thing and same place,

tried different sound drivers and graphic card drivers just in case it was a driver error, but no go,

although stock Silent hunter 3 1.4b works fine and very stable,

tried NYGM 3.0, i get CTD's
tried GWX 2.1 worked ok, but way to hard, to real for me, i like the map updates, and i like the colour coding, yes it's easier, but i find that fun,


i was gonna keep at it with GWX, but then i started reading the notes concerning the mod, i wasn't impressed, there were loads of things one can't do, don't save near land, don't save near enemy, and the list just went on and on, for me, too many restrictions, i even saw this in the forum somewhere,

I had problems with this as well, but I've learned to follow these steps and the issue is solved:

1. Leave the boat on the surface and stay in the control room screen facing the helms station, as when you start. Use "save and exit" and create a new filename for each save.

2. Make sure there are no visible contacts, and move the time at least 30 minutes if you just sank a ship or downed a plane. Do not save near land.

3. Do not add or remove any mods or change any files in SH3 after the save. That includes SH3 Commander Files if in use, uncheck auto roll back.

i just want a mod that makes the Stock game have more ships, and more going on in the world,
i'm surprised that UBISOFT didn't think ahead, obviously back in 2005 they had to be careful, too much going on in the world make the game unplayable on most systems, but they should of put in some options to allow people who play in 2007 with far superior technology to up the ante,

not sure why mods like to crash on me in silent hunter 3, but i suppose some are unlucky i guess

like i said though, i find a lot of MODS seem to crash my version, and yet other people say it's great works fine, weird,

oh well, keep looking.

all i'm after is Stock silent hunter 3 but more stuff going on in the world, more ships,

i find the seas are quite bare, and sometimes there's nothing to do, but apart from that stock silent hunter 3 is ok for me,

i also noticed that ships do not respawn, so the more one kills, the less there are in the world, again, means even less ships in the world, not fun,

i got it from filefront

sizes are

4.40GB size 4,733,210,854 bytes

9,784 files, 572 folders,

using 7zip 4.57.

like i said, it wasn't just this mod, i've had others that seem to cause CTD's,
so i'm not that bothered, i remembered playing silent hunter 3 about 2 years ago, number 4 came out, saw my mate playing it, had a small go myself, decided to give number 3 ago,

and hold and behold i'm experiencing what i was 2 years ago, although it was grey wolves then and NYGM 1.1 i believe,

to me the engine in silent hunter 3 is unstable at best anyway, and there isn't any SDK tools from what i've seen that can check files, so after modding a utility could be run that checks the basics to see if any mistakes can be detected,

some games comes with scenario editors that have the ability to check the files when finished, the big one that comes to mind is "PARADOX" games,


if anyone knows of a small mod that just makes the stock game a little more difficult, prefably more ships, and ships that respawn which would simulate ships being rebuilt.

The no CTD installation HAVE NOT INTRO FILM AND LOGO.

...data/Movies/Intro is empty because I hat removed the Intro.wmv and Logo.wmv files.

I did the same in the other 3 and MIRACLE they works !!!

The most strange is, that CTD occur after playing -without problem- the logo and intro film, and after the download of the game, in the menu interface.

Sorry if all that are useless for most/all of you, but we never know, perhaps somebody, somewhere :roll: . . . .

If you want to, you could try WAC 2.15. I could upload it to Filefront for you this weekend. There is a lot of downloading you'll have to do, and uploading for me because you need both WAC 2.0 and WAC 2.15. I have them both on CD, so if you want to be patient, I could do it for you, unless someone else already has it uploaded somewhere.

SH3 will start quite happily without any of the movie files.

In fact it will even run when the complete movie folder is missing!

Are you using MultiSH3 for each of your separate installations?

There was some Window Media 9 Codecs around there, i remember this from the very early days of the SH3 forum... use browser to found them, i remember without them, game crashes... not sure if this can help. :up:

The game may crash by small things, some times a file you added calls for something and it is not there, because the blend of mods, and game crashes.

If you use SH III Comender, take in account, the prgram stablish some files as in use or some thing like it, the program make an "override" or "bypass" of the installation files.

May be you are installing new files, and SH III Comander is still using non compatible files.

I am not user of SH III Commander, i do not know if you can roll back files, sure you can, but if you have too many mods, may be you not be sure how you will finish.

Good time to uninstall and make a fresh install of both programs... SH III and SH III Comander.

Try a fresh install, back up you data folder if you want to turn back.

uninstall the game, DO NOT forget to erase the SH3 folder into "my documents", defrag you hard drive... a good time to do, make a fesh install over a just defraged hard drive, install official patch... intall WAX 3.0 and it fixes.

Sure will work, make all you personalized changes and then reinstall SH 3 Commander and use it.

sorry i haven't posted, i had to put my dog down yesterday, been in a state, bad way, got drunk stayed at my sisters last night, i had a jack russell terrier, more terrier then jack russell, she had CHF (Congestive heart failure), she was still strong, but her caugh was getting out of hand and i always promised i would let her go happy, and in a good way, i've seen so many pets over the years being draged through with drugs and steroids and god knows what i else, i wasn't willing to put her through that "missiletoe" meant far to much to me to do that and deserved a pieceful sending of not a painful one (here come the tears again).

it was a sad ordeal, something all my experiences and all the things i have learnt did not prepare for this moment, but it's over now, hope it doesn't take to long for my brain to stop getting emotional,

as for WAC, no that's alright, i'm just one person, don't go through that trouble on my behalf, besides, with my luck, there is a strong chance 2.15 would cause CTD's anyway, not that it would be WAC to blame, far from it, would be my luck at fault, like i said i just seem unlucky when it comes to silent hunter 3,

besides silent hunter 4 is in mainstream support at the moment, and hopefully some one will create a mod that extends the campaign time, 1943 to 45 is a little poor considering SH3 had a time frame of 1939 to 45,

Thank you for the answer. Yes, I use MultiSH3. Bigboywooly suggest using a single folder in {My Documents} but I cant manage this solution. The cfg files of every installation are differents (main.cfg, realism settings etc) and I scare...

Hi NGT

I'm sure the single file option suggested by BBW would cause problems if you are using MultiSh3 on several different versions of SH3.

That option is designed to be used if you have just one supermod running and wish to manage separate careers within that single mod only.

If you want to have separate supermod installations running at the same time, you will need to install MultiSH3 in each one.

I've got about seven different SH3 versions on my hard disc. Each one has its own save file in my docs and they they all run completely independently without any problems.

Don't worry about the codec thing. You did say that the CTD's happened after the intro movies ran. If you had a codec problem, the movies would not have run properly.

Hello boys!

It has been a long time since I have written, as everyday life has become too tough!

Anyway I just bought my new PC with E8400-3GHz DC/ 2GB DDRII-1000MHz / SAPHIRE 4850 and the SH3-WAC now is played as it should!
Nevertheless I have a couple questions:

1. From Mirror 2 (FF) what other files do I have to d/l (e.g. TEXTURE fix??)?

2. What about SH3Commander?

You can install additional mods for WAC 3.0 if you want... but you only need the 3 WAC archives to install and play!

SH3 Commander should work but repleces some files... so I would start with wac3 only to look if it´s running fine.

Sorry to come in late on this one RR.
No renaming of files is necessary. Assuming you have a nice new 1.4b install waiting with a Mod folder created by running JSGME, all you need do is to right click on 001 and drag it over into the mod folder.
Select " Extract here " from the 7Zip drop down menu, and the whole shebang will decompress into the Mod folder ready to be installed with JSGME.

Well, it seems that I will have the time to play some SHIII-WAC and I want to tweak a couple of things! So, please if someone is so kind to give some answers, I have the following questions:

1. What is the coordinate system of menu.ini in order to rearange the four right hand big dials to another place of the screens?

2. How can I reduce their size to 1/2 of it?

3. How can I make the orizontal menu and dialog bars not poping up but constantly displayed?

I would appreciate any help!

It said all ships sail in and out of harbours. Is my memory correct? And is this also the case in WAC3?

(I checked the WAC3 homepage but it just lists "harbour traffic" as a feature - I couldn't find more details)

Also, last I heard, WAC3 had German-only radio messages IIRC. Has anyone translated the radio messages to english yet?

yes, almost all ships end and beginn in harbours in wac since wac 2.15 this feature is also in wac 3.0. in stock sh3 and maybe other mods the last waypoints of ships have almost always been in the area of the harbor. the disappeared somewhere. we changed this and detemined the last waypoint into the harbours and the starting waypoints also! so it would be great to intercept convoys at harbour entrance but because of the engine limitation this is not possible (spwan problem).

the radiotraffic has been partly translated. unfortunately the commander messages with specific radio traffic of operations are not implemented.

if someone is interested.. I managed to rework the low sea states of our real atlantic mod and if there is interest we could release it seperately for wac.
also we did a small addon for the salamis habour to get it historically correct.

First: love the mod! Thanks so much.

I am however running into the "frozen gauges @ 12o'clock" issue. I've tried saving and reloading; no go. The only thing that gets rid of it is starting a new patrol.

Type VIIC starting from St. Nazaire in '42. New install of SH3 and just WAC + texture fix installed via jsgme.

I also noticed the fumo antenna is out of place on the conning tower.

XP, Core 2 duo, 2gigs DDR, 8800GTX.

I noted the St. Nazaire hotfix in the first post but the link is broken. I'll try starting from another base and see if it makes any difference.
And the solution is?

Use Antialiasing in your graphics driver or the resolution fix for Sh3.
I use both of them ;)
Looks stunning in 1280x1024 and 4xAA enabled!

i tryed this mod. I can do all stuff in the navel academy. but when i try to start a campain it CTD, anyone know whats might be wrong? I have the patch and the mod file is 4,43 gig

I found this also, ie naval acedemy fine but ctd at new campaign.

I reckon any changes to the crew numbers from the start figure cause a ctd at the start.:dead:

try to load the museum and have a look at all units.
game crashes after 90% of loading have often to do with errors of unit installation or something similar.

I have had this problem right from the start and am currently still trying to resolve it despite re installing several times.
My WAC file size is correct at 4.4gb (4.43 on disk).

If you find a way of sorting it, please let me know too!

take the env files of wac3.0. it could also run without it..but you could get a black sky... don´t know.

Hi HanSolo, I did try without the WAC env files and indeed got the black sky you mentioned, it looked quite apocalyptic.

Did you ever think of installing anouther environment mod.:yep: The bug fix was causing it, the game crashed when I put it on WAC. (ya think theres a way I could put the wave model in GWX, WAC has a vary nice wave system.

That's odd :hmm: I didn't have any probs with the bugfix. In fact the game crashed in at least six places without it.

Yea, it only happens in the campaign.:yep:(bad campaign file?) Works fine without the bug fix, I ran a campaign mission out of Kiel and everything went fine.

i have a problem with wac3.if i try to load a single mission or campaing the game crash (the training works fine) . when i enable the empty campaign mod the single mission works ok, so i guess that the problem is at campaigns files .can you upload only these files ? ( or anybody that is sure that working )

Hi everyone!

I´am sorry to say that there are no errors with the campaign files or the bug fix.
Everything works fine after a clean setup. This has been tested sometimes on different system rigs.
If a campaign or single mission is not loaded then there is almost 100% an error with ships that are missing in the sea folder or files of the ships.

I can only repeatly recommend to have a look at the museum and examine every unit!
If the games crashes with a special unit then there is an error!


If there would be these errors other people would also report problems of campaign missions, etc.

EDIT:

Again the install orders:

1. All files have to be from 1 server !!! (Filefront for example) http://hosted.filefront.com/HanSolo78/

2. Download and install 7-zip from http://www.7-zip.org/

3. Put all 3 archives (WarAceCampaign 3.0 final.z.001, WarAceCampaign 3.0 final.z.002, WarAceCampaign 3.0 final.z.003 on the desktop .

4. Left mouse click on the first part 001, then right mous click -> choose 7-zip ->extract files-> "ok"

5. Now there should be a folder called "WarAceCampaign 3.0_final FULL" with a size of 4,41 GB

6. Enable the mod via ModEnabler and wait about 15-25 minutes (many files) or wait until your Harddisk LED is not lightning always

That should do the trick ;)

ok , i downloaded again the whole wac3 ,followed your instructions but the result is the same. i search the museum ,as you suggested, and the game crashes when i clic to see the german u-boats ! anyone had the same problem and know the solution?

For me WAC 3 works perfectly.

However, I faced exactly the same problem for WAC 2 series and never managed to find out what was wrong. I could never play WAC 2, inspite of any fix and without any additional mod.

Museum was all ok for me inc Ge subs

Was at Narivk around Weserubung - April 18th - but couldnt end mission as a land unit still active despite the port being German

Yes hope so- I love the much higher levels of activity than one finds with GWX and also the graphics are superb.

I have copied the WAC sound files into my GWX game so as to get the Das Boot voices and it works great!

With W A C I think that you need to keep reinstalling the mod as each time it seems to miss some files (again due to sheer size) and hope that one of the installs will work!

Firstly happy new year!

I have got the game running after two re installs, but am still getting crashes unfortunately.
Once when in the museum and looking at the type IXD it crashed, and once when in time compression just after leaving harbour.
Also, if I try to start a mission with a type IXD it crashes on load.

I think then that the IXD is not loading correctly for me, and maybe some other problem.

I have downloaded the files from file front and tried those from the other site (mega upload I think?).

Do you know of any other download site just in case I am not getting a complete file set?

I wondered if due to the size of the download, that maybe jsgme fails to load it properly and that a manual install would work better- what do you think?

Sorry to be a pain but this version is too good to just give up on!

I knwo that some other members of susbsim host WAC3.0 on FileFront... but I don´t know who excactly. Maybe you could have a look through this thread.

For me... I still believe that your Windows Vista version is responsible somehow for the crashes because another user could solve excactly this problen with changing to Windows XP.

But on the other side I don´t knwo why it works for me on WinXP32 and WinVista64 :hmm:

Try to do like in the reply No 147 for download and install.

Personally, I did 6 packs for JSGME (ex. Roster+See, Submarine+Terrain, Air+Cfg+Intro, Textures+Campaings etc). Like that I hat not problems any more.

I've downloaded the WAC to try it. Everything seems to be working fine only one thing; the museum crashes when I load it. I noticed someone mentioning that this could be due to a fault in a ship model. What can I do to fix this? I don't want a ctd during a patrol. I have followed the instructions to the letter and downloaded the files from one site only as you recommend. I also have downloaded and installed the bug fix for WAC 3.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Actually there is no bug in some ship model... crashes in museum is a sign for a crappy install of the mod.

yeah, sure... no problem.. but I encounter many problems and the latest reports were crashes when starting a new campaign, single mission, a new patrol or museum.
It is weird because in the testing stage people only encountered problem, when there have been corrupt installs.

also I am wondering why all things work fine on my install...

hm.. it could help.. if you start the mission editor!
it should report problems of some units if the museum does not load... please try to load it!

One thing I doubt though......I'm sorry, my knowledge of computing is not so big.....should I have used the button "validate mission" for each of the campaign files? I wanted to do this, but my computer has been chewing on a really big and slow download since yesterday which I cannot interrupt, so after almost 20 minutes with no results I aborted and went to bed.....

When i click the klar button's for any of the officers on the GUI, the text in the box above saying the names of each officer is a bit to far to the left, instead of being in the box! A small menu.ini fix would be appreciated!

OK after playing WAC for a little while I thought I'd post some feedback. :up:

Brilliant mod and I love the historical events that happen. Makes you feel part of the war. I started in August in Kiel, went to the target range to get my eye in and then started my next patrol just before war starts in Poland. My sub was waiting outside Gdansk harbour for the action and when it did I was gobsmacked. Destroyers and schnellboats firing at everything with Stukas coming screaming down. Ships blowing apart, shells raining down. Awesome. Just like a movie. :rock:

Now I have completed my 5th war patrol and have accounted for 75,000 tons. I can't wait for the Norway offensive which will start soon.

I love the GUI with the sliding dials, the uniforms are cool too. The water is fantastic, looks almost real. I do have slight FPS problems when wind speed is at 15 m/s but that might be my old graphics card trying to do 4xAA and 8xAF at 1280x1024 resolution.

Also Hans something that you missed in the bugfix the outbound/inbound course for Kiel doesn't work. They still are the original zigzag and spiral patterns. It doesn't worry me though because I take the long journey. :lol:

Also props for a rock solid game no crashes other than me fiddling with 3rd party mods. :up:

And you have stopped me playing GWX. :rotfl:

I agree with the last post, and although mine has many problems running in the past, I am getting there and it is truly superb- this mod makes you feel part of the war and the graphics are stunning, but you need plenty of power from your pc.
I have an ATI 2400 HD and it is slightly jerky sometimes when viewing the sub from outside but otherwise runs really well.
Plenty of RAM needed to- 4mb recommended!
Large download file size and tricky install (much more difficult than GWX which is seamless).
Thanks to Han solo for his advice and a great mod.

I have got mine working currently with SH3 commander to GWX 3.0 status which is the only way I could get it to work properly on vista 32.

Looking forward to any updates as they come along guys!

but wait the problems come after,i am on the 37 mission in brest september 1942.
the most importante is not possibe to save because after you have all frozen gauges after, dept ,sonar,clock,and full of minor bug like a ia sub without conning tower or the bomb location inside the catalina wing ,no fum 29 antenna....
but i like this mod too.
i agree also with robbythesub wac3.0 needs power 3 mb for xp and 4mb for vista.

Also the cause of some minor bugs is not known.. so.. if you don´t know the problem you can´t fix it ;)
For me the playability has always been most important and I always could play WAC with fun until now. From such a small team like WAC you can´t expect a perfect mod like GWx. They had much more recources in all stages... developement, testing, etc.
So.. for now these small problems will stay there probably.

I have a pc with multiboot,one for xp and one for vista.
I install wac 3.0 in each side xp vista and so why i have two differents sreens juste before to launch a career,one it's Leica camere and the other a enigma machine?:roll:

In my WAC3.0 folders I have:

data\Menu\Loading → Map.tga = enigma machine
data\Menu\Loading → SingleMissions.tga = leica photo


I hope this help you find what happens. . .:)


Inside GWX3.0 we can find the same .tga (2), but, they use the same picture for both.

Wow it seems I'm really pushing my nearly 3 yr old rig to it's limits with WAC. But most of the time things are pretty smooth except in busy harbours and lousy weather. I haven't yet come up against a convoy in my first career so it will be interesting to see how my machine copes when I do. :lol:

The thick smoke also destroys my frame rate but once the stricken ship slips under the briny it's all good! :arrgh!:

You guys might be interested to know I'm beta testing Han Solo's enhanced funnel smoke. First impressions are very good indeed. :up:

No..unplanned future still. It is no question of want to develope... more a question of how many recources.. time and men are available!

And right now the team has to few members and also no time.. unfortunately.
So .. the only way to develope... we need modders!
Especially one for 3D and translation.

If so, no, it is a supermod on it's own, like GWX 3.0 and needs a separate install.

If you load it on the same machine beware- you need to run multish3 to create a different save file for each game otherwise crashes will occur.

Not necessarily- I have both on the same machine, but when you save a game, it is saved in a file under documents called SH3 as standard, which is where your GWX saved games will be now.

When you install WAC you must, at the same time, install multish3 and run it so as to create another save game file with another name, ie WAC, instead of Sh3.

You will need at least 3gb ram and ideally 4gb to play war ace campaign as it is very memory hungry.

I'm currently on my 7th war patrol in April 1940 and just outside the Narvik fjord where I'm escorting a big German convoy and just at the entrance to the fjord there are mines which the big German freighters all too easily hit with catastrophic results. Problem is my game is crashing quite a bit when a ship hits a mine. Anyone else with the same problem? :hmm:

I have a 7 channel onboard sound card not a dedicated one like Audigy.

I can't say I took notice of the frame rates but I'll check next time. :up:

Also when I loaded my save game via SH3Commander I got the craziest waves ever! The troughs were ginormous and I think the minesweeper in the convoy sank! It was impossible to stay on the surface so I had to submerge to 20 mtrs. I use seasonal settings in SH3C.

One of the Norwegian small merchants that I had put 4 torpedoes into and pumped 120+ deck gun rounds (I really wanted to kill it) was upside down but still wouldn't sink! :damn:

I use GW1.1a zone files for the ships. Way harder to sink. :ping:

Hi Han,

I just loaded my save game and sure enough when a ship hit a mine the game froze, the FPS stayed locked at 27 and the error message says sh3.exe caused an error in the sh3sim.act. Any ideas?

Also I'm getting weird quirks like no sound on the surface for my sub's engines. Maybe a bad load. :hmm:

Hi!

For the monster waves... this is easy to fix.
Since we changed the wave height in WAC3.0 also Sh3 Commander adds the seasonal wave heights!

So you have to adjust the wave height in the scene.dat file with S3D Editor to "256"!
So.. no more sinking ships :ping:


The ship problem I can not recreate unless the skinking ship is a german tanker which seem to have some problems when sinking.
Maybe it has something to do with the zone files you added from GWX!!!
Because every zone file has its own ID numbers and if you take other files this could lead to a CTD.
Please try the original WAC 3.0 zone files :up:

SH3Cmdr only adjusts the wave height value if the option is selected by the user. If selecting a wave height in SH3Cmdr adversely affects WAC, then simply tell users not to select the option.

Alternatively, adjust the "WAVE HEIGHT" parameters in SH3Cmdr's "SH3 options.cfg" file to suit WAC.

If you have a clean install of SH3, just copy the contents of that folder to a newly named one, ie WAC. Then use MultiSH3 to set up a new save folder for that install.
I have used this method in the past with SH3 & 4. Presently I have about 5 installs on my computer, each with their own save folder, each with their own JSGME.

Hi Han,

I think I've narrowed down the ship that causes the crash. It's the big Hansa cargo with the tall fat funnel with a 9 mtr draught but it doesn't happen every time because last night that ship hit a mine and sunk but did not cause a crash. So it must be a certain compartment the mine hits which would be in the ship's zone file, correct?

Could you check it out? I have no idea what anything means. :nope:

I just need to get past this part of the fjord to continue my career. :damn:

No, WAC is a Supermod itself. You might want to try MultiSh3 for multiple installs.

Anyone using Windows Vista having trouble with WAC 3.0? I installed it according to directions and it runs poorly. I get no ocean and alot of screen freezes and blinking screens. The computer is brand new 3GB and plenty of speed. Am I doing something incorrectly?

Also, WAC can be tricky on vista- I have had many problems but now got it running ok, along with SH3 commander.

If you have 3gb ram that should be enough- what is your processor speed?

HanSolo, I'm trying your supermod now and I really like it. It has the right atmosphere, makes you feel part of a greater war.
The only problem I have is the environment set to 9km. Could you please release a version for 16km, or tell me what to change so that to turn it into 16km?

I know that in scene.dat I must set the Horizon value to above 2000, but I don't know what I should change in the environment files (the EnvColors... thing). Thank you in advance.

I want to give GWX first a try than WAC.

Really old seems to slow for wac3.0. 2Gb is a must.. also above 3GHz CPU and mid fast graphics card like X800/GF7600.

Have experienced som CTD's, but it seems like there are no patterns in when these crashes occur.

My rig is as follows:

AMD X2 dualcore 4200 Gz (2 Ghz shows up in Vista)
2 GIG RAM
Nvidia 7800GTX graphics card

So I have two questions...

The crashes can appear at different places when playing. Could it still be a crappy Install or is my rcomputer to slow?

Is it a way to make the Dual core use both "processors" and thereby get 4 Ghz processor speed?

Hope someone can give me some good advice.

Hi

I have been playing WAC for many months now and I had many problems with both the loading CTDs and also CTDs when playing.
The install is large and it seems very easy for some files to either not load or to get corrupted during the install.
If you view the museum at the start, and look at each vessel, you can often identify the problem is you get a ctd when that ship is missing or corrupted, this then happens during gameplay when this vessel comes into play.
The game has superb depth etc and I love this together with the graphics bit it is glitchy compared to GWX and u boat 1.2.
I found that after several installs, I got it working well.
It also needs plenty of power due to the content I reckon.
I suggest you try another install, outside of program files if using vista, and then view the museum before going further.

You mean installing the game to another folder... Like c:\WAC? not being in the program files folder at all?

I wonder if it will be better not to use JSGME and just copy the files directly over a stock 1.4 patched SH3.
Wonder if there will be a lesser chance for a corrupted install. What do you think Hansolo and robbythesub?

I must add that I browsed through the museum and when clicking on the IXC sub it crashed, but when I immediately started SH3 again and entered the museum to click on the IXC sub again it didn't crash, so I just don't understand what is wrong.

By the way...
Will this Campaign maybe act more reliable or faster if I add another gig of RAM (or 2) I already have 2GB now

Yes 3gb RAM is definately better and mine ran much better when I upgraded from 2 to 3GB, in fact I am about to go to 4gb.
It is much safer to load as c/SH3/WAC if using vista since the programme files area of the drive invokes the vista safety and permissions system which can affect the reading of certain files and cause crashes.
The IX sub was my problem too, crashing in the museum and also when trying to use a IX in the game (when I tried a VIIB or C it was ok).
I think for some reason that this one gets either corrupted or missed on the install sometimes.
As for manual install, I asked hansolo about this point, and he advised me against it as it is very easy to miss critical files, but I would imagine that if you know your stuff with files etc, it may be the safest and best way.
My system on which it plays really well now is vista 32, 3GB RAM, nvidea 7900GS and 2.4 GZ twin core processor.
Also, is WAC the only version of SH3 you are using?
If so, fine but if not I assume that you are using multish3 for save game files?
WAC will crash if you have another variant of the game without multish3.
Anyway, let me know how you get on- the effort is well worth it as WAC is truly amazing in my opinion.
If I had a ctisicism it would be the frequency that one meets the catham troopship and another (the same each time).

Anyone know if there's a multi-core setting in the config file or one that can be added? I'm running a quad core and and getting some graphic anomalies: freezing when trying to quit and my desktop wallpaper is gone. Had a similar problem in Fallout 3 which was fixed after adding a multi-core line to the ini file limiting the cores used. Or perhaps there's another cause?

Also, my sonar and radio men have gone AWOL! They aren't at their stations even though their stations are manned in the crew screen. :shifty: I'm in the beginning of a new WAC campaign in 1942 with a VIIC.

Forgot to mention I'm running Vista 32-bit.

What the updates name will be I don´t know at the moments. because there are much minor imrpovements with very high detail only visible at the second look. Bute I did invest a lot of spare time to make the new build with my team member.

It looks like I'll have to change my installation folder for WAC 3.0 to WAC 4.0 and wait with great anticipation for the release!

I have a report on several bugs in WAC 3.1 (and thus affecting WAC 4.0).

In gramophone music folder there still are three files with German ü, which lead to crash SH3 when start playing music.

Both in WAC 3.1 and 4.0 in data\Sea\EnglishNames.cfg there is wrong line:
FishingBoat2=Shrimps Cutter
(instead of FishingBoat3=Shrimps Cutter).

Hm.. really annoying!
Did you change these files already by yourself?
Then maybe you could send me a possible fix? I am a little bit out of time at the moment...would be great!

Sure I can do a fix. But what to do with unnecessary files, remove them using bat-file? In fact I can make all renaming stuff with bat. And what to do with *_Txx.tga files, rename them to something like *_T05.tga or just delete?

And some more bugs... Have crashes in single and career usually during mission initialization or some time after. Haven't yet find reason.

Yeah, unnecessary files should be deleted.. how is agoof question.
If this is possible with .bat file it would be good. The TGA files should be renamed to the format like the other one so that they fit into the names.

Crahes in SM and career? With 3.1 or with 4.0?

I recognized problems with some units in Windows vista!
In fact I also made a WAC4.0 vista version... without the buoys and the levensau bridge which caused my vista 64 to crash.
Win XP worked ok for me with all units and default WAC4.0 update.

Hi Rob!

Actually WAC3.1 ran fine on my vista64 installation. Only 4.0 refused to load a career.
If 3.1 does not work for you 4.0 won´t also.
