I was fully loaded with electric torpedos at the time bloody things
Hm. I always fully loaded with electric (except times when I refit on another base or ship or milkcow), may be thus I have no problems with hitting the targets :-)

This will update the gyro with the new torpedo speed.

EXAMPLE: If you have Tube #1 selected with a Type I Steam Torpedo set to FAST (i.e. 44 knots), the gyro will set accordingly for the speed of the torpedo to correctly lead the target. If you then switch to Tube #3 containing a Type III Electric Torpedo that only has one speed setting (i.e. SLOW of 30 knots), the gyro WILL NOT BE UPDATED to reflect the slower torpedo speed UNLESS THE TORPEDO SPEED SWITCH is clicked resulting in a probable missed shot.
HEED Ducimus words' well kaleuns....this info is not flagged up often enough on the site, hence many people never actually realise this 'glitch'

I saw references to 'stock Sh3' a couple times in this thread.

Is this not a problem with GWX? Or any other mod that fixes this?

Or something we just always need to consider?

Default There is a way to swap.......

There is a way to swap the T2 back to T1.

When you are in the office, and check the Uboot(upgrade screen).
You will see under Torpedo's a display how much T2 and T1 you have in your possession...

For those that dont like the T2 here you have to do...
Change all T1 into T2 and then from T2 into T1..
If you change only the T2 that you have it willn't change in GWX.

The other problem when you want to refuel/rearm, you cant select T1 & T2, because the suply-ship will give you what they have....

Thats another reason that i dont refuel/rearm my boot...
Only in case of emergency(when i almost runs out of fuel) i will refuel)...

To bad, that SHIII dont have that option to select what kind of Torps you want...
before you sail off...

It would be strange, if u-boot came to resupply and didn't take any torpedoes, even if it has no any :-)

Default You the captain... you deside!!!

As a captain on a uboot you deside what kind of Torp/ammo you want.. fuel or no fuel...

What i mean, if you want to make a pitstop, there is no option about so many T1 and so many T2 or All T1 and NO T2...

The resuply ship will give you 1/2 of T1 and 1/2 of T2, later at war, if you take a pitstop than your uboot contains all T2..

What happens when a player dont like to use a T2???? and prefer to use T1...

So when i am in Wilhelmshaven i will change all T2 torps into T1 before i sail off...

So when do you set the speed of the electric torpedo? Can I set it once and forget about it, or do I have to re-set the speed every time I prepare to fire that torpedo?

If I have a full load of electrics do you still get the bug?

I always run with a full load of electrics - got tired of spooking ships with the bubble trails.

Speed isn't a problem for me as I always try to fire from within 800m, preferably 500m.

I use the same electric torp tric as you, Nightcrawler (alltough you don't often get the opportunity). I don't understand what you mean with the calm water thing, don't you set your torp for a magnetic keel shot?

I too prefer T1's, but I'm using more and more of a mix these days. But i still don't have the patience to wait untill night to attack.

A T1 disadvantage: even if a merchant, in a daytime-attack, sees the steamer torp, but isn't able to get away in time, he will have still screwed up your possible one-kill-shot with his manoevring.

I'm not a big fan of electrics as the Kriegsmarine rarely gives me enough extension cords that are long enough for the torp to reach its target.

May 1940

I'm using T2 now as they don't give up my position when attacking convoy from a close position. As I play as realistic as possible, it's crucial for me. Also I hope that TIIs (as a next generation) have improved impact triggers and it shows to be true. T1 in high seas was a waste of time... more than 50% of them didn't just go off (midship hit with minimum depth set) but my crews morale surely was way off. As I roam around east coast of Britain now, bad weather is a standard issue...

June 1941

I carry 100 percent T-2 electrics and get outstanding tonnage with them.
