For planes encounters, I highly recommend to play this mod with no more than X256 time compression in day time, up to X1024 in night time for the starting years 1939/1942… and all time X256 for last years 1943/1945!
HIGHER THAN X256, YOU WILL NOT SEE PLANES

IMPORTANT: when playing any type IX career, to avoid the well known type IX cables misfit, you should upgrade your conning tower as soon as it’s available in bunker. In NYGM the cost is zero.

It is not an official megamod release, it is only my own game I have modded for myself… and I wished to share with the Subsim community :yep:

———> Game already patched Hsie & Stiebler with selected options for best gameplay!

———> If you want to get the "ship spotted" annoucement even for friendly/neutrals when sailing TC X1024, make sure in your Time Compression settings, the Character Animation is set to 1024 (the same time compression as your maximum) and of course the Ennemy Ship (s) Detected is set to 1.

Others settings as « When in 3D View », « Sound Effects », or « Particle Rendering » are set to 32.

———> At first mission career launch, save your game in high seas and exit game…reload and continue mission. It should be good to avoid all well known SH3 saves bugs.

———> Always save from the Nav map! You can save anywhere anytime, even underwater!

———> Do not use any other mods than the ones provided! So many files have been modified to get precise gameplay …This way you won’t brake the game.

———> This megamod is requesting good PC…with good graphic card!

———> Best is only 1 megamod at a time installed on computer! This to avoid potential corrupted saves…

This campaign file was coming from Harbor_Traffic of NYGM!

Well my single contact mod provide only a black square without any informations except the hour!

That is how I see any single contacts in NYGM, no tails and just the contact time showing. As time goes on the contact item fades away. Don't have it as a separate mod though.

Yes something went wrong in the patching process.
Have you followed the DGUI patch instructions to the letter?

As good as i understand it. I patched it a second time but with the same result. I'm using now the ARB WideGui and it works for the moment; all function included.

I am using WAC MaGui for NYGM and GWX and it works just fine.

It was tested with DGUI, but all others GUI should work fine with my mod.
Just make sure the Commands_Eng allows Shift/Ctrl + D for deck crew, Ctrl + Page Up/Down for pennants, and Shift/Ctrl +U for UZO, Shift/Ctrl +V for DF antenna :yep:

I will release a fix for FUMO 29 not beeing at correct position today.

I’m on April 42 and i can install it...only thing is it’s not at the right position.

FUMO 29 can’t be raised!
It’s fixed on front of conning tower.
You can activate it via the radio operator as usual.
It can detect ships only in front of U Boat (+- 10° each side).
You have to make full 360° turn to check everywhere :)

The reason why this happens is that there are mods on top of DGUI in JGSME's loading order that also have their own sh3.exe, in this case here it's EnvSimAct_10 if you used the EnvSimAct_10 folder from the NYGM package . So you might have applied the tychopatch to the sh3.exe in DGUI, but if the sh3.exe in EnvSimAct_10 is unpatched, the problem with the split map occurs because JSGME replaces DGUIs sh3.exe with EnvSimAct_10s sh3.exe

I have another problem, though. The commands for crew on deck, pennants etc don't work :( Any ideas why? Here's my mod list:

That's funny. It makes at least some of the commands work but it does weird stuff to the graphics. Everything becomes kinda blurry and low res. I know it doesn't make sense but it's true. I delete the cfg-files and everything's fine again.

Not familiar with the DGUi mod, but why is there an .exe with the Envsimact10 file ? The env. file does not need it.

I don't know, but there was an .exe in the envSimact folder that came with NYGM

Of course EnvSim act doesn’t need exe...
There is an exe with the DGUI mod nonetheless.

It's fine at first until I retracted it with CTRL + R. Please take a closer look. Your mod is installed last by the way.

This is a common problem where, when lowering the FuMO-30, it becomes lateral. Look for the solution at Anvart.

Oh, sorry, i misunderstood the mod! I thought about LSH3 or Ccom...here we are at NYGM :)

So it seems in NYGM the FUMO 30 is retractable, while in LSH3/Ccom not! (Probably to avoid the issue)
As i said, this antenna is NYGM stock, i didn’t change anything, so WITHOUT my mod it’s not working correctly too...even though everything seems to be correctly done by Stiebler :hmmm:

Don’t know yet where the problem is lying, so best for the moment is to NOT retract it :yep:

There is no apparent fix for the correct automatic alignment when retracting, you have to make sure your timing is right when you lower the antenna.

This mod is for SH3 ver. 1.4b game with NYGM 3.6 mod.
Mod is adaptation GWX version for NYGM.

This mod is a modification of the previous version (August, September 2009). The direction
of the antenna rotation is synchronous with rotation of the radar wheel and the radar beam.
In the lower position the antenna is securely fixed by additional animation (Stabl).
In this mod we can control raising and lowering Radar Antenna (FuMO 30...64) using new
StateMachine Class... and using next commands:
1) Turn on radar and raising antenna: Radar_one_sweep - key "R", Radar_continuous_sweep
- keys "Shift+R"...
2) Turn off radar and lowering antenna - keys "Ctrl+R"...
3) Radar_view - keys "Shift+A"...
4) Activate_radar - keys "Shift+K", Deactivate_radar - keys "Ctrl+K" and Radar_rotate -
keys "Shift+N" ...
5) Toggle_hydrophone - keys "Shift+H" and Rotate_hydrophone - "Ctrl+H".
Special feature of this mod the turn on/off handle (Radar_toggle_on_off) is not
interactive now ...

Anyway, as I originally said, there is no fix, you just have to time the rotation in the correct position before lowering. Thats how I manage it, plus I do not use the bloody thing as it is a ASW magnet as with all of the radar. It's bad enough they hone in on you with your radio signaling.

I can get everything to work but when I press the "N" key i get the time compression minimum 128 tab instead of the rec manual. I have clean installed 4 or 5 times now and re did the patches every time. As I mentioned everything else seems to work as expected.



I see in your mod order the DGUI is before the Stiebler patch. Where is the Tycho patched SH3.exe. Wouldn't the Steibler patch go before the Tycho patch ?



I have searched the forums and Google as well about the Hsie patch and the Steibler patch. What do you do with the Hsie Supplement to V16B1 when also using the Steibler4C_Addon_for_V16B1. I do not see anything in the readme's about this.


Any help would be appreciated.

Two ways to free up your recognition manual n key, assuming the Stiebler patch is affecting it.
- disable the tc patch in his mod.

As John pointed out, it's use was to short circuit getting all those ships sighted messages on exiting & returning to base. Not really needed, unless you really want to have it in there... totally up to you there, @Dieselglock... :yep:

If, I am off on the exact location'ing of that command structure... am sure 1 of the others, can correct that... but, think I am fairly sure of the location for it. But... don't hold Me to that... 1000% though... :shucks:

The tilde key can be problematic due to various mods. I use this key for all stop, see if it works for you. It is the "vertical slash\forward slash" key.
Copy/paste over your current command, back up your current file first.

That would be one of the Ambient sound files in the main sound folder. Maybe the skyline one.

Fifi Enhancement NYGM is based on my mods for Ccom12 and LSH3, and should be activated last on top of all NYGM mods.
As example:


Last, the attack periscope max height has been reduced to fit correctly the pennants in harbor.
If you experience difficulties in rough sea to see something, you can either use the observation periscope (little higher) or order 1m higher for periscope depth!

It would be in the *.sim file of the boat desired, in the objects folder. I.e., path game\data\objects\*.sim.
Open node #4 and you'll see the value to adjust. Stock NYGM uses 6.5 vs the 5 in the mod.
You'll need S3D or the Mini Tweaker. If you don't have one of those, let me know.
I changed mine for the same reason you state.

Yes, as shown by Dieselglock, everything is there.
You have to « explore » the gui if you are not familiar with it…

If you drag the little gold stuff up left screen, you have a nice clock that you can drag anywhere you want.
On the right screen, you can drag the chronometer (working)

It is recommended to drag down a little this chronometer to make the help tool of Nav map working correctly by the way.
(Ie to access the big ruler rose)

I did not know this mod it is thanks to Fifi who allowed me to try it...
the periscope lenses are simply magical.. this weathered effect of the bomb... as well as the finesse of the day and night graduations... congratulations diego_gut the feeling when attacking the periscope... with the water on the lens at speed of attack.. it's stunning realism.. i think it's due to the size of the reticle.. i really like it.... the horizon.. the weather.. works very well at night .. are very good all that is missing are the drops of water on the binoculars and the uzo in very bad weather as well as the skating .. that would be great ..
However, I noticed some things.
I sometimes had small "bugger" impacts on the hull of certain ships..
on the other hand when it sinks the time... or the attitude... they adopt is very good... there can also be some small artifacts of the square areas when the ship sinks the emulsion creating these things depends on the light weather so it's not very serious...
some torpedoes tended to be visible out of the water.
I unfortunately did not take care to note the weather but I will be more attentive to that.. but the weather was not very bad...

now I congratulate Fifi for allowing me to know this little gem..
as well as his fabulous work which continues to expand Bravo Fifi thank you

as for the torpedoes if you say it is that you read it in the archives .. so all is well then the chosen depth is also responsible as well as the weather. So we stay in the plausible very well ... Thank you for the update today it's impeccable I also prefer it ... As for the impact on ships as soon as it happens to me I will report to you. ..

I had water on the lenses.. it depends on the conditions and the direction of the wind it's excellent...as you can see I'm enjoying it...everything is working perfectly for the moment the weather is working at the top. .. the torpedoes are perfect but I find that I have a lot of success... but I don't shoot just any old way.. "the gun" is "the magnetic" also works I shot at a different angle I knew failures which looks very good....
the bullet holes are very pretty...
the fires work well but are not spectacular.. the sinking boats I find their behavior very good... I even had a recalcitrant one forced to come back and finish it off with the deck gun. Cool what...
the destroyers are nasty try to play with you pay dearly...
Now I made a request to Diego for the filter I don't know what you think...?
But it would be nice to do it...!! even for the light of the navigation map.. the red filter at night would be good.. it brings out the map, the underwater relief in particular.. it changes the day.. I think it brings more to the gameplay... .ah yes no more "bugs" on the hull of ships during your last update "install fresh"

Got everything set up & rolling. What I see thus far, which I shall admit, isn't far... as I am early on in a career, looks great.

A couple of things, that I would like to ask about, respectfully... of course. :yep:

On the bino view... is it possible, to have this view, to be more in line with the view as is seen in using bino's... dual semi oval-circles, as the way it is now... kinda leaves/has Me feeling like, I am a pirate from back in the 17-1800's, looking through a spyglass, rather than looking through actual bino's.

The other thing would be is in regards to base localities... namely, Wilhelmshaven & Lorient.

The old base at Wilhelmshaven, is from the stock set up... & would love to see of that being updated/corrected... if at all possible.

With Lorient, its location, is a bit further out I believe, than where it was located, yet not deep into the bay channel, as Ubi shoved it in the stock set up.

Seeing as how the subs, are not as is with OneAlex's work, (using TKK's mod & this is good... :yep:) as I feel it cuts back on being too... resource heavy, that perhaps the Wilhelm/Lorient mod, could perhaps be looked at as being added in... with maybe the traffic in/out of them... being culled/dialed back a bit... to up the stability factor.

Just food for thought... :shucks:

Ok, it is showing up in the enhanced, as sitting literally on the Atlantic coastal area... in stock, it was wayyyy deep into the bay channel & was a literal pain, to get out of the base.


Where Lorient Uboat pens were... was in actuality, in the mid point between those 2 examples. Which in that Wilhelmshaven mod I mentioned of... does have Lorient in place, where it should be.

I think that all this is still under construction, there are a lot of little things that are still missing.. you have to see the designers Fifi.. diego..
especially in port areas .. but I find that the stability is very good the fast loading times ... let's wait to see what happens next ... we can always do better but already I really like this mod that I didn't know. ..now knowing a little Fifi he will focus on the technical aspect...

Ah, ok. There was a well done Lorient mod, can't remember the author and I think it doesn't apply to NYGM as it was already done in that.
I think it was called New Lorient or something. Maybe give that a look and see if it helps.

I already tried this full interior … there is lighting and shadowing problem as we can see on your screen (mainly on new crew)
Also, I tried to open this dat to add crew for my full interior … files are so heavy my pc can’t handle it (can’t open 2 RR.dat together)
So my full interior will stay as it is.

Furthermore, my NYGM is actually 100% CTD free with no one corrupted save file and fast loading times. I even can save/load close to ships or convoy … or making full patrol without any save… I don’t want to break that, that’s the only megamod running so smoothly.

yes this is not new.. this must be able to be adjusted by removing the intensity of the light or changing certain parameters.. but at least the interior is more alive!!! yours and empty....the outside deck of the ship "I don't like it" no good tone is that bothers me from the beginning the original color was better let's say... the finish leaves something to be desired...the boats in the compilation sound much better and I'm willing to bet that with Diego's HUD it works...and it will look much better...

_So my complete interior will remain as it is.

I think every bodies taste is different when it comes to these super mods. I am very happy with FiFi's work and enjoy it very much. In my opinion it is a very good adaption of a very good base mod that was designed to take the minimalist approach. I think that it has the perfect balance of enough eye candy to bring NYGM to current expected standards of what today's computers are capable of without deviating from the original intent of the base mod.



I normally play long careers starting in 39 and going as far as I can before getting sunk. I have found it to be probably the most stable of the super mods with Enhancements and have had no issues with ctd's or game saves ever.



Fifi helped me with my Nvidia graphics settings and at least on my machine the recommended settings made a huge improvement.


I for one am thrilled to play this version of the mod and am having a great time playing it.


These are just my personal opinions without any intent to upset anybody.

Well, it’s not like DD’s method, it’s a kind of … my method :haha:
The cook is still here, and that’s right he is not that good rendering … tried to do something, but not really satisfied for the moment.

You need to go deeper. A lot deeper. :) Get down to 250 or so meters and get their fast, go at one knot and you'll escape.

Actually iirc ace u-boat killer Donald Macintyre said asdic was not very effective in real calm seas so maybe don't consider it cheating the game. :D

He (and others too iirc) never used them as he considered them archaic technology. Grab a copy of his "U-Boat Killer" book. Interesting stuff.

That seems a little silly tbh. The Germans made tests with hydrophones to check a U-Boat's noise emissions. It turned out a commander giving his orders in normal speaking voice could be heard from 2 nautical miles away (under ideal conditions i suppose) oO

Next update in few days… I fixed few things such as type II interior + crew, DF Antennas (and the IID was bugged), others minors adjustments and plenty new skins for all escorts depending years (via Commander) :yeah:

I confirm that there is a real atmosphere of attack..
I can tell you that destroyers are very intelligent...
my crew first spots a freighter from Denmark.. after being disappointed not to be able to shoot it down.. "funel smoke on the horizon" again I see two destroyers arriving by about 12 km I just took the time to watch for a few minutes.. when suddenly... they made the decision to go straight for me... the sea was choppy in 13ms clear weather around 4:00 p.m....
problem no bottom no more than 45 meters.. off the English coast... immediately I dive at maximum speed and try to get closer to the cargo ship so that its noise covers me. As well as his presence. Quickly reposition ready to attack.... These destroyers are coming straight at me....so he saw me from afar...immediately we behaved aggressively...I sank one....at the same now guess what...? the aviation that appears... they did not hesitate to attack me... even being not very far from the freighter. Then I avoid a few passes of grenades while suffering minor damage.. then.. I try to sink the last one... I have 2 torpedoes left then... an attack opening presents itself.. I attack... the first the torpedo went under the keel... the other one was worth it... he managed to avoid it... then he came back to make me pay for my mistake and I ended up at the bottom...

Shallow water attacks are asking to be sunk, also fwiw, cargo ship noise doesn't cover one's boat/isn't modeled in SH3.
But it's still a good idea to use them for physical roadblocks against escorts.

Yes, plus escorts have such a shallow draft anyway. Add in some waves and just their bouncing around in the waves helps them avoid being hit.

Reworked the environment...to match even closer original NYGM.
I backed up NYGM env files, and reworked them:
- To keep the clear weather 16Km spotting distance WITH ship appearing progressively in horizon mist (no 16Km clear weather mist in previous versions - the ship was suddently appearing all clear and visible)
- To get back Stiebler 3 different environment (the Arctic, Atlantic, Med)
There was only one for the 3 zones previously (as many megamods BTH)
- To get correct moon size & sun

Also new environment is perfect for surface nights attacks… sneaking carefully through the escort shield, fire and escape full speed giving smaller silhouette :03:

Arctic nights (North Sea, Baltic, Norwegian Sea, Iceland seas etc) are quite clear now when no overcast clouds.
Atlantic nights as well, but nevertheless darker.
Same for Mediterranean.
When some moon, no problem to spot ships into the binoculars.
And when high waves, spotting distances shorten a bit :03:

Also forgot to say, you should have the marker cross in red to keep track of sunken ships… when reloading save, the marks will appears in black again, but if you just click once on the pencil, they all are back in red :03:

Ohh… the coat of arm (frontal emblem of VIIB?) can be easily deleted with S3D…
No problem.
In fact I let it voluntarily cause I kind of like it …

To get correct emblems with GUC now, you have to choose the singles ones, not the doubles (doubles were for old Ccom12 sub - I left them)

It’s normal for the screenshots … I edited the SH3 exe to get the red crosses marker and the screenshots folder via the Tycho patcher… and forget to tell people :oops:

personally the rendering is splendid one of the best I have tested is I insist... I hadn't tested much yet Fifi really got me... for the screens..!!! but the remarkable work with the color tones is for the rest I'm not worried I already know that it will be very good to have experienced it since there are no longer Rowie's boats now he has dog this mods...:up:

Sometimes (depending where you hit & depending what the ship is carrying) the ship instantly explode and brake in 2...those don't have any survivors cause no lifeboats appears!

I believe Der Teddy Bar did all the work for the NYGM ship sinking mod. He even created a program he used to make it easier to do iirc.

because you see I have an old laptop when I use it very rare it is so rotten ..!! but I can easily open several windows with the S3D as well as the editors. Well it's a bit long but he's working on it...
Fifi your problem is strange... I don't like laptops to play with because they age too prematurely. Even those of "gamer" requires special attention... if there is not a minimum of maintenance... it is the death of the graphics card or the processor... the components are subjected to too much stress in a too restricted environment .. nothing beats a Bécanne that you ride yourself (mine is 12 years old at the moment) I run everything that moves like the Arma 3... Red Dead redemption.. Cyberpunk2077.. etc..
of course not in 4k but I can down sample 2k.. with some.. for the moment I am satisfied with "FullHD 1080".. I have two Asus to mount including a "Maximus Code X" but I have to invest in some odds and ends whose new screen is an Rtx I'm in no hurry I'll see if there are any good deals. This summer can be...

I experienced something odd yesterday when I finished my first patrol.
My patrol was relatively successful, as shown here:

I have no idea why this would be happening. I haven't experienced anything like this yet so I'm stumped.
Earlier in the patrol, my game crashed as I was navigating about 200 nautical miles or so away from Loch Ewe. Maybe that had a factor in it?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Best is X256 to keep the planes threat during day time, and X512 or X1024 during night time…SH3 is a game of patience :yep:

Adding objects to the game is time consuming, I have to check each one to see the right placement etc… hence launching test career each time …
Imported from GWX, I have to check also if those objects are existing in NYGM, with the correct class name etc… :03:

Is the Allied sonar performance historically accurate throughout the war, or is it upgraded to later war even early on?

I’m thinking of getting started on German U-boats. I want the most accurate to life mod I can get.

Are depth charge disturbances in this mod?

Is the Allied sonar performance historically accurate throughout the war, or is it upgraded to later war even early on?

I’m thinking of getting started on German U-boats. I want the most accurate to life mod I can get.


1. Depth charge disturbances aren't modeled in Sh3. There are mods for such, no idea how accurate they are.
2. Yes in terms of better equipment, etc. It's use and efficiency isn't modeled as well as it could be but no game is perfect.

There is a mod done by TDW (The Dark Wrath) which was used in SH4 and he attempted to adapt it to SH3. It result in CTD on starting up if you had been depth charged prior to your save. It was not compatible with SH3 and no solution was found.

It did work well except for the issue with the Save, though.
