GentleMen,
As a LONG time modder myself?
I've NEVER felt slighted at NOT getting an award for modding work.
I do it for the self satisfaction and responce I see by those that like what I've done.
The badge I have now???
THAT'S NOT EVEN FOR MODDING!!!
:o
It's a Post of the Year thing and even I said I didn't deserve it.
Many of the GREAT trail blazers don't have one of those 'Stinking Badges'.
That DOES NOT mean that We, the Modders, and others, don't respect and honor them.
It only means they don't have a do-dad under their side thingy.

:haha:
To be serious for a moment Guys.
The awards stuff is a fun thing for many here.
It's a judged from votes submitted thing and will never hit the true marks.
The true marks, as all us modders know, are the responces, downloads, or comments we get.
Even questions or requests for help down the road for other mods is what We respond to.
What We, or at lest I, actually look forwards to.
You want a 'stinking badge' system that means something?
Set it up so MODDERS ONLY can vote who earns one.
You earn voteing rank in some order that I have no idea how to set up.
:haha:
That way only modders can elect and vote for the Best of the year Modder.
It gets much more complicated from there on.

Clean, yet high polygon model - for what the deck gun is worth I mean.
15000 polys at the very least. Did you import your WIP in game already to check its impact on the FPS rate ?

Hi mate,
The deck gun was worth enough to give it some historical attention i don't know any player who never had a blast with it one day or another!
No worry there i always check my model fps near a big convoy and what you see on wip image are not the model i put in game because i always model a high res version for other purpose like cinematic that will be use in the game we will start in 2013.
Also many of my model look high res while in fact if you look at the wired mesh you would see that i take advantage of modeling with smooth group tool not to be confound with meshsmooth or turbosmooth .
Smooth group tool is modeling in a square like fashion and then you select the face you want the smooth effect to be active it is only a trick of the light that smooth transition between hard edge, best of all S3D editor can manage them if you know how.
Few people i knew in my career were able to use it to it full potential.
With recent video card polygon are not much of an issue anymore i remember a friend of mine who work for a studio here in Montreal told me after reducing a heavy scene from 3 to 5 millions poly notice only a 2 fps gain.
What kill a game engine much more quicker then this is large texture size and compulsive use of alpha transparency.

Hi shipmates,
Here some information about the technique i use to get good looking model at a very low polygon cost, in the following picture you will see the fitting where the clinometer is mount in 3 different modeling states;
1. With turbosmooth use to improve the smoothness of your model mainly for high resolution for cinematic or photo realistic rendering.
2. Turbosmooth with the modifier Optimizer apply on top, this technique reduce the amount of face drastically but also yield lot of imperfection in the mesh and it is not good at all with mesh with animation.
3. Finally the smooth group technique my favorite one that i use almost every time, the pro good looking model with very low polygon count, the con much longer to create to get the right result.
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac68/Hans_Witteman/Optimize_ex_a.jpg
The next picture just show the smooth group technique with and without the smooth groups apply and with wireframe to show edge flow.
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac68/Hans_Witteman/smooth-groups_view.jpg
The next one is just a close up of all 3 techniques to show you how they look in final versions.
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac68/Hans_Witteman/Final_versions.jpg
So as you can see we can get very nice model with low polygon count using the smooth groups technique i hope this will reassure people who were worry about the polygon count in U-BOOT_HAHD.
Best regards Hans

Holy. Freakin. WOW. :wah::haha::wah::haha::o:haha::wah:
(those are tears of joy) :yeah:
Truly incredible. All these years, and SH3 is still being pushed, and pushed, and pushed. You modders are astounding. How you are able to dig thru all these files and figure out how to alter them is beyond me.
BUT THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!
I really wish I could help somehow. I've done 3D for about 15 years now, and I can model and texture, but I have no experience working with game engines. :hmm2:
Hans, re: smoothgroups .. you must be using Max? I haven't used Max since v2.5, but I remember when I discovered smoothgroups I almost crapped myself. And seriously man, KUDOS on your UV unwrapping skills. Those are some seriously efficient UV layouts. That musta been one HELLUVA nightmare. Tedious to say the least, i'm sure. The examples of stock SH3 UV maps you put in your video? BARF. What a mess. I can't believe people actually worked with those :har: (I mean, did I actually see overlapping faces in the stock layout? yikes)
These days I use Blender pretty exclusively. Haven't touched a commercial 3D app in years. =D .. You are TOTALLY right about texture usage being the gfx killer instead of polys these days. Yikes. (hopefully this week I'll get to put in my GTX560 Ti 1Gig card)
I'll get an account set up over at the HAHD website. I've got some time on my hands. Mayhaps it's about time I got my hands dirty with greasy game guts. :D I'm intimidated by what I see tho.
Again, just WOWOWOW!!! :o
I truly look forward to U-boat HAHD. It'll get me into a Type II again for certain.

Hi mate,
Welcome aboard and yes SH3 was a winner at the very first place and yet nothing can beat it until a new title is out and take the crown.
It may look difficult to play with those files but after a couple days you see the logic behind the code, when i begun this mod i was overwhelm at everything but as soon as i had my first success thing got very exciting and i must admit that you can become addict very quick, if you have a wife or girlfriend stay aways from it!:k_confused:
Yes i use max since the DOS version and i teach 3D animation in college for the last 7 years i know i am getting old, i also use Blender since modeling is so much good that i find it even better then paid software.
If you have some spare time then consider joining the team effort because the whole battle ships and merchant shipping need to be done.
As for a campaign in typII what i truly love is that there is no place for mistake and port raiding is always exciting because you never know in advance the juicy tonnage you can find there.

Hi Alex,
I will explain this soon with all the details.

AHA!! you use Blender eh?
Wondering if that's what you used for the UV layouts? I thought that looked like a bit Blender-ish UV layout. Reputedly some of the best UV tools in the field. And I agree completely with Blender's modelling tools, especially now that Bmesh is in there.
I'll try man, but I make no gurantees. I would LOVE to get involved, but not really sure how useful I'd be considering my almost non-existent experience with modeling for game engines. Worth a shot tho =D
EDIT: ahhhh 3D Studio DOS ... i recall it fondly. my first "serious" 3D app. so incredible at the time. =]
EDIT EDIT: no wife or GF, just a couple cats LOLZ ... and i got my 6 inch PCI-e 16x extender cable today .. now to see if THAT will allow me to fit my GTX560 Ti into this Dell machine ... I've had the card for 2 months now, but have been unable to use it due to Dell's crappy motherboard design. very frustrating, to say the least. i've never before spent 200 bucks on a video card.
The hardware rendering speed in Cycles should be WELL worth it tho =D
EDIT EDIT EDIT:
OK. Seems we have (counting) about 5 months to speculate on these "previously thought impossible" new features for SH3.
I'll start: um ... PLEASE tell me you've been able to correct the night sky. Stars with correct colors, plus deep sky objects. That would be gorgeous!!
or .. maybe you've been able to make the draggable chrono click-startable on every screen?
or .. maybe you've figured out how to implement thermal layers?
or .. maybe you've figured out how to give the player control of the dive planes, and or "angle on the bubble"?
heh heh
that's all for now =]

Hi mate,
I use both for various purpose the fastest tools are the one i use to get the job done!
Modeling for real time rendering is not that difficult and there is ton of tutorials all over the net just do a couple and you will get it fast enough.
For the sky we have mod part of it but some part are hard coded like the stars.
draggable chrono click-startable on every screen? Reaper have done it i think just ask him he is the guy on this with Makman.
Thermal layers forget about it but i will have a serious discussion with the programmers for the new simulator to have them implemented.
Nothing was done on dive planes so far and i didn't look at it yet.
Best regards Hans
Cool! :|\\
Thanks for the response!! Really I was just wildly speculating :P
Being able to start-stop the chrono on any screen has been done? O.o AWESOME!!!
No surprise about the stars. I expected as much. Same with Thermal layers and dive planes / dive angle. .. bringing those up for a new game would indeed be really really nice thx. :yeah:
I'll try to put some work into low poly modeling. I've got S3D now, to work on my mod soup, so I guess I can make stuff and import it to SH3 ... but frankly my mod-soup is taking most of my time right now ..and once I get the soup done, I will of course want to do some patrolling ...
I really have always wanted to contribute somehow tho. I'll work on it. I understand the techniques of low-poly, texture conservative modeling .. just never done any of it. =]
Rock on yo!!
I just had a brain fart:
PLEASE tell me you're not the folks working on Silent Hunter Online. .. I rather doubt it, as I can't imagine anyone who frequents here or has worked on modding Ubisoft's games would endeavor to sign a contract with Ubisoft.

Hi shipmates,
I was lucky enough to have some spare time last night so i finish the 88mm and here are some detail about my choice in certain parts of the gun because the museum version was on a trawler they might have been some slight difference for a surface only mount versus a submerged one.
Here the cap we see on the elevation mechanism, the museum version diddn't have one because the cap was from thin metal so 60 years under water would have corroded the cap, here some pictures of it with original photo on side.
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac68/Hans_Witteman/P1010078.jpg
HAHD version
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac68/Hans_Witteman/Cap.jpg
Here we have a very different release mechanism on the left side of the gun from the museum version :

HAHD version here with the most common type i observed on original pictures :

Next is the surface and submerged state of the 88mm in game:

And to finish here the accurate animation of the 88mm with a link to a movie showing it in detail : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyCL6c0Sb_g
First this is the Ubi animated version of the 88mm:

Here the HAHD version, notice the under recoil cylinder are extended to absorb the recoil and the breechblock is part of the barrel so it recoil with it:

Hi, Hans.
Excellent work!
I hope you do not have problems with the animation of guns loader.
Unfortunately wpn_Cannon controller (in *.sim) supports only three animations of human's objects: Traverse--->anm_human, Elevation--->anm_human and anm_reload...
... but you can try to create a complex object (in the slot DMY_Soclu03_88mm_**) consisting of two (total of three) sailors (loader and uploader) with different names of body parts (ex. <body_1>, <head_1>, <helmet_1>, <body_2>, <head_2> and <helmet_2>) and use one AnimationObject controller.
Good luck.
Regards, Alex.
P.S.
Unfortunately, for the beautiful solution need to hack the executable file.

Hi Alex,
I didn't have time to look at adding more deck gun crew but later on i will give it a try with your technique via keyboard command.
Right now i am struggling again with a clean way to animate texture and i reload that controller you upload last year and i don't remember how it work.
My goal is to add custom caustic texture animation to individual object since the default caustic do not work good on custom object.
Best regards Hans

Hi, Hans.
To animate the gun loader is better to use the technique of wpn_Cannon (anm_reload) and ExtAnimCtl controllers, i think.
... as for StateMachineCtrl technique there are not crew commands, synchronized with the shot of the gun, IIRC.

I was amazed at how much better things looked!
Yea it's a bit of extra work but that's what makes or breaks a good 3D model.

Hopefully you should have no problem now on signing up, if you still do drop me a Pm and I'll manually sign you up.
ok. i've been told this might work.
I hereby request that people in this thread stop quoting entire long posts full of images just to say, "good job" or some other short comment. It is really really annoying. I swear I've seen entire pages here of nothing but quotes with short "good work" replies. is it not enuf to simply say, "good work"? Do you REALLY need to quote the entire post, plus images, to say that?
EDIT: I mean, if we're reading this thread we've almost certainly seen the images you're "good jobbing", so no need to repost them.
I got this from someone else. please read to understand my reasons and meaning. :: http://www.river.com/users/share/etiquette/

While it's probably not the intent, full-quoting in essence says to the reader, "You are not important enough to me for me to bother trimming out these screenfulls of quoted text. You will just have to wade through them.""

Hans, I just went to the HAHD site to register. A bit of constructive critizem if I may. All written in The Agreement is written in a very light blue and I could not read it. But I agreed anyway. :yep: Then when the registration page showed up I couldn't figure out how to fill it out. Also didn't know what or who type in for a referal. I'll check back there again in a few days and see if I can read and what to do in the registration page.
Otherwise the HAHD site looks great, and from what I saw the mod will be fantastic. I can't wait to see how it will play. You guys are doing a 10 star job. :yeah:

Hi mate,
Sorry for the late reply i have my hand full with just another new feature:Kaleun_Salivating:.
For the positive criticism it is always welcome since it is the only way we can better ourselves, the light typo for the agreement is probably hard to read because who would took the time to register on our forum if they knew they have to give us their bank account to get in!:k_rofl:
Ok more seriously i didn't have the time to look at this but will eventually, the board we are using is not always easy to modify since the style sheet are layout in an obscure fashion.
If you still have any problem registering just send a pm to reaper and he will manually sign you in but so far a lot of people have registered without any problem.
And thank for the good words for our team because we need that fuel to push ourselves to the limit. :Kaleun_Salute:

Hi GT182, what type web browser are you using? I've checked the signup page and can see no real issue with it.
Text is a very light blue (almost white on a Navy blue background), is it this you find difficult to see. We could look at trying to alter the colour if this is the case.
As for filling in the application, Referrer:is the name of a user that referred you to the site, if none just leave it blank.
Image Verification is there to prove you are Human and not a spam bot, you need to type in the 2 words displayed - if you cant make out the words click the new challenge button to generate 2 new words.
The rest of the options are not mandatory these are just personal settings and cane be left at default if you wish.
If you still have trouble, then as Hans has mentioned send me a PM and i'll set you up.
:salute:
Thanks Hans and Reaper. Off to give it a go again. If I have problems I'll be in touch. :salute:
Oh BTW, my web browser is IE8. The pages as they show with IE8 on HAHD are white with the light blue text . Maybe once I register I can change over to the Navy Blue background and will be able to read the text better.
My HAHD registration was successful. Thanks fellas. :salute:

ok. i've been told this might work.

Hi shipmates,
It's been awhile since the last update but rejoice because this new feature will please many sea lover!
If you remember in the early video U-Boot_HAHD shown a nice little flat texture for the seafloor and damn i was so proud of it but after looking at the video i said to myself Hans this could look way better so let's try some stuff.
Then i push the boundary again on that aging game engine and surely it didn't disappoint, at first i was convince the game engine would never be able to run all this and to my great surprise it did perfectly well at a whopping 156 fps simply amazing how much recent video card can handle.
So here it is guy's and it is all ready for December release HAHD Ocean alive 1.0, :Kaleun_Cheers: i name it 1.0 because it will be update with more sea mammals and more fish species according to their habitat in the different oceans.
Remember when i told you that some features in HAHD would beat even SH5 on the graphic level, i was not lying!
HAHD ocean alive finally bring sea life in the dull and dead ocean, we now have big plants variety, anemone, urchin, seaweed, seagrass, algea, plankton, crabs, sardines, Kelp bass, cod, sea lion, shark, Octopus, dolphin, whales, polar bear, pinguins, sea turtle, manta ray and many more to come.
Sound exciting but wait it is even better, each plants are animated and gently move with the wave, all fish are realistically animated and spawn randomly so each time you dive it will never be the same, we also have realistic plankton floating with the water movement.
Most fish are generated randomly via the particle system that the beauty of using animated 3D object and use in particle object to make them disappear over time and i use the underwater fog to my advantage so fish are spawning where the player cannot see.
I made the environment area roughly 5 square miles and it is distribute around the world but not in deep water simply because the visibility is almost null and that we don't want to spend resources on place the player cannot see.
The terrain bring some refreshing elevation since the stock game seafloor is almost flat everywhere and it give us the opportunity to have nice dancing caustic light on the seafloor. I tried to put a big plane object to cover the whole ocean floor but it didn't work because the terrain is not completely flat like i tough but have very subtle elevation that made my plane flicker with the proximity of the seafloor so i drop it.
I will also make a lite version for folks with lower specs system without animation, when surface there is no problem because i use the visible underwater controller that doesn't render underwater object when surface saving frame rate.
Ok enough talking here the candy enjoy :Kaleun_Binocular: :
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac68/Hans_Witteman/cod_01.jpg
This preview show the fps at 156 and you have swimming cods bank + the sub in view and zillions of plankton particle, can you imagine there is still a lot of room to play with.

I can appreciate that. Many of the stock models are just too simplistic, but when I tried to tweak the skins to make them look most used and abused I struggled because of the way the stock artfiles are used for more than one area.
Not like making skins for airplanes where the worst thing might be a mirrored skin where the both sides of the fuselage or the wings may share the same artfile.

Yes like Hans has mentioned the stock UV's are a nightmare. But HAHD models will all be reworked with complete new UV's for every section - so that means Hulls will have both sides separated :yeah:
Also once we release the Mod, we will be making the PSD Templates available so everyone will be free to create new skins for the Fleet. :salute:
Here is an example of one of the HAHD Trawlers PSD Templates.

Hi shipmates,
Finally the work horse of the Kriegsmarine is now in full swing, no U-boat in any game ever made will come close to the historical precision and detail then the HAHD one.
All boat in HAHD are model using cross sections plan when available to ensure precise hull shape here what a cross section plan look like :
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac68/Hans_Witteman/Cross_section_plan.jpg
Here you can see various cross section applied to the side of the hull showing you how precise the model is :

I even re model the anchor the HAHD standard:

To show the amount of detail here you can see the welding lines on the pressure hull :

Hi, Hans, my friend.
Sorry.
U-boot-hahd.com became even more difficult to read with new background... and kept the same errors and speed of a tortoise.
:nope:
Hi shipmates,
Finally the work horse of the Kriegsmarine is now in full swing, no U-boat in any game ever made will come close to the historical precision and detail then the HAHD one.

well done with the University Postalbyke ! bravo to you !
when a professional is telling you that all these beauties that you see are,at the same time, less demanding you have just to be sure about it. he explained at a post his 'revolutionary' (for the sh3's standars) technique which is a) deleting unessecery polygons(which are not vissible to player and 'eating' ram), b) reducing polygon numbers via a smooth technique (look at post 3014 about it) and c) redesign and retexture the 3d models to be extreme accurate and realistic.
all these are a real hard work and need a lot of time to be complete but it is just this : Hans is the 'Oleg' of Silent Hunter and he is making a so AMAZING work so far .
for the main menu music ,look at our site for a thread called ''Main Theme Music''. you can vote at the u-tube votes or at your post in this thread (i will look at all posts and count the votes when the time come). still there will be some suggestions so you can make yours too ,the theme is open.

But frst comes the basics before a new experience can be declared.
Every time i visit the website i think what the heck is going on there with all that "Blinky" things?
And why are all texts half transparent and can_t properly read by someone?
Please stop this foolness so that web pages can be legibly read.

Hi guy's,
We appreciate every positive critics but so far nobody seem to have trouble visiting our website and for myself i can read and navigate very easily on the forum and my vision is far from perfect since i wear glasses.
Probably due to different system configuration and OS.
My best advice is use ctrl and the + key on your keyboard this will zoom in and the - key will zoom out.
When you first visit the site it is normal to see all those blinking light since all the post are not read from you, you can easily stop them by just double clicking on them.
To be honest we only had wonderful critics about the layout so to please everyone is impossible.
Also we do all that for free!
EDIT: I also forget to mention a very important factor that can explain easily why some have trouble and it is the different screen default brightness setting today there is so many screens with so many default setup that it is impossible to adjust for every single one of them so again my advice just tone down a bit your brightness on your screen. By the way you will hurt your vision quickly with high brightness on your screen!
My system specs: Intel quadcore I-7 2600k
16 GB of G-skill ram
Radeon HD 6900 series 2 GB
Monitor: Dell U2312HM
Windows 7 pro 64 bits
Browser: Firefox latest version

Hi mate,
Thank for your comment it is appreciated from us and so far i test everything in both Firefox and internet explorer latest version and all look fine.
I wont test it for every single browser that exist since my time is better use at polishing my work on U-BOOT_HAHD.
By the way the fonts on forum are not transparent only the background is and it is set at 70% opacity so that more then enough to have clear fonts for reading. Like i said i wear glasses and i have no problem reading them at all.

Hi Anvart,
You guy's must have a non conventional setup on your machine since 99% of the forum members see this :
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac68/Hans_Witteman/Snap2012-11-06at013606.jpg
Can you specify what browser and what config you are running because you are unfortunately the exception to the rule.
Also try Firefox since it is more secure and better then internet explorer. The problem i can see is that some of you are running on very old version of internet explorer and these versions do not support transparency that might be your problems folks. Keep your software updated to the very last version because the world is evolving fast on the web. Having 2 browsers is very simple and pretty handy.
If you guy's still have problem i will see with reaper if we can put a setting to allow you to change background but i cannot guarantee we can do it on our setup.
Best regards Hans

Here some microsoft troubleshooting for stack overflow error :http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q145799
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q149083
And here a quick way to get rid of it forever : Try going to IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and select "Disable Scritpt Debugging"
Also UNselect "Display a notification about every script error"
It apply only to good ole internet explorer that they never fix.

I had it always:
Sorry, Hans i have correct setup on my machine... only my onboard (in-built) video does not support any shader models... but other sites looks normally, i have problems on HAHD only... i think, it's site design problems... and the form should not overwhelm the content.
... and i will not be change the i.explorer.
... these links are not relevant to our problem, i think.
Hi Alex,
I think that with your new build all these problem will be gone and for the moment just install a Firefox browser this will not remove internet explorer you can have as many browser as you like install on 1 machine.
I have 2 browser on my system and i use both for different purpose.
If we had many complaints we would have fix anything wrong but we do not have those complaints so it is impossible for us to track every single people setup.
There is no big deal having 2 browsers.
Best regards Hans

Hi, Hans.
First problem is very simple, i think.
My video does not implement the transparency of the background image on your site... (in Photoshop all OK :haha:).
Second problem - not fully compatible with IE...
Earlier message was at each transition from one page to another... now, only when i'm returning to the previous page (picture in #3131)... and speed is became higher.
I think, you optimized the site to work...?
Good luck.
Alex
Hi Alex,
Like i said my friend just install a second browser like firefox and problem solve in less then 2 min.
It is perfectly working with the latest version of internet explorer just look at brett post he just mention it.
So it is probably like you said that old video card could not deal with transparency.
For the stack overflow no one else have report this on our forum so far.
Sorry you have problem Alex but you also have solutions, probably the language barrier not helping here.
Best regards Hans
Calm down, Hans. I'm well understand you and your friend, the language barrier is not to blame...

Hi Alex,
Just like you i was tempted to buy the U2412M but unfortunately all reviews mention blur and ghosting in fast games so that why i opt for U2312M.
That totally understandable since you have more screen to display on the U2412M .
U2412M is more aim toward graphic work then gaming so that why i choose the U2312M since it can do both admirably well.
Best regards Hans

AKA Upholder of the Steel-Sharks/Uboot-Hahd Group
working hard on adding more single ships to our random lair for the Uboot-Hahd Campaign also the scripted lair is 13.4 meg at the moment i will be adding more convoy traffic in the mediterranean theatre we wanted the campaing to appeal to all types for players & SH3 groups whether your a sigle player or a player belonging to a SH3 multiplayer group like at Steel-Sharks where five uboats in a stationary recce line infront of a incomming convoy once all uboats are in contact with convoythe multiplayer mission is written with same ships from same convoy same ship positions & cargo loadouts same crew class same escorts all you need is a player in your group that can write a multiplayer mission if you want to play a campaign you dont even need a website just a proboards forum there free & you can play a campaign just like at the & Steel-Sharks
ALL YOU NEED IS A FEW GOOD MEN
PS WATCH THIS SPACE WHEN THE MOD IS RELEASED I WILL BE WRITING UBOOT-HAHD MISSIONS FOR SUBSIM

blackswan40, I have a question for you: have you been able to avoid historical inconsistencies such as an outbound convoy coming from the arctic en route to Scotland or northern England with their decks loaded with planes, tanks etc...
Did you manage to "empty" those inbound ships? Thank you for your efforts! :Kaleun_Salute:
blackswan40
12-23-12, 05:38 AM
Hi Victor Schutze yes sir outbound unlaidend convoys like the ONS convoys just have general cargo to represent balast but they will have
escort oilers t2 tankers & empire celt takers to refuel the escorts
when im researching convoys i use convoy web and warsailors.com
tells you port of leaving date & time destination port no of merchant ships & tonage of ships
ship loadouts no of escort & ship name & nationality when theres a norwiegen t2 tanker in a convoy theres no norwiegen t2 tanker in the sh3 ship roster so we use the brt t2 tanker but have NOR infront of its name
Hans is very big on making the uboot-hahd mod the best graphicaly & as historicaly acurate as we can get it thats why we wrote he steel sharks campaign in the scripted lair also our convoys have 30 days to cross the atlantic jan 1st 1941 entry date feb 1st 1941 exit date & dose not respawn also no % probobility of some ships respawning or not so its same convoy for all players if these convoys were in the random lair respawning every 48-100 hrs from sep-39 to may-45 you would have convoys sailing through each other yuk you can only sink the queen mary once
hans may have some surprises for us all he may have tweaked the ship loadouts but dont quote me on that when Hans Reaper Makman me Act & Dano had our meeting of minds so to speak they asked how our campaign worked they were very interested we gave them our campaign files & said they could use them in the uboot-hahd campaign we use the prowlers of the deep mod from a sh3 clan long dispanded but we had there permision to use it or alter it the main members of that group were
ravenshield & hanfon the prowlers of the deep mod puts 72 new ships into sh3 & 11 new aircraft Hans said at time of release they will be 12 remoddled ships from stock sh3 & in time the potd mod ships will get the uboot-hahd treatment
im just the small cog in the uboot-hahd Steel-Sharks wheel i know nothing about re moddleing ships harbours ports but it gives me goose bumps just tobe part of it when the uboot-hahd mod is released it will the best thing
since edward sissor hands got a job at warburtons bakery who wants a bacon buttie with hp sauce!!!!

here is a preview of the menu screens of u-boot-hahd mod . note that this is a preview and some (or all) backgrounds may change . the last one , for example, belongs to the upcoming 'Silent Hunter Online' and ,if there are objections ,we will remove it for sure.
the good 'eyes' may catch that the ui is running at 1680x1050 (16:10) and also there is one more version for it at the 1600x900 (16:9) . we will see if there will be any other versions but i don't think that will be needed

I'm going to be honest here....
I kind of don't want this megamod to release, because....
It will overwrite much of the previous work of several years with models in HAHD, and HAHD models appear to be much better in many ways, and....
it will ruin my life because I will have to implement it over my current install overlapping much effort I've put in older models and previous mods.

hello to all ,
here is a teaser of the U-Boot-HAD UI showing the Attack Scope:
http://youtu.be/XHpo-mOV0nQ
this video is an early state of the UI and a lot images have reworked or redesigned at the final files. the UI ,at this video is running at 1680x1050 (many thanks to Seeadler for his support ).
this is just the Attack Scope but you can bet that the surprises don't stop here . if you like what you see , your mind will 'explode' at the rest pages but lets keep some secrets for later.... http://www.u-boot-hahd.com/forums/images/smilies/Kaleun_Wink.gif
the whole ui is written that way so everyone would be able to customize it at his tastes with some absolutely simple steps.(instructions will be provided with the release).
Some hot spots that you may notice at video are:
1. impact angle dial (for first time appearing in Sh3. hacking the .exe was needed in order to add the maths for this VERY important dial . it took us more than a month just to make it work 100%. hacking the .exe is very hard task but thanks to John's abbilities ,we manage to get the maths in the .exe)
2. 'open tubes' levers (for first time appearing in Sh3)
3. a new designed from scratch ,fully accurate, AoB finder tool (thanks to Karamazovnew-one of the best ui designer i know- idea , i made it with reversed colors so it doesn't slap user's eyes during deep nights .the result is in your monitors)
4. much much more that the carefull eyes will notice(such as the removed glasses from TDC when on manual mode or enhanced secondary orders...etc) but less importance than the above three.
Enjoy...

Not having been on the SH3 scene for a few years ( I got immersed in SH5) I am delighted that SH3 is still improving. This new Super Mod HAHD looks awesome! I have spent most of the past six hours reading this thread and watching all the videos. I will certainly be reinstalling SH3 again, as this Historically Accurate Highly Detailed mod will bring SH3 to a new level. I am not going to try and compare it to the other super mods because I thought GWX Gold was as good as its going to get. So if HAHD is going to improve SH3 as good as if maybe better then BRILLIANT! SH5 still has a way to go yet to be on par with SH3 except that it is graphically the best yet. So I am looking forward to its release as much as everyone else and hope that we may see it sometime later in the year. I must get SH3 GWX installed again and get used to playing it again, as I haven't played it for a few years. Hat's off to Hans and all his team who have joined forces to create what I have seen and read about so far. :Kaleun_Applaud: Well I am just going to make a coffee and get to bed, it's 3am and I am beginning to fall asleep.

This project must be completed, to many subsimers, me included are awaiting it with great anticipation! I've been following this thread for quete some time, and would hate to see it go uncompleted. Please stay with it HAHD Team, because from what I've seen this will be a step up from all other previous mods for SH3! Regarding website going down the last few days, I've finally figured out whats going on and its bad news.
The registration of the domain name has expired, I was sure it was set to auto-renewal but alas no it was on manual ;(
This is due to me having moved our domain hosting from ipage to dreamhost, so while the site is still there files forums and all, the road sign to show the way is removed.
Tried to renew it but it won't allow me with out paying big administration costs untill it goes available to public in 45 days whereby it can be bought again.
Only other option is to pick a new domain name instead to get us back up and running something like www.uboothahd.com

I got a reply from iPage and the site registered name (u-boot-hahd.com) has been locked down and cannot be transferred to dreamhost (Current hosters).
The complete process till it becomes available to be released to the public and bought again is almost 90 days, its 30 days in already so 2 months left.

Forget about HAHD, the whole thing was a con from the get go. Sad but foreseeable outcome. :nope: :wah:
Any reason why you suddenly post this? I haven't seen any announcement of the project being abandoned :hmmm:, and I have seen many others that took longer but in the end delivered, making the wait well worth it. :hmm2:

Check the forums: http://www.u-boot-hahd.de/forums/index.php
No posts for ages, not a drop of a line from the team. It would only take a few seconds to say -at least- "hello, we'll work on the project in the future" but nothing, nada. This is at best total disregard for the supporters of the project, in the worst scenario, which I favor heavily, a let down of the whole project. I've been following the project since Hans said he undertakes it. I knew he was biting more than he could chew. My prognostic was, alas, right.
I think they have worked too much for too long to abandon now. Even if they can't put in all they would have wanted, they will sooner or later draw a line and release what they have.
In other conditions I would also be dissapointed not to see updates, but considering all the stuff we have and are enjoying already for SH3 the delay of HAHD doesn't bother me at all. I can wait while patrolling the seas with beautiful supermods and mods for the supermods ... HAHD will come when it comes :ping:

remember hans was away for a while we need to be patient and realize that they have lives themselves and may not be able to dedicate 8 hours a day to the mod. they also respect us enough, i am sure, to tell us if they have given up.
we have to have patience the kind of work they are doing takes time

Even if that turns out to be true, for which we have no evidence but your word, calling it "a con from the get go" is saying they were lying from the start. Unless you have absolute proof of that, then you are slandering them and bordering on outright attack, which is not allowed on these forums.
From the forum by Hans...
Update Hi shipmates,
As i can see some of you are again jumping on the panic button way too quickly! The project is not dead at all it is only on ice for the moment.
I am still working like a nut on my new business and time fly by so fast! Also i don't see the point coming every week saying the project is on ice that would be redundant.
With all the amount of work already put up in this huge project it would be very stupid not to release it one day but like i said before reality often force us to do thing we are less passionate about for living.
I even did some more modeling on type VII-C last weekend mainly the stern deck and conning tower interior, i will try to update some preview for next weekend.
The world of free is great but it is always a question of patience before the good are release.
Darn just look at the Duke nukem game it took the guy's 12 years to release a total crap sequel and here we are talking about a triple AAA commercial product!
Also GWX is still an excellent option for people until we release it's not like you are stuck with the vanilla version of SH3.
I will do my best to update more frequently. http://www.u-boot-hahd.de/forums/images/smilies/Kaleun_Salute.gif
Best regards Hans

Couple of observations:
1) The 80-80 Rule of Software Development. The first 80% of the project will be completed it the first 80% of the estimated time. The remaining 20% will be completed in the remaining 80%. (Or more. Sometimes much, much more!)
2) If HAHD never sees the light of day, we will have gotten exactly what we paid for. That doesn't seem to give us much cause for complaint. YMMV.
BTW, suppose the reason Hans went inactive was because he really had a death in his family. Would you still be ROFL? Words matter. Please be careful with them.

Hi Guys, just to confirm the HAHD is far from dead. While their has been nothing happening over the last few months develo9pment will eventually be continued again and the Mod will be released.
Currently as it stands this is the current state.
User Interface is completed: In fact there are 2 complete UI's available
One at the stock resolution and another running at full 1680*1050
This is a first for SH3.
Campaign is almost completed.
many 3D models are created including the TypeII
A lot of ship models to be done yet though, but with only Hans working on 3D (And at the moment on hold due to real-life issues this will take a while).
I'm currently working on a realtime tracking solution that will show every players position in real time on a Google earth map - this i'm developing to also have a 100% accurate Grid Map as used by the Kreigsmarine.
Also I'm working on another project not related directly to HAHD but will make playing SH3 a totally new experience for many.
I hope to have something to show soon,so stay tuned for that.
Thanks Guys, Don't give up hope. :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

Bad news on the old site u-boot-hahd.com:
The old Domain name went into 3month suspended mode previously after issues due to transfer from the old hosting group ipage and our current superior dreamhost.
The old register name went up today for public purchase but alas on of these companies that buy up domainnames for resale took it from me, may they be sunk to the ocean depths.
So alas they are looking for big money to sell it back, so I have decided to just buy a new domain name for u-boot-hahd (Still have this one while I transfer the site to the new domain name).
I have aquired and setup the following domain name:
http://www.uboothahd.com :Kaleun_Periskop:
The domain name http://www.u-boot-hahd.de will then be redirected to the new one so both are active and pointing to the same location.
See you there. :Kaleun_Salute:

Alright... Appears to be working now. It's a shame with the domain name issues.

Hopefully all is working now for all, would have been a few issues after the first few hours. Due to domain name propagating thru the DNS servers on the net.
