just one question (trying your list)

TDW periscope features are missin.

When looking through scope, i was able to engage filters. :damn:
Another feature is missing. Looking through periscope, i cant open anymore the torp doors. Instead there are only torp tubes 1-5 and the fire button. No more switches for opening torp doors.:damn:

Is this normal?:ping:

Try deactivate the 'No lock text mod' in your list.

Yes i deactivated No lock text mod and it was this mod that "ruined" TDW gui.

You can't run them with the TDW's New UIs TDC mod.
These mods are for use with another UI > Reaper7's Ui-boat. ;)

I've currently got the mods setup this way, I checked their documentation and there are a few that claim need to be installed last. Only just today did I first experience any ctd's, very annoying since it was the first time any destroyers were trying to hunt me down.

Between the crashing and my sub getting hit by depth charges it got quite annoying. It was only when I reloaded my save for the fifth time, that I managed to escape without crashing.

I updated my mods based on Steel's suggestions except the sound mod.

Only problems I noticed is in historic mission conered giant if you sink the bismark it will freeze the game.

if you use TDW FX Fix for Sobers chimney smoke then donīt need to put Sobers chimney smoke because the fix include this. Iīm sure the ctd is not for this but just for you to know.

Also R.E.M. shall be installed (including TDW UBoot_Sensors.sim for R.E.M. version 1.2) after Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_byTheBeast, see here:

This 4Gb Patch will only patch the .exe file you choose in the dialogue box (sh5.exe).

As your OS is win7 32bit - you would want the 3gig patch rather than the 4 gig.

This are different mods.
- HanSolo is for ships
- Soberīs is for the factory smoke
- TDW FX & Chimney : with this after FX_upgrade 0.19 from TDW you have the TDW light from light houses & Soberīs chimeny smoke all together, so you donīt need soberīs (Nš=84 any more)

I seem to have the same problem after upgrading the Equipment Upgrades Fix from version 1.2 to 1.4...

Hello everybody.

I cannot for the life of me load a second patrol once i hit port (kiel, 1939). I follow the instructions (no tutorial mission). But I like to make my first patrol a "training mission". So I take my boat in deep waters and make my trials, then head back to Kiel.

So, once I get to Kiel, I check the "end patrol", the bunker loads, but then, when I try to go on the second mission, pouf! CDT and a windows message saying Silent Hunter doesn't work anymore...

I have a Envy17 i7 1.60 ghz quad core with 8 gigs ram and ATI 5850

I can navigate through Kiel ok (even with mtns full mod), but the problem is that once I finish one patrol, I cannot load the next one (I manage to get to the bunker and then that's it)

Any help will be appreciated, because I am unable to play, and I have arranged, rearrenged, my mod soup to no avail...

I am sorry SS,

tried your suggestions but still get CTDs.

It has something to do with the saving process in the harbour.

It works really well until i i click on the anchor icon. Then CTD.

Installed 3GB patch, the other tools you mentioned.

It has definitely with the bunkers/home port to do. I cant save my first mission. CTD.

Btw, I found some inconcistencies in my modsoup. I think FX doesn't fare well with chimney smoke v2 and BRF). I just took them out. Halfway through my testing (5 hours in a row today) and it seems to at least load a second patrol from bunker to the kiel port.

Hi Kaleuns,

i tried a new campaign and had always a CTD when wanted to save game in bunker. So i thought it has something to do with the animation.
I dleted

No Logo Intro Menu_Animation v. 01.00 by AvM=1

and now it works. :yeah:
So i will go on and make mission #2 in the campaign.

Mod-soup gurus - two questions for you:

1. What's stopping my oil slicks from appearing (FX Update)? I sometimes get black 'smoke ghosts' standing vertically in the water when on deck after a sinking, and think they're being messed up somewhere.

2. Any possible CTDs causes or mod conflicts - I had a CTD last night as a torp hit a small ship, so something is still wonky.

Hey Silent Steel, just a heads up: I also had both those mods in use, so I decided to compare them before disabling Capthelm's as per your suggestion. I found that there are less sounds in Capthelms, but many are very different sounds than Stormy's. I also found a few that were in the former but not the latter. I think one would have to have a listen to each file and compare them to see which they prefer, then maybe even make a hybrid by copying the ones they like from Capthelm's into Stormy's, which is what I ended up doing after reading your post. :yeah:

This was for sure a FX_17 problem and realy should be working in v19:hmmm:
Are you sure it has unzipped correctly etc

Yeah, I've just reinstalled the whole game from scratch after a full wipe, and have been using FX Update since 0.16.2 in various modsoup combinations, none of which have ever shown oil slicks. Been using 0.19 since it was released, nothing. Tried installing just FX Update on its own - nothing. Tried pretty much everything at this point. :(

I'm sure you're right. :haha: This to me kinda points to damage assignment or calculation as the culprit, maybe Real Sink, or something that alters how the damage is allocated. Could be critical hits with torps maybe, if it returns a damage value the game can't cope with? Thoughts?

Ohh, now you're asking.. was a while ago. From memory, I'd started from 1939 /Coastal Waters and moved all the way through to Operation Drumbeat without even being given access to the BOLD1 (:o). Might have been the 7b, but can't remember... interesting if it's the sub rather than the upgrades causing the problem?

Hey thanks for the reply Magic! :yeah: But are you sure about this, because I see other players out there using different orders, like sober who has IRAI after NewUIs, for example. This makes me wonder now whether or not there's a certain order that doesn't work and other combos that do, and if so, what are they? :hmmm:

Hopefully, TDW can put this all to rest with the final say.

Staying away from the larger mods for the time being.

Embarrassing to admit this, but... fixed it! Having Dynamic Environment Basemod (and possibly others, I didn't test) installed after FX_Update prevents the oil slicks from appearing. I moved Dynamic Environment & all component mods (realistic waves, atlantic floor etc) before FX_Update in the mod list and they're showing up just fine.

Daft not to have thought of that, what a wally I am! Now we know at least - install Dynamic Environment & all components before FX_Update to avoid this problem! :oops::har:

Those are the bare essentials imo (install in that order). Those five have everything you need to turn SH5 into an excellent game. :up:

IRAI, FX, then NewUi is the official order. Maybe TDW should still update his mod threads with this info.

So, with this being the correct order, I would imagine that other people who are not using this order are not getting the full use of the mod, or they are introducing (potential) problems (like I actually had) to their soup mix.

Actually, I am using "6.4 test 7" from last year, because that was the most stable for me. Anything after that caused problems for me, so I stayed with that since it satisfies my needs. With that in mind, what you are saying makes me think that there's a possibility that some of the problems I recently encountered were because I tried the new FX and IRAI, but using the older NewUI. Thanks for that info.

lol .. my old memory can't remember which ones I used exactly :D. I think I did go with whatever Stormy had after listening to the duplicate files. I agree with you that "IMO there's no need for any 'extra' sound mods than Stormy's" and that you really don't even need to move over Capthelm's stuff. It's a matter of choice as to which sounds are preferable, and maybe even semantics at that point, I guess.

I copied over Capthelm's stuff, and didn't overwrite Stormy's stuff, which allowed any Capthelm's files to be added that Stormy's didn't have. Capthelm's is just audio files, so I wouldn't imagine any conflicts adding his to Stormy's. Stormy's has scripts and other things as well, so you'd want to use Stormy's as your base, then copy the Capthelm files that Stormy's lacks, and choose which of Capthelm's duplicate files you prefer to copy over, if any.

In regards to comparing files, I just went in to compare the "Torpedo tube opening" files as I write this. They both appear to be the same, except that Stormy's has a little extra in the beginning, and I preferred that one. Another example would be that Capthelm's "amb_SubmarineInterior_Q" has some droplets and is far quieter than Stormy's, the latter being louder and having more chat, sniffles, drops, etc. And Capthelm's fix uses a really quiet interior sound file, so someone who wants a quiet interior would be better off using Capthelm's in this example (I prefer Stormy's interior sound file, btw).

It's a good mega mod, but it's getting a bit long in the tooth, at least to my taste. So many new mods have come out in the meantime that aren't included that I'd rather use, so I've made my own soup (when I say "my own" I mean "following the example of others with my personal preferences added.")

Still, using it does save you having to work through the usual trouble, so it's not a bad mod at all.

For sure there can be conflicts and will probably be in the future as well. What's important is - which files get overwritten?
In which mods?
How does that affect the actual mod's features?

As you now can tell exactly which mods in your list conflict with some other mod/mods the only way to find out exactly which files get overwritten is to load such a list myself.

But hang on - I'll give it a shot but not until tomorrow, we have a birthday party on. Tomorrow..

Hello.

I just buyed myself the Silent Hunter 5 and want toplay it with Mods.

I just got a Modlist from Marinesims.de (as i play German Version) but
got Problems with the Modlist. Problem is that every Single Merchant is
racing with Fullspeed over the Map. And i had 1-2 CTDs aswell.

try this order, it should help with the CTD's:

- Open Horizon Patch
- DeutschMod
- Accurate German Flags

If you want to use Stormys DBSM Mod, it should go between Dynamic Environment and Open Horizon Mod

Today i played with "Kontaktaktualisierung" on Map. I got infront of a Fast Moving Polish Merchant and on around 6km Range i dived on Peri Depth. He then starts Pulling from a NW to a SW Course.

I tought: "wtf? how could he see me?"

Is there any Mod where i can improve my Sighting Range and decrease the AI Ships? Is it common that Ships can see that far on my Boat?

The Patrol Routine doesn't appear to have worked however as there's nothing in the automation list. Oh well, never mind. One thing that is slightly annoying is the officer's name/rank/position doesn't show in the portrait tooltips in the UI mod. No doubt something else I've done wrong.

I'm essentially going for a bit of better graphics, more control and slowly learning how to, eventually, try the Realism mod. I'm worried now though in case I break anything! :D

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in not only investing all of the time and care into any of the above, but also making them freely available (and ensuring it stays free).

Yes, that's sleet.

As for water streaks - if you want to get them smaller you can try the 'Sober's smaller water drops' mod.
You'll no get any drops but still get the streaks.

Hey. I've had some weird crashes lately, after changing mods. All kinda same place, some English port where I sinking Big Tanker ships that docked there. Another weird thing is that ships cant properly sink in docks, because sea level is very low, that fine but when they hit sea floor they start move weirdly sometime (not every time), jumping around etc. When ship explode half, both or one part could start also jumping around.

No Logo Intro Menu_Animation v. 01.00 by AvM


Anything I am missing? That is needed. I want my experience to be realistic have all the bugs fixed, and challenging. Hopefully I am set for that.
Note, I did patch to 1.02, and did TDW custom patching... So I especially want to make sure my mod order will fix the hydrophone on surface, etc... So everything is realistic not buggy and is a challenge. That is what makes the game fun.

Also the antilag is applied I have set for 30fps

My system is:

XP sp3 32 bit
3.5 gig ram
250 gig HD(magnetic)
Pentium D 3.0 GHZ
Nvidia Geforce9800gt 1 gig ddr memory (updated drivers)

the BARF is not compatible with the FX Update..
try to use this one - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=193825

you must install REM last (after IRAI), but at first read whole this thread - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=184224
it doesn't take much time

Ok here is the problem. First of all with this DBSM he's wispering on deck, then shouting which doesn't make sense. What other sound mods are good? I like the external sounds I wish I had the SH3, repeat orders, with bell sound... Second of all hydrophone sitll picks up on surface, I don't even think its working. My mods must be overlapping something the "sensors.cfg" or some file like that? Does everyeone else here get all bugs sort out? DO I need to get the no hudrophone on surface, fix etc or does it come in DBSM because surely its not working

Ok here is my list in word format. Please make any suggestions if I'm missing anything for example, with equipment fixes and include it in the new order. NOTE: I want MFCM, but with Pascal uniforms.

Largely based out of sobers mod list. I had Stormys DBSM, but the game began to ctd after a few months game time in the campaign so a removed it and replaced with the sound mods in the list, that helped and the game has been stable since. I have the disc version and using TDW`s sh5.exe patches and the 4gig patch. (Win7 64)

You don't need Magnum Opus.

I have no experience with the other mods you mentioned so I would recommend you follow sober's mod list. It works and lots of us use it. Here is my list, based on sober's:

I have been able to play mission like "wolfpacks" with this MODs activated and the game look gorgeous,, but in the others historical mission I only get a black screen, no load, can't play historical missions.....Any suggestions about this? two things i noticed. The first one is, that my dials are not the choosen one
"Church's Compass Dials Mod v2.2 - Option Three", it is the "stock" dial from TDWīs UI.:hmmm:

The second i noticed, itīs only running without the 4gig switch:06:. When itīs enabled i get ctd while loading the game after the bunker! With the stock exe it works.
i running Win7 64bit, Intel I7 with 4gb ram.:hmmm:
Edit2: After searching here and in the internet i have come to the decision, that i didnīt need it.

Then there is a "data" folder, for what is it? Which mod?

At least, i think you cannot use dynamic and real enviroment together, you have to make a dicision for only one enviroment mod, there you can use additional mods for the repektive.

my "mod" list, after installing "Eqp_Upgrades_fix_v1.4 dates by sober Patch V2" Schnorkel not work.
One time change the date to 01/01/1938 Schnorkel to test the other submarines.
and does not operate. does not appear in the installed submarine

Ahoy ,i am a casual gamer and i like to keep the game a bit EASIER then stock-game.Yes my TDC always stays off too:oops:
I honoustly have no clue if the mod-order is ok or conflicts, but i am nearly a week a member here so please can some MOD-PRO:sunny: give this noob:oops: some advice?
Only problem i sometimes have is that i cant manual change direction of the boat anymore then i am forced to use waypoints to change direction:/\\!! ,or save/reload that works too.
I mostly `copied` from Captain Trevally`s modlist (cheers:rock:) but i added some other mods in the end to set my own `low/easier` standard.:hmmm:

Your mod list looks ok to me:up:

For steering your boat - you can click on the compass (bottom left) and a large compass will appear - this can also be clicked on to set heading.

Or click the small button beside the flat compass and when you click on it - your heading will match.

Or you can look where you want (binos or scope or just on the bridge) and click the watch officer and tell him to match heading to view

The game is patched with TDWīs patcher, great work of him :woot::yeah:
Donīt running 4gig switch! :up:

I had to change the positions of "großdeutscher Rundfunk" and "Accurate German Flags" (opposite to the sequence of sobers list). Otherwise this two mods didnīt working correct.

Thankīs to all for any help, thankīs to all the modders who making this game to a breathtaking experience. :up:

Actually everthing is working fine. :rock:

This list is based on casual-fun-gaming,not on historical facts or difficulty.
Perhaps some mods are not needed or already included in other mods on the list? Perhaps i miss some?
Perhaps mod loading-order is wrong?

You have the R.E.M. mod, you have to Take care that this Mod is installed After all Mods which have the file Ubootsensors.sim in it. Just search the file Within your MODS folder.

Before you enable the R.E.M you have to replace the Ubootsensors.sim in the R.E.M. Mod with this modified one

A few minor flaws though. When I click the torpedo man or the icon for the Captain's log the game freezes. And sometimes the screen freezes but you hear the game continue. Any suggestions to fix that, or suggestions for other mods, are very welcome!

hi everyone lurker here;

i droped sh5 in the past cause all was broken, no i pick it up again and see there is many many mods!
however i have problem,

1. i have steam version, ok no patcher for me...or i have to use exe from 1.2 patch

2. i try play the one megamod by shizzle(?) and i used patcher on exe i switched out, like suggested, i used gps snapshot file in patcher, no manual edit.

3. so i run into regular CTDīs, random, can not reproduce.

now i want to make own mod soup, minimal style, only the most important stuff i could find for me, with NO patcher, i want to use original steam exe to be save;
i have selected mods, however i have no idea of load order and how that work.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'ok no patcher for me' but if you mean you can't use the patcher - take a look at this:

about the patcher;

when i installed the big mod, i did use the patcher on the extracted exe as explained in your/the link. i think i did all right, as said i used snapshot file, no manual error.

yet i had ctd a lot.


now i made test with my mod soup, seem to work so far BUT 1 problem.

the crew does stop to spott or so at one point, i am not sure why. i no longer get "smoke on the horizon" massage, or hydrophone guy does not report bearing update when he is ordered to follow a contact.
they all go silent.

when i use dialog box, they still say something, but they no longer give massages as i described, that leads to no massage in bottom right text box and no time acceleration removal.
means i drive right into contacts with time acceleration :/\\!!

any idea what can cause this?

thanks again for helping me, this is one of the hardest games to mod to not get ctd, that i know.

Hello sailors. So i'm back after more than two years and wanted to play this game again. I noticed a lot of new mods and upgrades. So i used the patcher and installed the following mods but my game crashes when loading missions. I have forgot a lot the last two years so i hope you guys can pin point my wrong doings here and by all means bring on the tips.

That mod list is equivalent to a can of worms.

I am not surprised you are having problems with that mix.

Where do you start with it?

My tutorial Post #35 or Post #23 would at least get you started in to some sort of the correct order.

The others you need to add and test as you will find some are not compatible with some of the latest mods you are using.

I would seriously suggest that you take a look at the Wolves Of Steel mega mod which contains a very large list of mods that all work together.

Thanks for the help, updates and links. Finally got things working and damn this game is still good. Going out on my first campaign in almost 3 years. Now i just need to fine adjust some of the mods. Flags are huge and some other small tweaks. Things are coming back to me when it comes to tweaking some files :D

One question. The ship flag are huge. I think i noticed there is a mod somewhere for smaller flags but i can't seem to find it.
