Thanks for all your efforts w_clear I have enjoyed them very much and love the light fog mod which is very realistic.
I will continue to use your v 5.0.

Hope you will change your mnd and continue to develop the graphics in the game.

This mod conflicts with FX_Update_0_0_9_ByTheDarkWraith.
1) I have to activate this enviromental mod first and overwrite FX_Update_0_0_9_ByTheDarkWraith mod?

or

2) FX_Update_0_0_9_ByTheDarkWraith mod first and then this Enviromental mod?

Just wondering if it could be this mod. When my deckgun rounds hit the target at night, the graphic looks like it is surrounded by a box . . . almost as if I were seeing the part of the graphic that is supposed to be transparent but is NOT.
I found to get rid of the deck gun halo just delete these 2 files from the mod

C:\Silent Hunter 5\MODS\Environment 4.5 MOD\data\Textures\TNormal\tex\expl_hallo.dds
&
C:\Silent Hunter 5\MODS\Environment 4.5 MOD\data\Textures\TNormal\tex\expl_hallo_add.dds

That got rid of the artifact but left everything else intact.

Really like the mod, but had to remove it as it conflicts with DW UI's and my boat no longer holds depth after a crash dive. When removed all is well again, am guesing its conflicting with multiple ui's but not certain as i use u-boat historical specs too, pitty as i like the look of this mod, but holding depth is not a compromise, anyone else seen this.

Installed the mod yesterday and experienced a CTD in the mediteranian sea. I red about quite a few issues with CTD with this mod but thought these were solved...

Or is simply noone playing the mediteranian campaigns anymore (as they are really frustrating)?

I had a lot of CTD in Mare Nostrum, more of them was around Malta where large convoys spawned over merchants.. was a big mess. After just few days I quited the campaign, never got another ctd since then. MN is just a horrible campaign, avoid it at all cost. This mod was fixed already, so I it must be MN.

according to game front none of your stuff is working. I got the first environment mod. Now whenever I go underwater I crash I need the newest one. Also, my computer is a gaming computer so I didn't think I would be getting problems like this.. This just started as well.

Strange things you are talking mate - i know a lot of people that are using his stuff and they had no problems:DL

I think it would be better for you just to looking for solutions - some mods need other mods to be fixed, and so on

I've been checking Google. Just another bug. I restarted the campaign, and it works now. :cool:


On another note, The download link doesn't work anyone know why?

If you will release a new version, can you please reduce the fog in the game? Not sure if you can control this, but 80% of the time is fog out there and is really depressing. I would prefer heavy strom, cloudy sky, hurricanes or anything else than fog.. there is just to much of it.

Stoian managed to make a mod that alternate the weather more often, but thats something like.. 1 sunny day followed by 2 days with fog :/ Better that having a whole week fog as it was before, but still..

What do you say W_clear about Magnum asked you?... i am very interested to have less fog days also and will be great if you can control the random factor from game who give the weather type... i know it can be done...someone did that in sh3... if you are interested i can send you the mod and the link where you can read about what he was doing

This MOD, the new sun, the sun is more brilliant, more realistic halo. Narrowed the scope of AroundSunColor closer to reality. The same place and time, there is no fog, mist and sun, is now very real, when fog or cloud covered the sun, the sun will be red.
All of updating the color of each sea area:

Clear day
Medium cloud day
Heavy cloud day
Light fog day
Heavy fog day

The new five different sunrise(Clear day\Medium cloud day)
More white sea foam. 0 meters sea level wind speed is more calm

1. increase The SUB's left-right drag smaller. Slew of smaller.
2.Added splash of sound submarine.

We can not use this .sim of w_clear in the same time with tdw mods... you can use one or other... in your case you just overitted the w_clear .sim... it is like you not use it

HI there..... have just done a patrol with the new mod and some things are great - night is dark but changes with the moon light and is never too dark. :)

BUT

for a long time in the North sea to the east of England the sea was almost Black in colour...... during day time! Something not quite right there lol

Anyone else seen this yet lol ?

Also I sailed around ALL of Scotland and half of England and the wind never changed from 0 mps. hmmmm..... :hmmm:

thanks for never get tired with your nice enviroment mods :up:

...just wondering a bit why you still nerv your nice work by keeping those "InteractiveObjectHighlights" enabled (Lights.cfg) :dead::06:

...its the same with TDW`s diving dept ("D" key) setting @100 meters in sub`s cfg settings (i cant command dive using "D" key if below 100 meters) :stare::88)

every time i have to delete this casual gamer settings...:D

...i should better move on now :arrgh!:

You can delete NSS_Uboat7x.sim.
I think this is not the best way. It is better to announce what settings to change in the *. sim and make the choice for TDW and MO.

Now I compared the contents of Env5,0 and Real Env. In the current version does not have undergone a change of the particles.dat, FoamBumpy textures and reduced size of the file texture of the clouds.

RE MOD has some problems. I was amended after release.

1.Not more than 48 hours up to climate change。

2.The structure of the cloud is smaller, making the sky larger。

3.Adjustment some of errors in the environmental color 。

I love god rays dont get me wrong, but is there a .cfg setting or something simple like that to "scale them back" a bit? Sometimes the long rays can interfere with the almost perfect "realness" of a scene.

Question @ W_clear,
i posted a concern in relation to this mod and conflict with the No Dam Halo No Dam Bubbles mod, over in the general SH 5 Forum, there is a conflict with the lightscfg files, what are the solution(s) to this?
I have seen a older post in this thread where it discusses a workaround of deleting the lightscfg file from the No Dam Halo No Dam Bubbles mod.
Is this still a suitable solution?
Edit: i have deleted the lightscfg file from the no dam halo mod, haven't tested it yet though.

sober has suggested i change lightscfg file:
Forget the no damn halo mod and change the Lights cfg in the real env mod .

I don't think you need yo do so. Try to enable ACSoft Climate Zones on top of it. Don't worry if JSGME will reposrt some conflicts. ;)

Yeah, it's actually the same file as in my post above. TDW incorporated the fix in MO patch 2 not without reason.:yep:

For those that use Real env revision by w_clear... he made some awsome env sounds that are not in the main mod

to use these sounds download from here:

w_clear-env-sounds-mod-for-SH5-download (http://www.gamefront.com/files/17447309/Environment_Sounds_rar)

If you use this mod after MO, FIX v15 by TDW or Stormyfly sound mod collection you must to delete first the sh.sdl file from the Environment Sounds\Data\Sound and after that you enable the mod

Short feedback. The fog part is ok. But there is no more halo around the sun and sometimes the weather change from clear sky to storm in just few seconds. Also, many times the sun and the atmosphere is too redish, like a scene from Mars. Using latest release.

I think he means, that the Fog-MOD is in Revision 2 included, because the Standalone-MOD was released before Revision 2 came out !

*SOLVED* I was still using climatesZones 5.0 That was the cause

BUT at daytime the light just makes me blind!!:doh:

When i look at darker areas (like water) then everything gets so bright and pale..washed out.

How can i change that?

After having a while away from sh5 and now returning, im a little confused...

I've just re-installed SH5 on a fresh Windows7 install, and before i used TDW MO mod as my base starting point. This mod contained the environmental mod (not sure which eddition) however it seems W_clear has returned and continued work on his mod,!!

Thus what is the latest (working) environmental mod number, can it be installed over the MO mod, and how does the "Dynamic weather mod effect it? and can this be installed over the Environmental mod?

There are two environmental mods:
Real Env and Dynamic Env.
Does two mods cooperates/complete/exlude each other.
Additionally there is FX_Update.
What is proper sequence of mods if they cooperates.

With the Dynamic Env. you can choose a few options/variations depending of your own taste

Welcome to the forums! FX Update should be installed early on in your mod soup.

Real and Dynamic Environmental mods are mutually exclusive. You'd use one or the other basically. Both are absolutely beautiful, it's all personal preference.

Hi! Can anyone help me out? I don't know if someone has already asked the same question before cuz the whole thread is too long. I really like this mod but what's bugging me out is the new time compression setting. In stock game if you spot a patrol in the world map, the time compression decreases to x8 if yours is greater and x1 if aircraft spotted. In this mod, the time compression is 4 times greater than the stock(i guess) for every situation and it's really anoying if your traveling a great distance and your time compression is at x1024 then suddenly your spotted by enemy aircrafts and by the time you realize it your dead since the TC only decreases to x8 which is still a big number for fast enemies like aircraft. So i just wanna know how i can edit it to my own taste that's it.

Guess I'm going for it again. I'm not 100% sure, but the most likely to suit your need is the same file SeaParameters.cfg. Under each type of sea, there is an entry ReflectionIntensity=...
Try changing it and compare the results.

The foamy wake is understandable, but a brighter water color like that seems odd to me. Does a boat churn up the water enough to change it's color like that IRL?

I think this color is coming from the parameter WaterFoamFilmColorMulti in EnvColors configuration files (Env folder). If you don't like the effect try to play with these parameters. In each cfg file there are many of them, for different weathers and hours, so make sure to edit all of them :03:

Thanks gap! I have a converter somewhere on my hd, but didn't want to even try it considering that the amount of work involved in getting all the right colors will kill me, so I'll worry about soup mess instead. :D

I checked that online converter. It's nice and simple, and I noticed there are all kinds of other useful tools on the left too, so I will bookmark it - thanks!:yeah:. And yes, that color was the green I mentioned. :cool:

With this environmental mod, and the
SIM FOR====TDW_Depth_Keeping_Problem_UHS_patch_HB_1_0_ 0
mod installed, I get excessive bobbing motion on the VII-A sub badly. The descent and rise time rate is way too fast. In fact, it is so fast that on just a surface command, it will bob back down to 10 meters depth after it has surfaced. If you come up from a ballast blow with speed set to 4 (emergency surface) the boat actually takes flight.

Should I have not installed TDW's patch?

OK I think I found a nice solution. I've installed a later version of a mod from TDW. It seems to work fine except that the boat seems to sit a little low in the water for normal floating. But that can be a slight advantage at the cost of 0.5 knots speed. Maybe the enemies can't see me as well now? Thanks.

I'm back.
Well, I'm a big fan of the Dynamic Environment for its overall realistic graphics.
The 'clear' water of the Real Environmental Mod of Water Clear I find too transparent, not as good as the Dynamic Environment, reminds a bit of the 'OH II' 'Shallow Water", which I don't like at all.

The fog mod, was testing it when i got your message above, and I must say it's impressive.
All the different types of fog are just wonderful so what to do... :hmm2:

I'll give it a shot and see if it possibly works if I activate Dynamic Environment first and the Fog Mod after.
Checked which files in the two mods are the same ones and I find it worth giving it a try.

This is probably pretty basic but is this supposed to look like this? I am guessing something has messed with the real environment 3 mod. I have only just started modding SH5 as you can probably guess, mod soup at bottom of post. When clouds block partially block the sun I stil get very bright rays coming past the clouds.

Water in a harbour in the 30's/40's I think could not have been that transparent. I simply don't believe it.
In that mod the water looks like what I've seen in the Caribbeans at some lovely, sunny beach. Not in a harbour with water polluted with oil and much, much more.
Or were those ships environment friendly? Don't think so. :nope:
The sub looks like it's flying/levitating. The shadow of the sub shouldn't be visible.

As far as I know, this factor is mainly controlled by game shaders.

A while ago TheDarkWraith introduced some changes to waterPS.fx, for addressing the issue of dat unit's keels not showing underwater. His work was released with Dynamic Environment v2.1, under the name of 'Dynamic Environment Shallow Waters'. One side effect of this submod of DynEnv was that it was making the seabottom (and rocks, seaweed, dived submarines, etc) visible through water, especially at shallow depths, hence the name chosen by stoianm.

At a later stage, Pintea suggested some changes to another shader, namely TerrainSurfacePS.fx, for partially obviating the above mentioned flaw. These modifications were released as 'Dynamic Environment Shallow Waters Patch'. The final result was a semi-transparent effect that is nice around mediterranean and tropical shores, but quite unrealistic when applied to harbour's waters.

Too bad, shaders are applied globally, and as far as I know there is no way to limit their effect to certain areas. Parameters that, sure enough, can be set separately for each zone defined in ClimatZones.tga, are the ones found in EnvColors_*.cfg files. They include UnderwaterUpAlpha and UnderwaterDownAlpha, setting uderwater water transparecy, and a bunch of parameter dealing with sea (underwater and surface) colors.

By making the appropriate changes to the zones around SH5 main harbours in the above mentioned ClimatZones.tga, one can make those areas to feature a darker, greenish (but not lesser transparent) sea surface. :yep:

Guys, what is wrong with the fog with this mod and with SH5 in general? Weather conditions are changing from time to time(wind, wind direction clouds...) but fog ,from some reason, persist for 6-7 days, even more, no matter where i go, no matter where i am in the world. One solution is to save and reload the game and then it is possible to change fog conditions from medium to none or heavy ... Any suggestions?

This is the bad-weather-bug. Search for "bad weather fix" in SH3 forum and and you get an idea what is going wrong with SH5 (it has somethng to do with save-games which are misinterpreted during the load-process). You avoid the broken weather if you avoid to load save-games ;)

Real Environment is an excellent "cosmetic" mod whose beauty doesn't need for advocating, and it is mostly included in Dynamic Environment.

The latter features though many improvements and features that are not present in RealEnv, and most notably it will greatly affect wind speeds and weather change intervals depending on your current date and location. The only downside is that perhaps it sacrifices slightly eye candy for realism. Often its skies are not as beautiful as the ones seen with RealEnv, and coastal waters around Germany, UK and Norwey can be greish instead of deep blue. :yep:

Does anyone have illusion of SKIPPING FRAME with this MOD.
I have and it annoys me.
I have only this MOD installed.
The rest I had to remove one by one to track down the culprit.
I have ATI Radeon HD 5770.
Any clues or medicine for that please ?
