for some reason my nights have all of a sudden become like this....

im using the lighter nights version 2.2 patched.

Nah, if that's how you intended it, it's all good. :D Would using the default FogDistances.cfg affect anything other than fog? If so, I can just swap that out, no problem. :)

When I was having problems getting a visual on targets with light fog =. I removed the FogDistances.cfg and didn't encounter any other issue's.

Yeah, it alright to delete the fogdistances.cfg from the mod, that is what I did to fix the fog problem.

I still think that halo sun is unrealistic in the version 1.2.The reality of the outline of the sun should be clear-cut. Reality sun should be more bright halo.
I do not like the sun in patch 1.2。But I can not find a better way to adjust it。

If you are experiencing CTD with this mod, whether you have astradeus' mod or not, this should fix it. I have redone all colors(both land colors, and sea colors) to referenced ones. If you still get CTD using this ClimateZones fix, it is a 98% chance that it is being caused by something else.
To be clear, this is simply the original ClimateZones.tga that came with the mod with all unreferenced colors taken out to stop the CTDs.

No it is the darker night version, sorry. In my opinion the standard darker night version is more accurate anyway though.
hmmm, it crashes to desktop.
I think at the moment when spotted an enemy ship or u-boat. Without the mod, no problems.
Tested whie in harbour.

No guys, there is literally no way that the ClimateZones.tga could be causing CTDs if you have the newest version. I completely redid it. There are no unreferenced colors in it. I have tested it and several others have told me that the newest version solved their problems.
But yes astradeus' mod will still work with this. However, CTDs have already been reported when using his mod.
Either way, you are more than welcome W_clear.
I'm also getting CTD with 2.5. Obviously something is wrong. Hope you manage to sort it out because i really want to use this mod :)

I just checked it again, and there are no problems with the .tga file in that area. It is weird that it only happens in TC. You see, when you hit an error in the .tga it will CTD even at no TC. Ok, I guess I will start poking around with the .cfg files and see if I can find anything that might single out those areas for problems.

I'm getting it in different situations. Last time it crashed was right after saving in open seas of Englands coast. Before that it crashed when i was interacting with a crewmember.
I played for 2 hours straight the last round with no crashes so i have no idea what can be causing it. It might be TC since i use that quite often, and the last 2 hour session i didn't use TC due to an attack on a large convoy. I never use TC in combat. But i never experienced a crash when in TC mode just in betweens.
This mod makes SH5 look incredible so i hope you manage to nail the bug :)

Thanks for the info Ragtag. This is going way out on a limb, but could you do a favor for me? Could you run everything the way you have it including the Env mod, but without Free Cam Tweak 1.1 - Regular. I am wondering if it is some unseen conflict between Env and certain cameras.cam setups. Like I said this is unlikely, but we can use all the help we can get in narrowing this down. Also, does TDW's UI modify the cameras.cam file (I use reaper7's so I can't just look without downloading it).

I have just returned from patrol using W_clear 2.4-and abssal depths mod.I had no problems.Isaw the new version of 2.5 so I took out 2.4 and abssal depths mods and installed 2.5 then steel viking new interior mod. ctd while crossing the north sea. so now I will try 2.5 then abssal depth then s.v's new mod I will let you know how that goes when i head out tomorrow.there is something funky going on here but i will get something to work. just thought you would want to know. these mods look great thanks for all yours and w_clears work

This looks even better than before - this is superb!
BUT
After we install it are we going to have problems with the different envirnment zones - ie CTD whenever we go near land or change from one zone to another

Edit your Submarine SIM or FX file to remove that effect.

Probably this is a matter of personal preferences , but I preffer to keep the halo around the sun :sunny: and keep the halo around the light sources inside the submarine ,everything looks less realistic without the halo , but this is just my opinion

You can try do it to test. I have not found a way let foam to more white of the 5 m wind speed .Maybe it can help。:DL

I'm not talking about the caustics on the hull, I'm talking about removing the wavy effect on the camera when underwater. It's not realistic and it's kinda been bothering me since I got SH5.

Actually, he is not talking about environmental halos, he is talking about the halos that are placed around interactive objects.
@TheBeast,
If you remove the halos manually it would not make any difference to this mod, however, if you use another mod to do it, it would because it would overwrite the lights.cfg of this mod.

No it is not, sorry. However, since version 1.0 of my interior was synced up with an older version of Env, it will not have a big impact on the environment(so you could still use them together really). I have setup v1.1 to be fully compatible with Env 3.0 but I am still waiting on BIGREG to release.

I don't see how either but I was just trying different things,but I did take it out and ran enviro3.0-sv's intieror -svand reapers sky mod -inproved shadows and it ran perfect and it's still going. I also kept critical hits mod in also.It might have been the order they were enabled.I'm just happy it looks good and works.

I do not know where to ask this but here seemed a very good spot since it is kind of related to Environment.
I noticed the Conning Tower Wake is very small. Much smaller then it should be. In the picture below I just plowed through a wave higher then my Conning Tower and barely made a splash. That splash should have been huge and dwarfed the Tower.
Is there any way to adjust this?:06:

I was going to add that this wave splash looked as if it were from the cannon. I didn't want to sound like I was Ubi bashing but now that you pointed that out, even the cannon splash is way to small. Going to add this to the Ubi Dev's Bug list.

Hey TDW, I don't want to sound needy, but could you possibly hex edit the conning wave into the ones which are missing it? If it is controlled by an .fx file it seems like it should be possible, or am I totally mistaken on this one?

It's nothing more then a controller link from an object or node as defined in the FX.GR2 or base.GR2 file to an effect.
It mostly points to the BAZA_FX.dat in the Library.

ah, so it's a way to link .GR2 nodes to classical SH3/4 style nodes. Interesting......I see some possibilities with this.

Yes.
So instead of placeing a particle generator in the sim or val?
Place a simple dummy node.
Use the ObjectCtrlsRef to link it to another effect or whatever.
So for Cons that have no wave effects?
Place a few nodes, connect them to the pre-built Con wave effects
found in the BAZA_FX.dat with ObjectCtrlsRef and your done.
So infact, take your smoke mod as an example.
Place a node where you want the smoke to emit.
Build one dat with the smoke effect.
Do the ObjectCtrlsRef in the sim or where ever you want.

With this mod I get ghost crew at dawn like the ghost crew in SH4 and not only the crew is semi-transparent, the whole sub and surface ships also.
Speaking of unrealistic exaggerated colors of the water at all, seems as if the modder would have never seen the North Atlantic in nature.:down:

Actually, I don't think it changes too fast, I think the weather changes are pretty close to realistic. Out on the open ocean, storms come and go pretty quickly. Also, people were tired of being caught in a storm at the beginning of a patrol, and that same storm lasting the whole patrol. Your mod fixes that problem.:up:

Some times if FileFront.com servers are busy they give file not found error message when the problem really is that the servers are just busy and unable to process your request.
If you wait a few minutes and try again you may eventually get the file. This may take several tries depending on time of day and the amount of requests hitting the servers.
All day I was receiving the "Your Download Will Start In A Moment" and then it just redirects to the "New And Improved" Filefront 2.0 service. :hmmm: Never did like filefront. Keep the faith fella's, it's service will return. :03:

Hi to you again - now something a little more on topic - I now use Captain von Keldunk Enviro Gold instead of Mr Clear's Enviro3 on the Advise of Mr Sober

Now to date I have not had a CTD
BUT!
I now while I think Enviro Gold is great, especially good re atmospherics, sky, sun and moon, light overall, clouds and underwater green and visibility
However I believe Mr Clear's Enviro mod has more realistic Ocean colours and weather affected changes - I really wish the best of both these mods could be merged into one all encompassing Enviro mod
Interestingly Mr Arclight recently released Damage Assessment 1.1 he mentions he tweaked his mod to 1.1 because 1.0 might cause some CTD's
So since moving to Keldunk Enviro Gold and Mr Arclight's DA1.1 I have not had a single CTD
So there's something to consider

i have made my own with w_clear's colors and abyssal depths Climatezone.
its the same Environment as with w_clear's mod but without ctd.
the only thing is,you need Ailclouds for better clouds,and i have no submarine folder in it, i use U-boat Historical Specifications 1.4.

I documented how to make the Antenna's raise using information BIGREG sent me. If you know how to use GoblinEditorApp located in your SH5 install folder, it is actually easy to do it for your self.
I didn't make a MOD for it for a couple reasons
It's not my MOD to post.
It's a simple MOD that should be merged with other MOD's that touch the Uboot_Sensors.sim like Periscope Heights MOD by BIGREG.
I am currently working on a Upgrade Packs MOD that fixes some errors(bugs) and adds some missing Upgrades. It will also include the raised Antenna when I am finished.

Howdy, I love this mod but I am experiencing a CTD every time I use it. Its always about 300-500km out of port. I narrowed it down to Env Mod 3.1. I thought it was another mod I had installed but when I ran SH5 with Env Mod 3.1 only installed it did the same thing.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

the prob is not only the *.tga,i have ctd's with the stock *.tga and w_clear's *.cfg's too but not at the same points with his *.tga.

Usually just as I enter the English Channel between France and England, also as I enter the North Sea from Kiel between Norway and Denmark (i think) and Last place I experience it is as soon as I get about 300-500km out of the second port you get assigned to after Kiel traveling a NW-N course (sorry I forget the name and im on my laptop currently) I will get the full details for ya later tonight

Thanks for the info Zack, those areas are the ones that I would expect CTDs to still be occurring. I am pretty sure that I know what the problem is, I just need to have some more testing done to be 100% positive. I don't want to do all the work for a fix until I know it will actually fix it. If anyone would like to the help, the thread about mod installation order has a fix for the seas around Denmark that I made. You could install that and see if you get CTD while traveling away from Kiel. Some have already reported that it fixed it.

Usually just as I enter the English Channel between France and England, also as I enter the North Sea from Kiel between Norway and Denmark (i think) and Last place I experience it is as soon as I get about 300-500km out of the second port you get assigned to after Kiel traveling a NW-N course (sorry I forget the name and im on my laptop currently) I will get the full details for ya later tonight

If that fix continues to prove successful as it has so far, I would be more than willing to fix the entire map. I just need to know for sure first, because it will take a good amount of work to do it.

I had the fix installed with latest try but the same thing happen in the same areas everyone else seems to be having ctds.time compression does not seem a factor.

The fix I posted on the mod order thread? And were you in the immediate vicinity of Denmark when the CTD occurred? That fix is only designed to stop the CTDs around Denmark, nothing else.

I have never had this happen to me around Heligoland. The only areas up to now are near Amsterdam (which was fixed in version 2.5 or something around there) and Denmark (which was fixed with the patch SV gave).

Can anyone else confirm that CTD still exists around Denmark with the fix I posted? I am not implying that you are wrong Stoppro. I just want to see how wide spread this problem really is.

Awesome!:yeah: I had not realized that you tested it that extensively. Ok, I think that sums it up. Going from frequent CTDs to none out of 15 is enough evidence for me. I will begin working on a fix for the whole map. It will take a little while though(probably a day or two) for me to do it. What the .tga needs is very tedious work(I am talking pixel by pixel out of 1080X540 pixels).
What I think is the problem, is even after I redid W_clear's climatezones.tga several months ago to fix the wide spread CTDs, I did not think anything about two climate zones touching each other that were not sequential. In other words, right now, it is possible to go from one climate zone, to another which is actually 2 steps away(for example from arctic to tropical in one jump). The reason I left it like that, is because it did not cause me to CTD(which it still doesn't, and never has nor does it cause W_clear to CTD). But, it would make sense that some folks' computers(hardware setups) may have a problem with this happening.

You are welcome. I wish I could help you with the dark horizon problem, but you would have to talk directly to W_clear about that one. I would think that it is a shader problem. But, have you tried my mod for fixing sky banding? It replaces the base texture that gets rendered over the sky geometry. That may just fix your horizon problem.

The 'Black Masses' sometimes seen is a known issue from SH3.
(Maybe SH4 also?)
SH5 may be a new version of the SH series.
But there's alot of info on the past versions that still apply.
I highly suggest you look at the past for many issues.
Re-inventing the wheel takes to long.

The CTD's I was experiencing are with Env Mod 3.1 only installed thru JSGME. The more exact locations for the CTD I couldn't tell earlier is just out of Bremen traveling a NW course.

Good to hear! Now that I have the patch for my interior mod finished, I will switch over to working on the fix for the whole map for Env3.1. When I am finished with that, I have got to make another attempt at improving the in game shadows while still using less system resources(it is really bugging me how many folks get FPS drop).

It's because of your longitudinal distance from home. Your clock stays at home port time so as you travel further away it gets out of synch. It was a pretty common/realistic issue to deal with in SH4 when your sub was set to Pearl Harbor time and yet you were patrolling past the dateline and a couple time zones over in Japan.

Now there's something I never thought of! In SH4 I always just learned to cope with the difference... Maybe if TDW has some spare time he could put together a script for it, perhaps even with a label for what zone you're in...

In fact, your previous ClimateZones.tga was perfect, not more than 1024 times the compression of time, it will not return the desktop。

I never got CTD with the last one I did either. But, since some folks were still getting CTD when at high compression, I took another look at it. The thing that was causing it was that in a few places I had left two climate zones that were not sequential touching. In other words in some places, I had left arctic touching sub tropical and similar situations.
I think with this ClimateZones.tga that no one will get CTDs anywhere at any time compression(even when greater than 1024). Several folks have tested it, and the fix works, but I would not mind even more people trying it just to make absolutely sure. W_clear, you are more than welcome to include this new ClimateZones.tga in any future versions.
I would also like to apologize to everyone for not simply fixing this the first time. I simply had no way to know that it would cause problems since it does not give me CTD(and I routinely run at 2048 TC).

Thank you Wolfling04, I will check the area out, and clean it up even further. I am also thinking that if you go through too many climate zone changes to quickly that you may CTD at high compression. So the coastal zones may have to get a bit more work.

Just be thankful you're not an axolotl, they live in caves and never see the sun - there are many other animals and insects who live like this, I have not heard of any plants that live in caves because they need to photosynthesise - Recently a species of algae was discovered living around volcanic vents at the bottom of some of the deepest mid ocean trenches on the planet
I would hasten to add though that relativly few Axolotl's play Silent Hunter 5 and there is no known instances of algae playing computer games

i mounted the mod, made a new career and everithing worked fine, i return to base after i finished my patrol an then i talk to the officer ta get a mission, after that i click on start a new patrol. at that time it crashes to the desktop.
this happens with or without the fix mounted.

That does not sound like it is coming from this mod. Please uninstall just the CTD fix and Env3.1 and try again. If it works, please tell me what port you were in when the CTDs were occurring and I will take a look at it.

I keep getting CTD's with 3.1patch over 3.0 even when i download the 3.1 complete package you posted i CTD.
When i disable your mod the CTD's are gone :( Man i love the mod but the game is simply not playeble with it....
Since i had to reinstall the game i started a new game so my experience with the CTD's are all around the coast of england. I tried the new climatezone.tga file and not setting TC higher then 1024 but still it CTD's.

At this mission when I used stock environment (3 tests), my sub was attacked by 50 enemy aircrafts (my submarine was sunk with TDW's IRAI mod). I install Env 3.0 mod, and at this mission I saw only one aircraft attacked Italian taskforce... the weather looks better with Env 3.0 mod...

Just found out that the CTD issues that I'm having are also related to this mod as I couldn't load one save without a CTD and loading a previous one and getting to the same area (British Coastal Waters Mission) it would CTD. SO I disabled this mod and was able to load the previous save that would CTD and then when going to the area where it would CTD after an earlier save gave no issues. So I feel it was definitely related to this mod. I was just cruising along on the Nav mapp using 1024 TC and CTD every time in the same area- off the eastern shores of Britain. Hope the info helps as it's a nice looking mod. One other thing I noticed, and I'm assuming it's related to this mod (haven't been back to port yet so I can't see if it's gone now that I've disabled the mod) is I will see a bunch of brown smoke/fog all over the right side of the port area when I have a ship or two in front of me with smoke. I'll also occasionally see some brown smoke dots randomly appear as I pan around. It may also be due to graphics settings but I thought I'd mentioned it in case it isn't.

No problem. In the mean time, I have already put out a partial CTD fix for this mod, I think it is one or two pages back. It should take care of about 50% of the the CTD occurrences.

Two for the Nitpicking.. there is some weird action going on on my horizon.. it looks almost like I am close to land.. it goes like Water, then odd darker coloured Sky, and then regular Sky.. what is this :hmmm:
Nice with an update but this one is worse again when it comes to CTD. It crashes as soon as i get close to the english coast. I used SV's climatezone with ENV 3.1 and it didn't crash half as much as it does now.

It didnīt crash at all with SV fix and 3.1 so far. Now Iīm worried.Iīm getting black flickering though after entering my game. It stops after a short while but it always comes on after loading my file (usually when looking at scenes very different in their lighting effects). I get ctd after being in port and loading to get on a new cruise sometimes / and very seldom in action situations trying to reload after a fail attempt to attack a vessel. Sorry for maybe off-topic, I am just not sure where these instabilities come from. Theres no game w/o env.mod though!:yeah:

Installed 3.2 froze one hour out of lorient on 1tc reloaded tried again same thing. removed 3.2 I'm running going on 3hours now some things up with this mod .hope there is someway to fix it . I miss it when it's not there.

any fix to CTD - it`s unplayable in current state...

First off, great mod, it makes the game look so much better ;)
Second, I'm experiencing a lot of CTD after I installed the mod, although I did just install the fix, but I haven't tried it yet. I'll let you know if it fixed it.
Also, is there is a way to make the nights less dark, because it's very beautiful at night, and it adds atmophere, but it's really too dark to see anything (I can barely make out my own sub). I can crank up the gamma in my settings, but that just makes everything brighter (including the menus etc)

I need to know what geographical location you are experiencing the CTDs in. I have been compiling a list of areas which need more work to stop the CTDs.

I've only been around Britland :D, so (based on the .jpg from the mod) envcolors tempera?
I sometimes see ice on the boats though, is that normal (cool touch by the way ;D).
Crashes seem to occur when I'm exiting TC, (like when I'm going at 2k compression, and then I close the map) it might crash.
Another time it might crash (rather call it a freeze) is when I try to load a game, then I have to ctrl+alt+del and close the game.
Sometimes I just randomly crashes.
I hope some of this is helpful to you, because the mod is gorgeous, and I'd hate to have to remove it. Is there maybe a previous, stable version I could use?

Sadly, no there is not a stable version to be had. Your information sinks up with other bits and pieces I have gotten before that the coast of Britain is a problem area. I am thinking of taking out the coastal change zones entirely which should eliminate the last of the CTDs people are getting.

Just to add that I have just had a crash too. I was about 1 day (of game time) out of Bremen in the Happy Times campaign. I disengaged TC (backspace) and the 'Silent Hunter has stopped working' box appeared. Don't know if that is of any diagnostic help, but thought I'd mention it.
Oh and this is the first time I've used 3.2 as I was finishing up a previous patrol on 3.1 before upgrading in port.
