I'd probably only use silver in the SHTF ammo, not the practice ammo. :03:

On a different note, I wonder what everyone thinks of this indoor/outdoor heater & cook stove? Might be living in a van during some nasty weather while following those blades around. https://www.mypatriotsupply.com/prod...t-cooking-fuel

Trump and his Trumpette lemmings are making a lot of noise about his felony convictions; reminds me of the phrase "Sound and fury signifying nothing" (Thanks, Bill); why nothing?; because, as with the 'stolen election/election fraud' claims, its just noise without any real substance; Trump and his attorneys (who I am sure, given the "reputable" nature of DJT's business history, will be demanding payment upfront) will have their day in court(s), again, to make their appeals to try and keep Trump from being tagged as the felon he really is; a main point to consider is an appeal may be made based on trial procedures, etc, but an appeal cannot re-argue evidence; once a trial is held and a jury has rendered a verdict, the evidence presented is accepted as factual and cannot be contested unless there is some extraordinary occurrence (e.g., in a murder trial, new evidence that is fully exculpatory of the convicted criminal comes to light); but Trump's situation really leaves him with only the possibility of finding some technicality to void the verdict; still, it would not be an acquittal at all and would only mean that the DA could refile for a new trail; so, for Trump, he is guilty of the his crimes and was found so by a jury chosen with his participation and, if there was any exculpatory evidence to be presented, he either chose not to present that evidence or he actually really didn't have a defense for his actions under the law (saying, ad nauseam, "I'm not guilty!!" or "Rigged trial" is not an actual legal defense, its just a loudmouth ranting); he had his chance and he, as the loser he is, blew it...

Now, he probably will try to push his loony bin ideas of how he was 'mistreated' but I doubt if any of them will hold any legal water; as far as the Trumpette lemmings and their ranting, I have one main question:

Can you give any specific, verifiable, and legally justifiable proof or substantiation that the trial was rigged, or the Judge was corrupt or unethical, or the jury was in any way tampered with, or the Biden Administration had any direct or tangential influence or exerted direction in the conduct of the prosecution and/or trial; I want actual provable facts, not op-eds or talking-head, tin-hat rantings from the InterWebs, I want something that has real weight and effect that would have a good chance of standing up in court...

Let's eee if there are any real takers...

I got a bit of a laugh from the claim in a previous posting citing as proof of bias/corruption/etc., the statement by NY DA Bragg that he had sued Trump "hundreds of times"; this is the sort of specious "proof" I'm talking about; yes, Bragg, in his function as DA has sued Trump "hundreds of times", or more precisely, the NY DA's office has sued Trump hundreds of times; So, Bragg actually has sued Trump as he claims, but so have his many predecessors and likely those DAs who will follow; there is no specific bias at play here: Trump is just a sleazy businessman for whom being sued is SOP; Trump, and his businesses in NY, have a very long and colorful history in the NY state courts since Trump has had an astonishing number of complaints and lawsuits filed against him over the decades and has had rather mixed results; although Trump projects the image that his is a "winner" and never settles when it comes to court cases against him, he actually has settled out of court far more often than he has won in court and he has a long, long history of trying to avoid jury trials at any cost (gee, I wonder why?) he has even lost some of the cases brought against him, with the this case, in particular, being interesting...

Paint Shop Owner Juan Carlos Enriquez Took On Trump — and Won -

Gotta admire it when a little guy wins over a fat cat...

So, by being stubborn and fighting to avoid paying a USD $32,000 legitimate billing, Trump ended up paying some USD $300,000, instead, yep that Trump is a real astute businessman, someone who should be running a government...

...and, there's this little gem...

$300,000 Arbitration Win, Defeating Trump CampaignÂ’s Efforts to Enforce Arbitration -

https://www.tzlegal.com/our-successe...r-over-300000/

Seems like Donnie just isn't the "winner" he wants us to believe he is...

BTW, although I have many, many very good reasons not to vote for Trump, there is one very big and glaring reason I could never vote for someone like him: Trump had a charity foundation setup and raised funds for a particular charity; there was little notice of the disposition of the funds until a journalist, before the 2016 Presidential Election, got the idea of doing a sort of human interest, 'feel good' piece on those who were to have benefited from the Trump Foundation fundraising; the big problem was, as the journalist contacted the purported recipients, none of them had seen a single cent from the Foundation; further investigation showed none of the funds had been distributed by Trump; in fact, Trump had used the Foundation's funds as a sort of 'petty cash' account, using the fund to pay for personal items like sports memorabilia and a "Yuuge" six-foot portrait painting of himself for his own personal use, among other tchotchkes; the NY State Attorney General's Office filed a lawsuit against the Trump Foundation and forced Trump to own up to his transgressions and doubled the amount he would have had to pay as donated funds to charity, so, again, Trump, by his own stubborn willingness to stand by his criminality, had to fork over far more than he would have had tom pay if he had just acted honestly...

So, I find it extremely repulsive to vote for a man who would, with free will and malice aforethought, steal from a charity; and I find it even even more of a repugnant idea to vote for him with the knowledge that the charity he so cavalierly disrespected and stole from was a veteran's charity; there are low people and there are low people; Trump, much as the worm he is, is absolutely subterranean...

Nomination basis: Us poor Aussies haven't got any B.O.S awards ( I think ) . we're long overdue, we're always here posting away. And in that spirit I'd like to nominate Reece, not for any particular post, but because he's a prolific poster, no nasty or controversial stuff, and he's well liked by those that know him. And because he's a fellow Aussie, and well and truly deserves an "outstanding member Best of Subsim" Award.

Being here in LA, in particular in Hollywood, I thought I'd share what I've observed and heard over the past few days; the winds were fully expected a number of days before the fires, with forecasters showing maps of the expected wind paths and strengths; in the area of Pacific Palisades, gust of up to 100 MPH were forecasted and, indeed, gust of 98 MPH were recorded on the fire day; Pacific Palisades is (or was) a seaside community tucked away in valleys in the coastal mountainside; there is really only one wide road into the enclave and no "backdoor" to use for escape; in addition, developers laid out the housing in a sort of meandering manner resulting in a large number of culs de sac and narrow streets and roads; when the fire in the Palisades started in the brush surrounding, the winds just tore through the flames, spreading them like flamethrowers over the entire area, bathing houses and businesses with sparks, embers and flame; it was really very fast and the residents didn't have much time to prepare for such an onslaught; the streets were clogged with cars and trucks trying to get out to the main road out of the area; first responders were stymied by the clogged roads and, eventually, ordered the drivers and passengers to grab what they could carry and abandon their vehicles; the firefighters had to resort to using bulldozers to shove a path through the vehicles in order to get their vehicles through to fight the fires; the smoke from the Palisades fire was visible from all the way to past Downtown LA, a distance of some 20 miles...

The Palisades fire has leveled the entirety of Pacific Palisades, for all intent and purposes, with precious few structures surviving; the devastation is near total; embers and flames even jumped over the coastal highway and consumed beachside homes and businesses that had been there for decades ...

There have been a few other fires breaking out in the past couple of days in the area; night before last, a fire broke out in the Hollywood Hills in an area known as Runyon Canyon, about a mile and a half from where I live; in ripped through the Canyon and did a lot of damage before the firefighters could get handle on it; it was something to walk out my buildings door and see the sky full of smoke and the red glow just a short distance away...

Another really major fire broke out in an area known as Altadena and has been called the Eaton Fire (fires are generally named after landmarks or major street and roads in the fire area); this fire really exploded in the high winds and is still raging; like Pacific Palisades, the fire has leveled whole sections of residential neighborhoods and, at one point, was threatening critical telecommunications facilities (TV, Radio, cell, etc.) on Mount Wilson, located above the fire area; the Mount Wilson Observatory was also in danger for a long while, but firefighters were able to make a stand and save Mount Wilson; the Eaton fire is particularly bad because Altadena sits in a sort of geographic ,bowl' in the foothills of the mountains; when the wind storms hit, the winds passing through the valleys and passes surrounding Altadena formed a swirling vortex over and around the city, swirling flames and embers in all directions; the situation was exactly what one would describe as an out of control firestorm...

The wind have been settling down in the last 24 hours and there is an awful lot of manpower and equipment on the scenes; fire crews from all over the state, and out of state, are here trying to help the local fire first responders; as is often the case with situations like this, there are those who are stupid or evil enough to just add to the woes of the authorities; a water dropping plane was grounded after some ass decided it was a good idea to enhance his social media by flying a drone into an active fire fighting area and their drone collided with and punched a hole into the plane; the plane had been sent down from Canada to assist in fighting the fires; I hope they catch the ass and throw the book (and bookcases) at him...

Another problem that popped up, particularly in the Eaton fire; looters were spotted and arrested by Sheriffs' Deputies and a request was put out to activate the CA National Guard to provide troops to secure fire areas and interdict any lotters or other criminals; the Guard is now on duty and the local governments have issued curfews for the fire areas from 6PM to 6AM daily to make it more difficult for criminals to roam about and to make it easier for first responders to move from scene to scene as they fight the fires...

I've got to say one thing about the response thus far; I was skeptical of the various local governments (city, county, state, and Federal) and the various Fire and Law Enforcement entities to function smoothly without turf fights or pettiness, but the lot of them have been coordinating with surprising smoothness and efficiency and have been responding quickly to changing conditions; kudos to them all...

Previous wildfires in this area have mainly been in remote rural areas, not rather more urban areas such as the most recent fires; it is really a shock to see neighborhoods similar to those in which one lives being leveled and in such proximity to here...

ASDIC won’t pick this up (that is active sonar), but the escort’s hydrophones would. Both the rudder and hydroplane motors themselves as well as the braking relays.

Creep mode within the context of the switch on the switchboard currently works as it did in real life, it prevents the clacking of the starting relay within the switchboard itself while the e-motor is in the lowest speed configuration. It does this by keeping the holding coil energized that actuated the relay that shorted the starting resistor and thus kept the resistor shorted while creep was on. Normally, the starting resistor was only in the circuit for about two seconds when switching, by a timed relay, then shorted after this time as the motor had then built up sufficient CEMF to mitigate armature current. On starting or switching, armature current can climb tremendously high because of the momentary lack of CEMF and so resistance is needed for a short time.

But, because of the low armature current in the lowest speed configuration, that is, a 55 V drop in series across both armatures and 110 V from the batteries in parallel, the starting resistor could be ignored, and this was taken advantage of with the creep setting so the relay didn’t make noise.

The next logical step for the developers would be to make this relay clacking audible to escorts. So I don’t think anything needs to change with regard to that switch, it would just be an AI thing.

Now, regarding the rudder and hydroplane relays, the only way to make that stop, or the motor sound stop, is of course to switch to manual, and so that would also be an AI change. Nothing needs to change with the creep mode switch though. That works as it should, and is unrelated to the rudder and hydroplane motors.
