In the SH4 game, Data / Cfg / sim.cfg file does it, under the hydrophone and sonar headings. The 1.0 setting means "None", while a 3 setting cuts the sensors to 1/3 (roughly) of their ability - for the ASW that is, not the player... the player does not lose the ability to accurately hear the surface ships.

Ahhh... sorry 'bout that. You're looking for the "random" factor. I am not aware of that being touchable, much less where it would be found, whether the SHSim.act, EnvSim.act, or what...
