So is Silent Hunter 5 playable now?

Hi,
I'm a long time fan of silent hunter and have played silent hunter 3 since I was about 16 (i'm now nearly 23). It's always a game I revisit every year or so because there's no other game quite like it.

And then there's silent hunter 5. I bought the game around when it came out, and I found it unplayable because of the severity of the bugs/glitches and gave up on it. I think we can agree it was taken out of the oven before it was ready. Ubisoft didn't really put much effort into fixing it and only released a few patches if I remember right. But I think the game is graphically amazing, and the idea of walking around your ship is really immersive.

So, to the actual question. Is there enough mods or unofficial updates that exist that make silent hunter 5 playable and a game that could be as good as SH3? I also played SH4 a long time ago and can hardly remember it (non-uboat sub sim didn't interest me at the time) what's the state of that game?

Silent hunter 5 is full playable with TDW's generic patcher if u wanna full realism play, then u can take sober mod list from here
or WDR1981 mega mod WOS from here

Silent Hunter 5 can now be highly recommended and with the continuing active work of Vecko's on his TWOS mega mod and MaMa's new fix the future for this game now looks even brighter.

o.O I thought they were point to basically the same files. Could you tell what are the biggest difference between them in term of final result?

the difference between does 2 are more or less mod, some different mods, sober mod list u need download all mods from sober list and from vdr1981 mega mod is a huge mod compilation all in one u need to download only the mega mod, the patch, resolution patch .... the play style is up to u with both of them with or without real navigation

The best way to look at TWOS and sobers mega mod is go to both of the post #1's and look at what they do.

TWOS is a large mega mod and comes complete in 2 downloads and is very easy to install.
Now also comes with a YouTube tutorial as well from Shaefer.

sobers mega mod requires a bit more work as it a large number of individual mods put together but has full instructions of what you need to do starting at Post #1

The other major SH5 mega mod is Wolves Of Deep which uses a different UI to both TWOS and sobers.
