Default Some questions

Hello all !
I have a few questions about SH5 ,and maybe some of you will answer and help me fiind the right path.
Ok ,where shall I begin ? I installed a fresh version of the game (not Steam version) ,updated to 1.2 , installed Sobers mega mod and TDW patcher . All good until here !
Questions :
1. When I open the OptionsFileEditorViewer , I can not enable the snorkel because I don t have the submarine options as I see in the image of Sober . But this is not so important for me, because I can play without it .

2. I have watched many times the tutorials that I have found on the forum about how to play with real navigation and realism 100 %, but I still cannot sink any ship . I can navigate with real navigation ,but it is one week that I am playing every day and I have started many times a new mission (the first one) ,but every time is the same . I can detect the polish task force and complete the main objective but when I am looking to sink down a ship , all the ships that I fiind are at long distance and I always find an escort that is coming straight towards me and I have no chance against it . I don t know how can the escort detect me , because many times I was stoped at periscope depth . How it is posible to detect me from 5000 m or more ?
The question is what can I do when an escort is coming straight in my direction ? And why all the torpedoes that I shot in front of the escort are duds? I have shot lots of times but all are duds .
Can someone explain to me if there is a method that I can follow to get closer from the enemy ? In all the tutorials the ships are at medium range and closing ,but in my reality a ship is closing to me only with angle on bow 0 and I am allready detected .
I have watched as I said stoianm s tutorials and he explain verry well ,but his ships in the tutorials are folowing the course and not hunting him . I also watched and liked a lot shaefer tutorials ,but in this tutorials he detects a freighter and not escorts .
I suspect that maybe the complete Sober mod list is not for someone who just discover the game, but I have read a lot on the forum and I have seen that this mod list is the most complete one and I thought that is better to learn from the beginning the right way .
What do you old players advice me to do?

Another question is how do I change the color to the lines that I draw with tools map ? All my drawings are grey and I see that many players have nice colors .

I do not understand what you mean in your question 1.

Are you saying that in the ‘Submarine Tab’ you cannot see the ‘Submarine Types’ to enable the ‘Snorkels?’

Your question 2. Go down to ‘Danzig Harbour’ where you will find stationery merchants that you can get a 90 degree angle on.

You will find merchants in both harbours.

Your question 3. Get the F—K out of there.

You should not willingly take on escorts especially if you lack the experience.

Have you enabled the torpedo patches in ‘TDW’s Generic Patcher?’

Are you using these mods?

FX_Update_0_0_22_ByTheDarkWraith

FX_Update_0_0_22_Torpedoes (modified for torpedoes failure patches)

Folder 1 and folder 3 are inside a Folder called Mods.

Select the Base Folder and only 1 Patch Folder

How to Change Map Colours.

Click on the box next to the ‘Map Colors.'

Double click on ‘Change 1.’

Double click on ‘Is True.’

Select your ‘Colour.’

Press ‘Ok.’

Double click on ‘Enabled.’

Accept the ‘Prompt.’

It is quite normal the next time you go back to the Patcher to see the ‘Map Color’ is ‘Red’

This does not affect your already saved selection.

Thank you verry much for your answers ! It is good to have someone who can help in specialy when you are a noob and overwelmed by all this informations!
In question nr 1 I mean that I do not have the submarine tab at all . But I think I fiind the answer in Sober s post ( I am not sure thought) : Snorkels are not enabled . You will have to enable them yourself but i only enable them around the time they were available IRL.

I will now search boats in the harbor that you said ,but I would really like to fiind merchants that are moving because when I play historical missions ,I can sink ships that are moving with manual TDC.
Another question that I have , what do I have to change so I can have also the auto TDC ( you know, just in case ) and the manual .

I have enabled the torpedoes patches and I am using the FX UPDATE mods . As I have written I have the complete list of the Sober mods , I have followed step by step ( I think) what I found here :http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=192374
Thanks again for the answer !

The ‘Submarine Tab’ is on the left of the ’Patches Tab’ in other words it is the ‘1st Tab’ in the Viewer.

There is just ‘Snorkel’ showing when you click the Tab.

Clicking the little square box opens up the 4 U-Boat types.

Snorkels can be enabled un-historically.

Did you install the OFEV from TDW’s NewUI?

Go to your ‘Mods Folder’

Right click your mouse on ‘TDW’s NewUI’ mod (This is the main folder)

What is the name of the folder that you can see?

Manual/Auto Targeting

‘Main Menu’

‘Options’

‘Game Play Options’

If you leave the ‘Manual Targeting.’ Box unticked then you will get the option from the XO whether to turn on the ‘TDC (Manual Targeting)

If you do not turn it on then you will have ‘Auto TDC’ just by locking on to the ‘Target using the ‘Space Bar.’

I have some ‘Auto TDC’ notes if you would like to see them. Its a long time since I last used them. (Not good enough to put on my Tutorial)

You could send me your ‘Mod Soup’ if you like and I will check it over for you.

(The instructions are in my Tutorial Post)

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=2033119#post2033119

I do not use ‘Sobers Mega Mod’ but I do use a lot of his mods. Have a look at ‘Post #35’ in my ‘Tutorial thread.’

The ‘Manual is here:
