Default Landlubber wishes to sail with you

Hey there!

Indeed a rookie is about to set sail with Silent Hunter 5.

I gave it a brief spin back in 2010, though it was a pirated copy and uPlay didn't help the case, so I gave up on it within few days.

Now I've heard rumors Ubisoft may be scrapping their DRM-crap (excuse my frustration, but I reckon this is the step towards brighter future for this company, they can still redeem their public image if they work hard) which kind of reminded me of SH5.

So here I am!

Just copped my copy of Silent Hunter 5 off Steam for 14,99€ and currently in process of doing some heavy modding, with assistance of this topic.

I saw this great movie on TV yet again, Crimson Tide, starring Gene Hackman, Denzel Washington and Matt Craven.
It's not a stellar movie no, but this combined with recent announcement from Ubisoft regarding their DRM policy made me think of Silent Hunter-series again.

True, I was on a verge of deciding between Silent Hunter titles for a while, but I decided to go for SH5 instead of SHIII due mods it supports and graphical advantages.
I'm not a graphic whore, don't get me wrong, but as I already had briefly tried SH5 couple years back I just thought it could be hard to get used to SHIII.

And boy did it took a while for me to decide.
I watched trailers, gameplay videos, commentaries, read forums to get basic understanding and hopefully to aid in my decision.

Then I found this topic and after reading it through couple times, I decided to go for Silent Hunter 5.

I'm in the process of modding my SH5 at the very moment and I'm very eager and keen to see results. I have always loved modding games!

This should be sufficient enough for time being, wouldn't you say?
I hope I can divide time between Guild Wars 2 and Silent Hunter 5.

Landlubber Leettari, out!

I'm finally sailing, woohoo!

On this page is stated my problem I had with Sober's Mega Mod.

In the end, I have no idea how I managed to screw up like so, but I'm damn delightful and excited to finally be able to play this modded beast!
