I was intercepting a convoy on the surface on a clear day no fog and noticed this issue.
The convoy did not appear on the horizon. No smoke, no masts, no superstructure. The first I saw of it was a wake -- no ship -- inside the horizon. Then the superstructure revealed itself, then the whole ship. This is not how the world works. I was watching the horizon in the direction of the convoy because I intended to track the convoy by its smoke at the horizon edge. But this was impossible. Is there a fix for this? Thanks |

Thanks, that helped a lot.
Is there any way to increase the draw distance or visibility distance, because my crew reported smoke a long time before it was visible through my binoculars. Is that common? |

Would be good if someone could increase the render distance (like was done for SH3). Also the render distance of the waves, as when i look though binoculars i can see that the sea is calm at a short distance around me. Even when its stormy.

There is a good reason for this too. If it rendered the ocean in high detail as far as you could see FPS would take a huge hit.

Hi.
In SHIII you could change this to render the waves up to horizon. Open the scene.dat in S3D and change the value of Node Sky > EnvData > EnvData > LodFactor to 10 or higher. No FPS hit even on my friends low end system. If someone knows the related file/value in SH5 please post it. Sorry for poor english. Regards. Echol ![]() |

the scene.dat file is located in SH5/data folder, and the parameter that you are referring to is still there. I am not sure if it works the same way it worked in SHIII, though. Have to test in game. |
