Default SH3 not so realistic afterall?

Guys, what's with the periscopes underwater? I could use them at a depth of 160 m, very useful when evading depth charges...I suppose in reality one cannot do that, it's too dark down there, right?

You could easily just not use it after a certain depth. It isn't as if you have important functions to do with it at 200 metres...

I would think. Don't know how 'realistic' using the periscope on a pitch black night with 1940s optics is either. As I remember the original SH didn't even permit you to use the scope at night.

Same here. Dark as a bottom after 25. In night i can´t even see the stern...

But easy task to solve, don´t look in the periscope

Well, didn't try it at night-yet, but if I remember well, indeed, around 20-30 m. it's pitch black... but this ain't no problem, on the contrary, quite useful...I'm using GWX3 by the way.

The operative word here is reality.............periscopes are for looking at the surface and sky, not underwater...........clarity is an issue.........

If I remember right you could see clear as day in stock SH3 underwater.

With GWX, you lose the sunlight from the surface after 30m.

Yep....more or less.

However, using SH3 Commander water set at level 20 isn't too far away from stock.

Well, interesting...there was no difference at 20 and 160 m. for me....I was just curious how this would work in reality....
