There is currently no list of "in development" units to browse, so you'll just have to publicly ask around. Though people are, or will be, working on new ships/aircraft, afaik the only modder who has shown any wip projects, apart from myself is privateer (F4U Corsair). At the moment I'm still working on a Tone CA, and E13A1 Jake, along with some other new units in early stages of development; Essex CV, SB2C Helldiver, Mogami CA, and Aoba CA.

Releasing new models doesnt come quickly
I only knew of the Corsair till rodan54's post so will keep an eye out for those too

There are a few ships ported from SH3
Not perfect but something different to sink until new units become available

Was the SH3 Essex true to the original ?
I cant remember

The only Essex in SHIII that I'm aware of was just a clone of the Illustrius, with Avengers in-place of Swordfish. Thus up to this point no one has actually made a true to life Essex.

Schurem, yes the Mogami is in-game, but it's the late war CA/CV hybrid version, not the original CA model.

Only a late war version. He is talking about an earlier war version.

I am working on some civilian ships for the merchant navies in SH3. When I am finished I will add several of them to SH4, depending on whether the Japanese had ships that looked like them.

Great model, excellent texturing. Good stuff for sure...

Are you going to work on AO, spec and bumpmaps as well? We need some more modders trying out the new texturing techniques for SH4

I can import quality 3d models of USS Essex, USS Lexington and Mogamy early war from a PS game that is presented in my signature. This way Models will have geometry but not textures and needs to be finished for SH4. is anyone interested in finishing them?

Do you have the ONI manual on Japanese merchant ships? They are an excellent resource for Japanese merchant ship designs. In fact, every stock merchant used by Japan, plus a couple from 1.5, are in the manual. I'd recommend getting it if you don't already have it.

And don't forget that SH4 is also increasingly supporting a separate U-boat campaign, so the European merchant models will be useful and welcome as well.
