Changing the power of the Torpedos

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum as I have been searching the internet to get some a programm with which I can change the detonation strength and some other things.

On my research I have found some quite interresting programms. One is called "SH3 Inspector". But on my research I find many different information about it an also some quite interresting pages and links but none of them lets me download this programm. Does anyone have this programm or is somwhere in this forum a programm which lets me adjust the same configurations?
Just as a short clarification this programm is able to change the speed of a sub, the damage made by a torpedo, the damage my own sub can take etc. etc. etc.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me because I have finished playing silent hunter for the third time and now I want to have fun and change the game a bit.

Tanks for your help and a good night

Welcome to subsim

The guys in this forum have modded SH4 drastically. The changes you would like to make are included in a few mods. Some awesome mods include Trigger Maru(TM- realistic yet not as much as RFB), Real Fleet Boat(RFB, most realistic),Natural Sinking Mechanics 3.3 (NSM, ships sink based on flooding not hit points) and big time graphics update/enhancemment Reflections on the Water (ROW) created by Dave "Leovampire" Bunnell(RIP 01/08/08). Feel free to pm with questions or post we are willing to help.

I'm not gonna tell you how (some of the other guys in here can do it better, or you can search this board), but you can do all of that with S3D... (see signature)

Hi,

as Torps has said there a several Mods which contain nearly the same options as I was thinking about. There on quiestion comes up for me. For example I am interrested in some of them, do they all cooperate with each other or are there problems with e.g. 3 different mods installed at the same time?

Thanks for your answers and keep up that good work I am really impressed about what you are doing and what you are able to change in the game.

Trigger maru and Real Fleet Boat cannot coexist. ROW can be installed over either of them with the proper compatability files.I know nothing of NSM.

Welcome to the forums Xenome

As skwasjer mentioned... you can use S3D to alter just about everything in the game

install S3D (follow the install instructions) and then when ready take a look at the sim and zon files of the equipment you want to look at and or alter.

you can change speed, dud chances, damage etc etc just remember to save the file when you've fiddled with it and i would advise that you do a backup of any and all files you think of tinkering with just incase you cause some major problems.

hope that helps.

There another question occures. As I have red somewhere in the internet not all changes are applies because they are saved in several files. Is that true?

Another question considering the changes on torpedos. which file do I have to take to change the settings for the torpedos? Sorry for this quite "easy" question but I am new to this kind of stuff.

Thanks alot for your help.

Xenome,

you'll find the torpedo files in SH4\Data\Library and you are looking for Torpedoes_US.sim & Torpedoes_US.zon

providing you use S3D there will be no duplicate files... and you should have no problem with moddifiying the files with S3D as it lists the torpedo by type in properties

Xenome, the question for torps is already answered - so I will answer regarding if mods can live together. TM or RFB both work well with RSRD (there are different versions of RSRD for RFB or TM) and as mentioned ROW works on top of either. About the only thing that really shoots things in the foot is if you try to use RFB and TM together - that makes a mess. You should really use JSGME for installing mods as it keeps things nice and clean when it comes time to remove one and tweak it and reinstall it. If you have any other questions - fire em away - great group of modders here with varied experience levels and talents.
