Nice tutorials! Thanks a lot!
![]() I have one question still left that i didn't see answered. Might be something obvious that i missed for some reason ![]() I thought about the night filter item [G31 I23] and how to modify it to cover the whole screen (which afaik it already does) AND be on top of everything else, including the menu bar at the bottom. i also would like it to be applied on every menu screen, particulary periscope view. any way to accomplish that? i experimented with the parentID to get it sorted on top of other things but haven't had much success so far. I also have no idea at all how I can make it apprear in other menus... |

Does anybody now how to find or make an ItemID ??
I am trying to include the length of ships to the rec manual. This is what I made so far.. This part does not show up [G25 I53] Name=Length val Type=1029;Static text ItemID=0x2507000? <---- which number must this be ? ParentID=0x25070000 Pos=357,0,165,22 Zone= 543 327 165 22 0 1 0x25070002 1 -0.5 0x25070008 0.02 0.5 0 0 Color=0xFE Font=19 Text=955 TextFlags=0x4 This shows up in game, so it works [G25 I54] Name=Length Type=1029;Static text ItemID=0x25070002 ParentID=0x25070000 Pos=264,0,90,22 Zone= 450 327 90 22 0 1 0x25070001 1 -0.5 0x25070002 0 0.5 0 0 Color=0xFE Font=19 Text=2016 TextFlags=0x6 I now have the length workin thru the names file. But this not the best way. Hope someone can help ? Foo ![]() |

In one of the other files. cannot remember which, all Menu Items have an identification number. Linked to this Parent Item are Child Items, and so forth.
So you have a family tree, so to speak, of linked items. AFAIK SH3/4 uses this heirarchial structure to make up the objects used in a particular window (Control room, Periscope, etc). I vaguely remember trying to make up a new Parent and child IDs but this failed as these IDs seemed to be hard-coded into the software, so I had to play with the existing IDs |

Digital_Trucker, I managed to get SS shells working by copying the shell ID and pasting it to the AA shell spot in the gun.sim file. In the .upc files just use AA instead of SS in the shell type. It has worked on twim 20mm, 3_50, 4_50, 5_25 and 105mm. Those are the only ones I have tried it on and it worked fine once I got my system down.
Oh, what's this got to do with the menu.ini? Well I using TMO and the only ammo option is HE. So I had to undo the ammo gui to get the other shells to show up and change the AA tool tip too match the SS tool tip. I had played around with AA shells and I can't seem to get the flak effect to work. So I decided to switch them. Make sure your detonation range is set reasonable, mine is at 2000. shell.sim file I think it is. |
