Default aiming at ships

Reading some posts overhere at the forum i kind of started wondering something...
(using stock 1.4 SHIII)

If i unlock on a target using auto targeting and aim, for instance, on the bow of a ship will it hit on the bow and not amidhips like i would using a lock? Or wouldn't it hit at all?

regards,
rizZO

AFAIK as soon as you see that the values change:
Shiptype/range/AoB then you hit at what you aim unless ofcourse the target changes course or speed.

the torpedo data computer will aim at the bearing that the periscope is aligned with to the nearest degree... if you manually aim the torpedo at the bow of the ship and have the WO plot a solution or you use auto targeting, it should impact the part of the ship you hold the cross hairs on.

Thanks for the replies!
So this will work with auto targeting on.... That´s good news indeed!
Will try it asap.
Thanks again

As long as auto targetting is on....you have the laser guided guru on your side

If you're using stock, aim a bit forward of the stack for very satisfying ka-booms!

I find making my shots within 1000 meters of the target ensures the torpedo goes where I aim it. Sometimes I have to shoot beyond, say b/w 1,000 and 2,000 meters. It gets a little dicey, you may be off a little, but you can still have success.
