Couldn't you just get in close and shoot a dumb torpedo ahead of them?
It really shouldn't be that hard to learn how to hit things with torpedoes at close range (300m) with out using any of the settings at all and just shooting straight ahead. |

Indeed Elysion, it is not so hard to hit something 300m away, but when visibility is ony 400m, finding them, and pointing in the right direction at time of firing is difficult.

As I approach the target , I try to keep close to constant relative bearing (collision course. Then either slow down or go to astern propulsion.
I go manual TDC, set zero gyro angle, if aob is in large doubt, I rig for magnetic pistol. The pero: no magnification, the moment the ship appears I can decide whether to fire or not.
