Default

Tried to start a new Career 1945 with 7th/13th Flotilla at Trondheim.
Here I get a Typ II boat, and everythings runs great.

But when trying to starting another career 1945, where I will get a Typ VII boat, the game crashes everytime when leaving loading screen and changing into uboat 3D view. Did I miss something to activate, or anyone can help? Thanks!

I understand that it is not possible to play in multiplayer, right? I don't see the option in the game menu.

Thank you for those single training missions. I've been play'n SHIII in various forms and mods for many years, 2007. I've NEVER been any good at convoy attacks. I play careful and conservative, or to be honest chicken. I have several patrols out and in the thick of things at this moment. All that is on hold until I hone and sharpen my convoy attack skills. I can now preserve my careers and play more aggressive and with confidences, training with your singles .... thanx again. Jerry

Up-Date

Tried "Curse of the Condor" this afternoon. Loved it. "Curse of the Condor" put me right in the action. Got like 19,000 tons (2 large ships), before I was jumped by 5 escorts. That kept me busy for a few hours. One of the escorts seemed to be stopped while the others made their runs at me. I survived unscathed. I've fought off 3 or 4 and lived before, but never 5. I did notice that 1 escort, probably the snake in the grass, lagged behind the convoy about 15km or so and is still out there about 10km from me. I'll try for that 11,000 tons tomorrow, on my second attack.

I hope this is the correct thread for this post, if not, sorry. It is for the betterment of GWX KC.

Hi Doolar i'm glad you like the missions the escort at the back of the convoy
is loitering waiting for you to exit the back of the convoy to spice the mission up to throw in a curved ball into the mix
one thinks ive done well sunk 20-30k 2-4 ships and got away n then the escort at the rear closes in and brings other escorts back from the convoy towards you.

Btw back in the day of GWX 1-2-3 Subsim members started writing Real Uboat Missions or RUM Missions convoy attacks featuring the exploits of real
Uboats and their Kapitans i'm in the process of writing RUM Missions for GWX KC those missions of old were well recieved by the history buffs amongst us
when i have written ten and tested them i'll upload them also.

I've looked into the crashing in detail and have now found the trigger.
It happens due to the additional mod ‘GWX - KC Enhanced Special Effects’. As soon as this mod is active through JSGME, the game crashes as soon as switching from loading screen into the UBoat. This does not happen with the standard starting 1939 campaign, but in many career starts that happen later than 1939.

In any case, as soon as the mod ‘GWX - KC Enhanced Special Effects’ is active, the game crashes with most scenarios for me. Any other addon mod does not make any problems.

Hi sossenbinder.

I have so far been unable to replicate the problem you are describing.

Please post the full mods list that you are using.

Regardless of specifications, some systems may struggle a bit when using the GWX - KC Enhanced Special Effects included optional mod. This seems to be most accurate as a statement during career first patrols as the career is 'seated' into the savegame file when first used. Ensure that you are deleting your save 'SH3' game files in 'Documents.' It is good protocol to keep only one career there at a time.

Also, remember to not purchase equipment or crew for your U-boat on the first patrol.

Also, you must remember to NOT Alt-Tab out of the game screen. Modern SH3 does not like that one bit. If you have gotten into the habit of doing this, thinking it is safe, you should stop.

If you continue to have the same troubles, discontinue using the Enhanced Special Effects included optional mod.

Something to bear in mind: In GWX-KC, as in all big mods, the resource demand increases as the war goes on. Piling on mods and more content will threaten the 4gb (3.86gb actual) channel memory budget. That budget does not care one wit about what any of us want.

I found that if I disable the sound portion in the GWX - KC Enhanced Special Effects mod, GWX - KC does not crash any more.

On the 5th patrol at port, i manage to get the slot back by deleting him from the crew file, i leave and return fine. About to go on the 6th patrol and i see another officer missing, before leaving i delete him and rehire someone else. After that i haven't had any other issue other than maybe the gramophone eating some songs

The gramophone sometimes cutting songs short has always been there and is not attributed to GWX-KC.

Regarding the missing crew matter that you mention, now that is something that I don't believe any of us have encountered in GWX-KC. I do remember a very old SH3 bug that would sometimes remove officers and maybe other crewmen, if you had them in the damage control section during a save game. Out of old habit, I never leave them in there when saving.

The AI sensors in GWX are virtually the same (for now) as what is found in our old GWX 3.0

Regarding the interior lighting that you wish to change, I hope you will understand that the purpose of this thread is not for assistance with engineering bespoke personal GWX-KC variants. I think you can imagine how chaotic it could become. It is for general assistance for users concerning the 'as-built' version of GWX-KC. Ergo, I invite you to create a separate thread here with a request for assistance with altering the interior lighting of your U-boat. Someone with the necessary skill sets for that may help you to do that.

Thanks for your reply. I attached my activated mods. My system is high end Win11 client.
If nothing helps, I have to go without special effects.
Perhaps you can look at my activated mods and tell me if anything could cause the problems with special effects mod.

Maybe you can test on your side as I did seconds ago, now with only "GWX - KC Enhanced Special Effects" activated - same problem .. crash

1. Deleting all career files in documents
2. Activate "GWX - KC Enhanced Special Effects" through JSGME, no other additional mod, only this one is activated
3. Starting game
4. Create new career > 1945, 30th/33rd Flotilla in Flensburg

Other than the 'Enhanced Special Effects' mod, none of the others you are using are official GWX-KC mods. You use them at your own risk mate.

All you need to do is go into the GWX - KC Enhanced Special Effects/data/Library folder and disable the Baza_FX.dat and Baza_FX_Sounds.dsd files and your problems go away as to the crashing.
