No bananas hanging in the control room.
![]() They were't even available in the UK before the war's end, at that was with regular overseas trade! Where did blockaded Germany get them from, Poland? ![]() Seriously, agree with Greybeard - improved crew management on the SH4 model. Dealing with crew fatigue was not the captain's responsibility in RL. Also agree with Johnfb that mod for victuals would enhance the game, along with an expansion of the qualifications available and more steps in grade rather than a blanket approach. The crew in-game are a rather anonymous bunch and it would be rewarding to have a few 'characters' - like an ace soundman or flak gunner or a navigator with an attitude problem - someone beyond the ordinary. However, the greatest historical aspect that I feel is missing is the interaction with BdU and other boats at sea - where are the wolfpacks? We plod about from grid to grid without overall direction or aims. Other than sinking tonnage and staying alive we operate in isolation. An overall strategic aspect and direction that evolves over time would add to the level of immersion. Maybe then I would actually read the flood of messages that I get... This should include the occasional 'single mission' - land a spy, provide weather reports, escort a blockade runner, rendezvous with another boat to transfer a wounded crewman, refuel another boat at sea or get new enigma keys, rescue ditched aircrew, hand out cigarettes and water to survivors etc.., the list is endless. These features should be easy to enable or disable via SH3 Commander for example. Ah well, dream on. 30 years ago I would have sold my soul to be playing a U-Boat sim like SH3 and I'm just thankful it's here at all. ![]() KH Last edited by Kielhauler1961; 02-23-14 at 02:31 AM. |
