Good stuff,
Always a nice moment to have a new member of the family brought into a warm and loving home.

Pet therapy really is best for man-caving subsimmers; I mean really, ya' burn calories feeding, walking and cleaning up so ya live a little longer. Most rest homes have pets now but I don't know as they are into subsimming...yet. A real cutie though

Cheers all....he'll help fill the void of our previous Lhasa Apso/Ewok that sadly left us in March.

He's a character; my wife hates him, me and the daughter love him. It's a perfect match!

We always so no more after one passes but our hearts always say something else. My wife and I said the same. As of two weeks ago the change of heart kick in.

I also have been thinking about a puppy and like some of you I have also lost a pet several years ago and now it is time to find another one to love and train for security of just a bark now and then is better than nothing.

I don't want just any puppy however ... I had a cocker spaniel as a lad and I would like to finish my life with a pet that is friendly, comfortable with children, country living with a warm den. Someone to walk with and trust by my side, not too friendly to strangers and doesn't take a lot to feed or take care of.

These two are on sale, but $1,200 usd is a little high.

I'm thinking more along the lines of $500 to $600 each and purchasing two, male and female from two different breeders.

Black and tan would be more what I would prefer, blondes are nice though. I wonder what one blonde and one black ebony puppy would produce?

Just know they're places to find great dogs at no cost. For instance, my wife runs a kennel/dog spa. We can board over 100 dogs, but every week someone brings a rescue dog, cuz they know my wife will give it a free grooming. Often, we're asked to board rescue dogs until a home is found and the dog gets dumped on us. Many times she gets there in the morning to find a litter of puppies in the parking lot. She does the best she can, but we're often forced to have the shelter come get dogs we know will get put down.

My wife has fallen in love with Tibetans, she owns a few, but has several other rescue dogs. Wonderful dogs if trained young. She has two original Tibetans, very expensive dogs. Sure, we could give them away or sell them to someone who would make breed mares out of em, but she won't. They're past the age to be home dogs, but would make someone a great farm or ranch dog. She has found good homes for several others.

Can you imagine the cost of feeding 8 of these..

Could probably feed our wee monster for a month on what one of those will eat in a day or two

Have you considered adopting from death row...I mean, a shelter? Often young healthy dogs are dropped at shelters by people who decided they can't be bothered with the dog's hair colour not matching the sofa.

May I suggest you browse the web on 'shelters' and healthy young dogs being dropped there, and 'puppy mills'.

Dogs exist as such because of 'homo sapiens' influence. Some can understand up to 200 words.
And dogs adapt easily and quickly, at any age. Their instinct is to try and please the 'alpha', you.
Mine learned to do a few things right just by watching me, no need for intensive training. They copy our behaviour.
