I installed the shadow mod, but now there is a nice dark shadow, but a horrible outside shadow that is all jagged.
It's better, but not enough for me.
Could this be a Video Card issue?

It is not really easy to get accurate shadows with SH5

I have an Nvidia 580, and get better shadow than your picture...
I think your outline shadow issue is coming from your card
I get pretty clean shadow, not perfect, but slightly pixellized on edges.
Yours are pretty weird indeed...
Did you changed something via inspector or something?

In this thread you can find a bit more info about SH5 dynamic shadows related info/issues/behaviour

Hopeless , the usual problem, the shadows far away are better and more accurate and the shadows closer to the player are more blurred, In my opinion the resolution must the opposite, therefore better resolution closer to the player

It seems to me that some shading is applied to the edges for making shadows to look smoother. This is not visible in far shadows because the shaded area is lesser than one pixel wide.

If the above statement was true, we should look for a way to reduce this shading, because as it is now it results an odd blurring effect

SH5 has three Cascade Shadows Maps (CSM), I think the code of the SH5 for the CSM has an error and instead of casting shadows with better resolution closer to the player, the SH5 borked code for the shadows develop better resolution for shadows far away from the player and worst resolution for shadows closer to the player

One way to find out it seems to me - boot up your game in stock settings and see what the shadows do. You've tried that already, right?

Since V13's problem has started suddenly, I suspect that his shadow glich was caused by some wrong setting. Unfortunately he has overwritten so many of the stock files with modded ones, that it would hard for him deciding which files were corrupted.

V13, you are reinstalling the game, don't you?

I will soon, I am just making backups of my personal mods.

EDIT: I would like to add before I re install, does sinking a ship in for example, coastal waters, keep it sunk on other missions? like in the next mission Happy times?
Or does sinking a ship actually remove it at all?

I've heard others say that if you sink say the HMS Hood in Total Germany, it is gone forever. There appears to be a major issue with the Carriers during Mare Nostrom if you sunk them in earlier campaigns.

Speaking of shadows, I was having the same issue off and on. Sometimes the near shadows were good other times they were bad. This game has all the symptoms of being rushed. From what I know about other games the source code seems to be very inefficient when it comes to draw calls and rendering. I have anti-aliasing all the way up and I'm still getting artifacts on near objects.

I can tweak the SH5 dynamic shadows settings to show accurate shadows closer to the player, the problem is that then ALL the far away shadows completely disappear/vanish
