Mate your not understanding what I am saying. Please let me explain this fully to help you.

I am using both the TDW New UIs Mod and the REM mod

In the TDW New UIs Mod Discussion thread at:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166093

TDW says

Quote:
"Modified Ubooat_Sensors.sim file for Repaired_Equipment_MOD_by_Xrundel_TheBeast" (R.E.M) Version 1.2
mod (this file has to be installed in the Repaired_Equipment_MOD_by_Xrundel_TheBeast" (R.E.M) Version 1.2
mod in \data\Objects\Sensors and the Repaired_Equipment_MOD_by_Xrundel_TheBeast" (R.E.M) Version 1.2
mod HAS to be installed last in JSGME). This modified file makes it compatible with v6.9.0 of my UIs mod and FX_Update v0.0.18: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QTF15E42"
So he says he is supplying a modified Uboat_Sensors.sim file that needs to replace the REM supplied version of that file. The problem is TDW's download link for that file is a dead link.

You claim that you supplied a modified package, but that package HAS IDENTICAL versions of the Uboat_Sensors.sim file. As I said:

Quote:
Ok so the mod authors "R.E.M_by_Xrundel_TheBeast_1.2.7z" file contains that file with a datetime stamp of Thursday, ‎2 ‎June ‎2011, ‏‎2:25:10 PM and a filesize of 22 919 bytes

Now you guys point to your modified file being "R.E.M.7z" that contains the file with a datetime stamp of ‎Thursday, ‎2 ‎June ‎2011, ‏‎2:25:10 PM and a filesize of 22 919 bytes
So therefore, I said:

Quote:
So if you have fixed the compatability problem that TDW advises of, why are both files the same datetime stamp and same size?

Hi Bathrone, this is funny

Volodya is not "claiming" anything, he is asserting something that he knows too well, being one of the authors of that package (the other is me, by the way).

But are we talking about the same package anyway? I start doubting it

The one that I and Volodya are talking about contains four folders:
  1. R.E.M_by_XRundel_TheBeast_1.2: this is the mod itself;

  2. R.E.M. - hydrophone mute for player fix: name speaks by itself;

  3. R.E.M. - hydrophone mute for player fix (TDW compatible): as above, but based on the version of Uboat_Sensors.sim compatible (quite so!) with TDW's mods;

  4. R.E.M_by_XRundel_TheBeast_1.2 - no hyd on surface - NewUIs-IRAI compatible: as above, but with settings which make hydrophones useless on surface.

If this is still not enough for you to trust us, open the sim files of each folder in S3d, and count their chunks. You will notice that the last two fixes contain 148 chunks instead of 144. The four additional chunks are relative to two controllers added by TDW for compatibility with his mods.

Crack that whip , i like it . I like the thorough way you are modding your game . If no one complains about problems with mods or mods orders or compatability then they wont ever get fixed

Why are you talking about main mod version again?
Please, just read my previous post again.. attentively this time..

Hi Gap and thankyou for the response

Your not understanding what the issue is, so I will try to say it another way.

I'm fully aware of the contents of the packages found in these two:

"R.E.M_by_Xrundel_TheBeast_1.2.7z"

"R.E.M.7z"

And I fully understand your statement, and agree with your statement here:

Quote:
The one that I and Volodya are talking about contains four folders:
R.E.M_by_XRundel_TheBeast_1.2: this is the mod itself;

R.E.M. - hydrophone mute for player fix: name speaks by itself;

R.E.M_by_XRundel_TheBeast_1.2 - no hyd on surface - NewUIs-IRAI compatible: as above, but with settings which make hydrophones useless on surface.
Please listen to this:

In the TDW New UIs Mod Discussion thread at:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166093
So understand that what I am talking about is compatibility between TDW's New UI mod and the REM mod.

Now the mod author of New UI in his first post of the NewUI discussion thread advises everyone that he has released a patch for REM that contains a modified Uboat_Sensors.sim file to make it compatible with his mod.

Here is exactly what the mod author TDW says:

So I am trying to get my hands on that specific version of that specific file. TDWs download link for that specific version of that specific file is dead.

I am making the point sir that in both "R.E.M_by_Xrundel_TheBeast_1.2.7z" and "R.E.M.7z" the Uboat_Sensors.sim file is identical. So either both of these archives contain TDWs fixes and TDWs post in his mod discussion thread is now wrong, or, both of these archives dont contain TDWs fixes and I dont seem to be able to download the fix from a live download link. Which one is it???????

When you make comments like "The one that I and Volodya are talking about contains four folders" you imply that there is a difference between "R.E.M_by_Xrundel_TheBeast_1.2.7z" and "R.E.M.7z", however the important file in question which according to TDW is Uboat_Sensors.sim file is identical with the same datetimestamp and the same filesize between both "R.E.M_by_Xrundel_TheBeast_1.2.7z" and "R.E.M.7z".

So now do you understand my confusion surrounding how to properly manage the configuration of these two mods? You guys need to appreciate it is TDW saying these things in his mod thread and I simply trying to correctly configure the mods together by following instructions of the mod authors.

Call me dumb, but sincerely I don't get your point yet.

R.E.M.7z doesn't contain a copy of the discussed sim file, but four, one for each folder contained in the package.
All you need in order to enjoy REM together with New UI's & Co is included in the same package. Mod order should be like this:
  • New UI's, IRAI, FxUpdate in any combination;
  • R.E.M_by_XRundel_TheBeast_1.2;
  • one among R.E.M. - hydrophone mute for player fix (TDW compatible) or R.E.M_by_XRundel_TheBeast_1.2 - no hyd on surface - NewUIs-IRAI compatible

Either of the last two (alternative) items in the above list will ensure combatibility between TDW's mods and R.E.M, and they will fix the problem of hydrophone contacts getting unadible below a certain depth. The dates o their respective sim files? 15/02/2013 19:05 and 16/02/2013 02:30, if you want to know

That simple; don't make things more complicated than we need.

Mate I understand what your saying and I can see those four various revisions of the UBoot_Sensors.sim in "R.E.M.7z"

So essentially your saying that what TDW has said in his New UI mod discussion thread is wrong, because youve addressed compatability to TDWs mods without the need to use TDWs patch into REM

Thats fine and Im cool with it

Please understand its not me making it more complex, Im simply following what was said by TDW and Im trying to get to the bottom of it. Youve now specifically confirmed the situation and TDW has wrong info, thats great

Thankyou

In other words: we have made our tweaks on the sim file patched by TDW; had you enabled it before my and Volodya's fix, it would have been overwritten.

Awesome Ill suggest to TDW that he remove that section of his first post in the New UI discussion thread to avoid others falling into this

I tried to PM TDW about Multiple UIs thread weeks to months ago. I brought up the Uboat_Sensors.sim download link needs to be updated. That way it would not get overlooked again and again and again .

Code:
Sober - If no one complains about problems with mods or mods orders or compatability then they wont ever get fixed.
Stated mailbox is full.

I, too, have posted in Multiple UIs thread weeks to months ago about the Uboat_Sensors.sim download link needs to be updated. Informed TDW his mailbox is full.

We all want the game to be the best it can be

I copied this link to Multiple UIs thread in hopes of TDW seeing it.

Is it so hard to download and install whatever you need?

Sorry gap and volodya61. Hope I did not upset anyone here. I am just adding my two cents to the conversation from the general context of the thread and what I remember weeks and months ago. I never saw chunk size mentioned weeks and months ago, and never looked for file date and size during those times. I had NO need to.

I do not get involved as much, with what you have done along with Bathrone, in the style of how, the three of you are trying to improve the game. I help out in other ways.

I had no problems with downloads.

No problem at all, Mike

Striving to figure things up, instead of passively accepting the instructions received by an unknown subsim-mate, is the right approach to avoid blatant errors, and to understand what you are doing.

Specifically about this thread, considered the relative simplicity of the topic we are discussing, and the many explainations that I and Volodya have provided, I just find it funny that we didn't get to understand each other right away but I hope that all the doubts are dispelled now
