Yea just checked in over at Firstgames, no diablo 3 in their data base, so they aren't taking pre-orders. Yet.
Have you heard much about bestbuy?
Or people that dealt with them?
Bestbuy, no. Unless over here they are go under the name 'Thats Hot' merchants, cheap games no manual plain case etc.

Aussie abit cheaper Diablo 3 $74.95

BestBuy is an electronics chain store in the US and might be located in other countries. I buy my games/DVDs/electronics through them and I would highly recommend them

ok my bad I thought only NZ/Aus you want to get the game. If that best buy is selling D3 for that low of a price in the states then grab it. Might be able to grab an Oceanic copy of them.

Only place here where new releases sell that cheap is Trademe auction site from merchants, I brought Shogun 2 for $54 the day it was released here of Trademe everywhere else it was selling for $98, have to be quick though and not every merchant sells them at low prices only know one who does this & then again he only does this to certain new releases - I'm hoping he will sell D3 for $50 odd bucks.
So I figure these merchants are selling the game at the price they buy them for or maybe they get it a few dollars less and add a couple of dollars. Then that means retailers get the games for around $40-50 then add another $50.

You wouldn't want to sign up on Trademe though to much BS red tape an overseas customer has to go through. That Bestbuy sounds like the one.

yea thanks kiwi, i think i'm gonna wait until we are a bit closer to release date, certainly until august 1st, after more is announced by Blizz about Diablo 3, hopefully more details about CE as well.
Thanks for the input though.

Received email today, more info on the beta.

Diablo III Beta Announcement :

http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company...a:d3-interview

Quote:
Now that the internal testing is nearing completion, what aspects of the game do you hope to focus on during the beta test?

Kevin Martens: Polish, polish, polish. In particular, we***8217;re going to keep refining our approach to the game***8217;s action-storytelling. We want the player to experience the story, instead of just being told the story by NPCs, so we***8217;re moving a lot of the dialogue into the gameplay and leaving the quest hubs with just the bare, essential details needed to keep the plot moving. One example of this kind of a change can be found when players first get to New Tristram. When they arrive, they find the town under siege by a horde of zombies, and the guards need help fending off the attack before they can open the gates. One of the conversations between the player and the guards used to take place before the main zombie attack, but it now takes place during the attack. That subtle change took a short conversation and moved it into the action of the game, which made it more impactful and intense. Ultimately, we want the story to feel ambient and organic, instead of something that only happens between battles.

How Diablo III’s DRM Will Affect You

Not being able to pause your game, for example.

Wow...just wow....

Blizzard has put the final nail in the coffin for me with Diablo 3, with their new policy they just zapped the last bit of my interest in the game. (thank you activision I know you greedy bastards are responsible for this)

Like the review stated it'll be probally most popular online but my intention is to enjoy this game in single player taking my time and doing it at my own pace without othe witless wonders hacking slashing about. The only reason I would bother Multiplayer was like in Diablo 2 is to co-op with friends.

Unless they remove this silly requirement for singleplayer (before or after release) I'm not interested.

I was actually warming up to it a bit, playing coop with friends at least. That kinda negated the always-online bit. But not being able to pause it in SP? I dunno, when I play something by myself it spends half of its time paused, while I'm reading an article or checking on something.

Just wouldn't work out for me.

Nor for me...imagine...
it's saturday night...you've gotten a lovely pizza in the oven but you're quite far in a quest in Diablo 3 far between checkpoints...then you'll eventually come across the dilemma..Burn or not to burn

I tend to pause quite a bit too or have the game idle on safe areas while I'm either distracted by phone/door or been called to help somewhere around the house for a bit.

this all can't be done in Diablo III...

Well, there's one game i wont be playing. Good thing there are plenty other games to play. I'll bet the Diablo3 storyline turns out to be really contrived and the gameplay not that much different from Diablo2 anyway.

Oh.. and ill also bet Diablo3 has a 60-65 dollar price tag instead of 40 or 50.

Noo.. thank you.

Not able to pause the sp game is madness! Is this a new ploy to stop the pirates or something? Like always they will find a way they always do. Stupid idea. So will I still be getting DIII. Yes. Damn straight, I need to at least play the single player through once, dont care about the multiplayer side of it. I will just have to make sure when I start I have my coffee, chocky bickies and cigars next to me to avoid getting kicked out of single player!!

Given up on Diablo 3, then wait for these two games, both are not bad either.

Grim Dawn (Diablo 3 killer!)
Players will be thrust into the dark, war-torn world of Cairn where a once proud empire has been brought to ruin and the human race driven to the edge of extinction.

Path of Exile (free mmo diablo 3 killer!)
New Zealand-based developer Griding Gear Games has been laboring on action-RPG Path of Exile since 2006. They gave us an exclusive look at in-game combat with two of the six announced character classes, the Marauder and the Ranger.

And of course Torchlight 2 we all know about...

Thanks for the link Frank. Free MMO are cropping to the gaming scene these days in numbers.

DC Universe Online is also going F2P in October that means in couple days.

I'm having a blast with World of tanks and even more with Champions Online.

Going to try DC Universe as well and maybe spend 5 bucks to get their premium account(not gold). But its publisher is SEGA and I'm worried with CC information getting stolen.
