Diablo 3

...in my eyes, the most anticipated release of a game, period.
From a leaked Blizzard product slate, Diablo 3 will be released in Q4 of 2011.
After playing Diablo 1 many many moons ago, i was hooked.
And Diablo 3 just looks amazing...

a teaser trailer

the Barbarian looks friggin awesome:
gameplay footage as the Barbarian

and some official footage of the monk class:
Monk gameplay footage

Wow, is all i can say...

Let's hope the product slate stays true to its timeline and i will be playing this in 2011!

Titan will be the new mmo from Blizz, also note the release of the Wow movie and 2 more xpacs for WoW game.

They need 18 months to produce an expansion? There's entire games released on a shorter schedules.

Most of them aren't any good, but still.

Considering the resume of Blizzard games and the scope of games they release, 18 mths isn't too bad.
Consider also the current workload of games currently being supported, and the magnitude of those games: WOW and Starcraft 2!
Other game companies wouldn't take that long to release games as most of them only have 1 game to concentrate on at a time.

It's personal taste ofc, but imho Blizz have released some absolutely wonderful games in the past, most notably Diablo series, and Starcraft 1 and 2.
Blizzard have never released 2 games in the same year, and the slate indicates that.
Quality, not quantity, i'd rather wait 18 mths for a xpac, or, in the case of Diablo a few years for a full game, knowing that i'm getting a great game, full of content, replayability etc etc.

Yeah, was more in jest really. I understand why and prefer they do it like that, but on the other hand you have the stuff like CoD that gets rehashed every single year.

How dare you to defy Blizzard, Arclight :stare:

well...they dissapoint me a bit when they merged with Activision but still....How dare you!

I really wonder what Diablo 3 has in store in storywise that is..:hmmm: but Blizzard has never failed me in that with the games I have purchases from them.

that product slate makes me sad actually.....
I do not see a new installment of a Warcraft RTS game :wah: one of the reasons I hate WoW of all MMORGPS so much!

The reason behind the 18 months it takes for the expansion to come out is to get maximum profit off the first release. :03:

Blizzard are my favorite developers. Didn't know about 2 more expansions coming out for wow, I thought Cata would be the last one rumor was Wow was going to end up free to play by 2012, they must of dropped that and went with the 2 more expansions then they will probably go free to play and start on Titan. :hmmm:

I share your sentiment, same here.

I'm pretty sure that once the last xpac for WoW goes live they will go full steam ahead with Titan, as that leaves them to concentrate fully on it.
Contrary to popular belief, Blizz have a small development team, it can easily be assumed that with the amount of revenue they are generating from WoW, and to a lesser extent Starcraft that they would have a huge dev team.

Either way, Blizz are a power house in game development, and with Diablo 3 around the corner, well....things are looking decidedly good for them.

I hate it there's no Paladin.

It seems Christian phobic people are running the show nowadays.

(no offense to atheist)

The Paladin will not be making a return for Diablo 3.
The Paladin was in Diablo 2, though a Paladin might be seen in the game (as an NPC?), and Blizzard has not ruled out any of the characters from returning in Diablo 3 expansion packs. One strike against the Paladin returning is that Auras will be in Diablo 3, most likely as Monk skills, which would seem to make the Paladin's best known skill type redundant.
We do not need any more magical flying hammers that do damage to anything thank you very much. :O:

Awww, I liked the paladin in Diablo 2. :-?

Well, this may be bad news for a Diablo 3 release of 2011...

"... Activision COO and CFO Thomas Tippl specifically said that with no current release window for Blizzard's Diablo III, the publisher "felt it prudent" to omit the game from its 2011 financial outlook numbers.
"We think that in the long run, Blizzard is good for one major new release a year," Tippl said. "But of course, what always rules is that the quality of the game has to be there."

Too early in the year to tell ofc, but...doesn't look good so far.
The thing that gets me though is that everytime they talk about Diablo 3, and a possible release date, or for that matter anything Diablo 3, it's all about the quality of the game and that they will release it when it's good enough to be released.
Fair enough you say? Well, how long has this been going on for now, honestly, you would think that upon release this game will be overflowing with quality!
Officially the game has now been in development since 2003. But, unofficially since 2000 when Blizzard North were working on it. They then went down.
That's a looooong time for a game. Any game.

Can't wait for its release. Think I'll try out the witch doctor, as its closest to the Necromancer which was my favourite:D
