It's interesting that the article says the fire was in #1 engine, yet both wings are intact. I'm curious to read the whole story. Still, I agree it was the proverbial good landing for the crew.

I love the video of the fly-along. My only complaint is that the cameraman didn't to a full 360 sweep from the top turret.

Those are from the link that Jimbuna posted. Does not look like an engine fire to me. Fuel leak maybe?

No matter though. It is a sad loss.

This is the same B-17 that was badly damaged in the 1979 tornado that destroyed the old Bradley Air Museum in Windsor Locks.

Poor plane must have bad karma.
