Liberty Belle crashes
Nooooooooo!
Classic B-17 down in Illinois. Everybody got out okay, but the plane, well... http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pb2006/lib.jpg http://www.wthr.com/story/14893917/v...es-in-illinois I'm due to see two flying B-17s at an airshow this weekend, and this'll certainly be a sad reminder of how few of them are left now... |
Damn. :-?

B17 crases in Illinois
Just...sad.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/0..._n_876008.html A World War II-era bomber has crashed in the Chicago suburbs, as authorities try to figure out what caused a damaging fire onboard the craft. The B-17 bomber, known as a "Flying Fortress," is believed to be the Liberty Belle, a plane that was at the Aurora Municipal Airport 40 miles west of Chicago over the weekend. |
Oh bugger :nope:

Damn. Sad to see another one of these old ladies gone.
|
Have to admit its a beautiful aircraft, and sad to see one like that. (don't know what I would do if the last flying Lancaster bomber was to crash)
|
Damn shame.
|
Just read this on an aviation site but at least all seven occupants walked away from it.

Had the chance to go inside a B-17 when I was little, very sad to see one lost.
|
This is really sad. But, after all, it is good luck that the crew survived.

I did a hop in Aluminum Overcast a few years ago. It was awesome.
Sad to see a warbird crash, but at least there were no fatalities. |
