I came across a V3_5 problem that caused my game to crash. The Campaign section seemed to cause this, as when removing this from the mod all was OK This was with just the supermod files and nothing extra. I'll have a peek at these files later. I'm playing on my laptop so it might just be a memory/graphic overflow problem.
