OLC Gold GUI for dummies

Here are some reasons that the OLC GUI video tutorials frustrate me:

1) The longer one was apparently done with an earlier version of the GUI. The current version doesn't show the position of your U-boat. So how am I supposed to plot positions of other ships, figure out intercept courses, angle on the bow, etc.? He spends half the video doing that stuff, but it all depends on knowing one's U-boat position.

2) There is no explanation, either in the "Original" video or the "Supplemental" video, of the new vertical scale in the UZO. It wasn't there in the "Original" video, nor is it mentioned in the "Supplemental" video.

Can anyone explain the new UZO vertical scale, or how to work around not having a marker for your U-boat position?
