space ships. Serously there is never gonna be a silent hunter 6 or 7 .But if there will be give us some modern day subsim. Dangerous waters had potential but the grafics were horrible Serously its just to boring looking at 2d game screens. At least if it was 3d i had something to look at.

sh7 and beyond.

howabout a sim that works straight out the box.
One that dont need to be tweeked up, just one that works.
one that dont need internet conection all da time, just one that works.
One that can be modded to make it shine more, but work first time everytime.
dont care if its under the polar caps dont care if its under a polar bear.
me just want one that works.
thats what me pay money for, one that works.

Hmm... if that's true why did you, yourself bother uploading patch 1.31 for Silent Hunter to the Subsim Downloads area?

As far as Aces of the Deep's "perfection" the patch readme on the Subsim downloads page states....

When saving a game, the number of deck gun rounds remaining will be correctly saved.
A gauge has been added showing amount of compressed air and water in the boat.
Torpedoes were vanishing from the torpedo loading screen; this was fixed.
The music for "Ride of the Valkyres" and "Tipperary" have been added.
Crash on reporting contact bug fixed.

Very few PC games have ever been perfect out of the box no matter how far back you go take those rose colored classes off Steve!

I would call them "spartane" graphics, I think too the game had (huge) potential, unfortunately Sonalyst abandoned the simulator totally leaving it with significant bugs. The fun in SC,DW for me was with the building of tactics, witch require essential and not misunderstandable graphics

I thought dangerous waters was a really good sim. It may of had some 2d mixed in with it but thats how all the sims used to work. I haven't played it in a while, last time was before SH3 came out so I imagine by now the gfx do feel old.

Dangerous Waters did have simplistic graphics but conversely, the simulation physics behind the game were incredible and based on Sonalyst's expertise in its work providing sonar alasysis for the US Navy.

Most sims today have the opposite stance, developers spend relatively little effort on accuracy and cutting-edge simulation AI & physics, spending most of their time on cutting-edge graphics.

The ideal situation would be a game that balances the qualities between accurate gameplay/physics with the graphics quality. Sadly I doubt we'll ever see this happen in today's game development climate
