In addition to my first post you might wanna try alter the CareerOptions upc again

[CareerOptions 2]
ID= Happytimes40

[CareerOptions 2.Flotilla 1]
ID= C2Flotilla1
NameDisplayable= 2. Unterseebootsflottille
IDLinkFlotilla= 2ndFlotilla ; link to ID in Flotilla upc file
IDLinkUserPlayerUnits= F2VIIB, 1
FlotillaBriefingText=
FlotillaCommonality= 1

Change in yellow

It may be that using a save after loading in the changes just wont do it
May need to be from the start or at least in port

And dont forget the VIIB ingame looks just llike the VIIC bar the net cutter

Quote:
Are you serious? They didn't even model the proper conning towers? Is there a proper VIIB conning tower in the game that we can switch out or was there not even one made for SH5?

Oh geez.............
According to the files there is a specific 7B conning tower
2 in fact

*:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Submarine\NSS_Uboat7b\Submarine Parts

Has named 7B towers

*:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\UPCDataGE\UPCUnitsData - UnitParts4VIIB

Quote:
[UnitPart 1]
ID= VIIBTower0
Type= VIIBConningTower ;Can only placed on unit parts slot of this type
NameDisplayable= VIIB-Conning-Name
Quote:
[UnitPart 2]
ID= VIIBTower1
Type= VIIBConningTower ;Can only placed on unit parts slot of this type
NameDisplayable= VIIB-Conning1-Name
So whether the model is the same despite different name or something else is messed up

Though is the Flotillas upc thats the one that needs altering to look as below

[Flotilla 2.UserPlayerUnitType 1]
ID=F2VIIA
NameDisplayable=Type VIIA U-boat
AvailabilityInterval=1936-08-12, 1941-01-01
IDLinkUserPlayerUnitType=VIIA
UnitTypeCommonality=4.000000
IDFlotillaLinkTransferTo=NULL

[Flotilla 2.UserPlayerUnitType 1.Objective 1]
ID=MB21OBj1
NameDisplayable=NULL
AvailabilityInterval=1943-04-01, 1943-06-15
ObjectiveCode=Japan

[Flotilla 2.UserPlayerUnitType 2]
ID=F2VIIB
NameDisplayable=Type VIIB U-boat
AvailabilityInterval=1938-06-25, 1941-01-01
IDLinkUserPlayerUnitType=VIIB
UnitTypeCommonality=4.000000
IDFlotillaLinkTransferTo=NULL

[Flotilla 2.UserPlayerUnitType 2.Objective 1]
ID=MB21OBj1
NameDisplayable=NULL
AvailabilityInterval=1943-04-01, 1943-06-15
ObjectiveCode=Japan

[Flotilla 2.UserPlayerUnitType 3]
ID=F2VIIC
NameDisplayable=Type VIIC U-boat
AvailabilityInterval=1940-11-02, 1945-12-31
IDLinkUserPlayerUnitType=VIIC
UnitTypeCommonality=10.000000
IDFlotillaLinkTransferTo=NULL

[Flotilla 2.UserPlayerUnitType 3.Objective 1]
ID=MB21OBj1
NameDisplayable=NULL
AvailabilityInterval=1943-04-01, 1943-06-15
ObjectiveCode=Japan

Not sure the Objectives are needed as not used but meh wont hurt to add in as the devs did
Wonder why they mirrored the files there
Makes JSGME a lil harder to work out for those sort of mods

I think you're right. IIRC most of the files in the Documents\PlayerContext\ type folders get copied there from your main install when you start a new campaign or patrol. So I believe if you're going to do changes to the flotillla file you need to make the changes in both locations.

This is odd, though:
Code:
ObjectiveCode=Japan
Makes me think some of that stuff isn't being used anymore.

Yeah those are SH4 Objectives
Looks like they butchered the same files and left in the rest

Thats why changes didnt show on a save game then as was reading from my docs
Now it begins to make a lil sense

I did some research and found that the 7C was indeed in service in 1939, so getting one in that times period is not as crazy as people think.

methinks not

U69 - First VIIC ordered

Ordered 30 May 1938
Laid down 11 Nov 1939 F. Krupp Germaniawerft AG, Kiel (werk 603)
Launched 19 Sep 1940
Commissioned 2 Nov 1940

Career
2 Nov 1940 - 31 Jan 1941 7. Flottille (training)
1 Feb 1941 - 17 Feb 1943 7. Flottille (front boat)

So 1st Feb 41 is the first date you should get one in a frontline flotilla
And thats the 7th
You are in the second flotilla in TotalGermany and HappyTimes
WesternApproaches is the 7th flotilla so thats when one should really be available

The ideal situation would that you could pick your start date, flotilla and boat type at the start of the game just like in SH3. Hopefully in time Modders will be able to bring this back.
Makes me scratch my head as to why it was all so radically changed for SH5.
Why change something that's not broken.

Exactly
Removed because of missions and dynamic campaign

Am sure someone could rewrite\remove the missions
Adding the rest in menu wise should be easyish for someone such as Darkwraith who has rewritten the UI
Flotillas are simple - in fact have a copy here alreay done lol for GWX4 just needs all but the type7 removed and new start points added as world is different to previous versions - land terrain has altered as ports have

Aye the game has an awful lot of potential just a shame it's going to take so long to realize it.

Frankly, the same was true of the previous games, I just think people have forgotten how bad stock was before the mods came along.

You might be right there. Spent so long playing SH3 GWX it has made me expect at least some semblance of that level of development out of the box.

Yes, it's playable. You can use one in the single missions.
