I guess I can understand where you are coming from. You obviously didn't read his initial complaints, or the second time he posted his complaints. I guess being informed on actual the topic would have cut into your posting time, so your lack of comprehension of the topic is completely understandable.

This "experienced fan's view" is that it is a good thing to read the manual... even that manual, before jumping in.

The lack of the same control structure identical to the previous iterations of the series is not actually a bug.

And what, exactly, has the fact that the manual points out which keys you need to be familiar with to play the game properly got to do with it's failure as "an insight into submarine warfare for the second world war."

The manual is pretty bad, even by post-SH1 standards, but a perusal of it would have solved the OP's problems.
