I voted no. And the reason is that i really want us all to be in one place instead of splitting the good crew we have here

I did not vote. Since I do not speak German, I would not use it and would rather let native German speakers voice their opinion.

Even though I also think it is better to have all discussions on one forum in a common language, Germany has a large number of subsimmers. I had read a long time ago that it was the second biggest market for subsims after the U.S.A. We could get a lot of useful info right here from new posters who would not normally post here, either because they do not speak english or feel more comfortable expressing themselves in German.

I'm not really in favour of a german forum on subsim. As others have already mentioned, it would only split the community (a bit). IMO one of the great things about the internet is the ability to communicate with all you fine chaps from all over the world.

It's not that I'm "against" such a forum per se, but I personally don't need one and most probably wouldn't use it.

I think the same.

Alex, what about a French forum?

Na, we're probably not enough.

Hmm, why not, after all.
But the only french members that I know currently (Kapitan_Zur_See and Mikhayl) are both more fluent in english than I am, ROFLMAO.

I don't think Subsim needs a french forum actually, as our community on the site is still a minority.

I don't speak German, but I voted yes. Because really, why not? I don't think it will splinter our community as much as it will bring new blood in.

I voted yes, because it might motivate me to start studying the language for realz.

Edit: TBH I was sort of surprised when I first came here that there wasn't a German language forum already.

Voted yes.
The more people Subsim has, the more productive and stronger we get.

I have had Silent Hunter Mods Forum as a multi-language forum since the very beginning, but it does not accumulate much more native language forum members being active in their own languages anyway. And I seriously doubt it will be any better in Subsim. Subsim is still regarded as an anglophone forum, and the German native speaking members and guests will most likely frequent the German Ubi forum and MarineSims.de the most as they have always done.

Then again, it can't hurt...

I voted yes, but see other people's concerns re a seperate forum as justified as well.....
you will find that most Germans have an intermediate to advanced command of the English language, considering it's status in the E.U. (business, economics, politics, trade etc etc...) you will find that most non-English speaking countries in the E.U. have at minimum a average understanding of the English language...
the poll results will be interesting...

There is already a Polish forum, a Spanish forum and a Chinese (?) forum, so why not German and French?

As with a couple of others, though, I declined to vote, since I wouldn't be using it anyway.

I voted "Yes" for some reasons and some ideas growing at the moment. But it is not me to introduce that ideas.

Well, if there is a demand for it, I would try and translate some German things into English from time to time...
