Just an additional point, special crew abilities were already present in SH3 and SH4 and having the performance of the crew vary based on skill and experience is standard in most sims, whether land, sea or air based. In other sims however, crew performance is based on military experience categories, i.e. "conscript", "green", "regular", "veteran", "crack", "elite". Obviously one mistake Ubi made was in using RPG type categories which would be more suited to Fallout 3 than Silent Hunter 5.

personally ill buy it if i feel like it. I bought Rise of flight and "endured" the "horrible" DRM it came with and had no big issues. sure, the server went down occasionally...but for a small Eastern European company their reliability was good. i dont think it will really be a problem with a company the size of Ubisoft
In short, Yes, i'll buy silent hunter 5 if it is the game that it looks like it will be.

The Kiel canal is an oversight.
Can someone refresh my memory, was it in stock SH3? I was under the impression it was added by modders.

I dont know... I can see ubi haveing server issues/slowdowns... one you get thousands of people trying to get on, and be connected at once... I think you will start knoticeing....

If memory serves correct it was "ref" who released terrain editing tools, making the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal and others possible. Later it was incooperated in mods like LSH and GWX.
