They talk about a "dynamic campaign" that responds to the player's actions... and they do so while highlighting the battle for malta. Now as memory serves, the british dispatch some carriers to ferry some land based front-line aircraft to bolster Malta's defenders. Those carriers and the aircraft end up scaring the Italians into staying in port.

I'd wonder if the dynamic campaign wouldn't present the possibilty of a player success against the carriers causing the Italians to sortie against the reinforcement task forces and the island garrison. Maybe it would allow the Luftwaffe to gain aerial superiority which would change the Med battlefield tremendously.
