I had my first IX-cruise last night. Successfull too. 3 Black Swans, 1 Destroyer, 2 Corvettes, 2 Small Freighters, 2 large cargos (I think....)
Anyway. Had about 50% hull dmg. Went deep, and precided to bathroom for personal hygiene before bed, after I had evaded the escorts. 1xTC.
When I came back things went bad. Tried to gain some "altitude", but to no avail. "Hull destroyed by pressure".
Thing is, I did not know of that danger when I popped out for a quick teeth-brush.
Please advise; DiD or savegame re-try?

You are so like me n-careers before. You should ween yourself the habit of attacking escorts, it's bad for your health and for your tonnage. Better focus your torpedoes and fury on the big tankers and cargos. Learned to evade DDs instead of fighting them.
My opinion to your question, start another career. I loss better careers before.
