I'd just BP-clone Mogami and rename it Tone, it would look better, IMO. That or really clone it, and move the turret nodes forward. Once S3D does 3d, i'd export the 3 forward gun bases and do it that way. Wonder why he didn't just delete the rear stack. Deleting nodes is easy, even I can do that It's adding 3d that's hard for noobs like me.

Doesn't do it for me, the heavy Takao bridge is just too distinctive. Certain ships are too unique to be used as a base for a change like this. Kinda like trying to use Fuso for something else, the pagoda is too distinctive.

Honestly just imagining the stock Mogami as a temporary Tone should suffice. It definitely works. That and I'm not a big fan of kit bashing, or ported SHIII ships.

If you want to do a really thorough job of converting "Mogami" to "Tone", the superstructure and funnels would have to be moved aft as well, not to mention altering masts, raising the stern etc- NOT something for a rainy Saturday afternoon. For now, this will have to do, once the texture thing is solved- any ideas?

This was originally a ported SH4 ship- "Takao" is not part of SH3, so it's really reporting a ship BACK to SH4.
Nothing wrong with kit bashing, as long as it's done properly. Sometimes, though, you has to take what you can get, or do the job better yourself.

Can't say for sure, knowledge is lacking here, but I do believe that texture issue looks to be the same problem that's keeping any 3d work from being done with SH4 atm. At least until we get the 3d release of S3D.

Edit: It doesn't look to be a simple converting back to SH4 job. As he modified the mesh, and as stated above 3d modifications aren't cooperating well with SH4. Although someone else should probably chime in, if there is infact a way to get it to work.

It won't be long anymore before S3D can be used to import models. I expect this to be available in version 0.6 around begin/mid januari

Cool, can't wait for the following 'boom' in new ships to come next year.
