Entrapment, according to US law, does NOT apply here. Specifically:

However, there is no entrapment where a person is ready and willing to break the law and the government agents merely provide what appears to be a favorable opportunity for the person to commit the crime.

Leaving an unlocked car somewhere does not provoke a person to take it - it merely provides what that person sees as an easy opportunity.

By posters' earlier logic, what if a cop hopped out of a squad car to chase a perp, and left the door open and the keys in the ignition? Would it be entrapment for someone to steal the squad? Of course not.
