Default Of music in SH4

Not sure if this should be here or in general discussion, so if I have it wrong I apologise now.

First off, could someone please tell me where i can find a program to dowload that will play .ogg files?

Next, whilst I enjoy the intro music, etc. I would rather not have certain tracks playing whilst I playing the game, especially the atmospheric music included on the radio and gramophone. If I was to remove say, the radiotrack file from the Washington folder, and the Battle, Defeat, High Tension files, etc. but leave others in will that solve the problem?

Finally whilst I think I have found where I can find some contemporay music files, is there a mod that can be installed via JSGME that will randomise the playing order?

Thanks

1. Not sure, somebody will know this though.
2. Yes, you can remove these files, just remember to keep a copy of the files you delete in case you want them back.
3. Yes there is a song randomizer, here:http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=111597
It is not JSGME, rather a third party app. Easy to set-up.

I'm fond of the quintessential player (avalable at http://www.quinnware.com/ ) for playing all types of files and it does support ogg. Best of all, it's free.

Thanks Gents; now I just have to find my gramaphone after installing TM and CBS news, etc.

I know it is not a unique issue as I remeber seeing something on a thread or 2.

Seemed to have lost radio Washington as well somehow; but these are something I can sort out.

Thanks again.

Audacity, without a doubt - superb freeware editor which supports .ogg files and, besides being a good audio editor lets you convert between .wmv, .ogg & mp3.

After installing this codec, WMP (and other players) can play ogg's:

Have a look here, it is there in Trigger, just not the image, but it still works
the same :http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...&postcount=919
This is not an example from Trigger, but same principle

CBS may have over written the radio config file, you may have to go in and manually add it back in.

Thanks for the additional pointers, in paricular reallydeadpoet.

Editted the radio.cfg file and as I intend to delete the atmospheric music I did not add the line regarding fade.

And if you really don't like manually editing the files and would like to do a lot with the radio station functions of SH4 take a look at http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=120510

No problemo, RDP. It's totally impossible to remember everything around here because there are so many goodies . Once a week or so, I have to cruise through Excalibur Bane's sticky to make sure I haven't missed anything.

Yeah, good idea, I should be doing the same more often. Excalibur Bane has done a great job with that thread.

The edit worked out fine, and I did not have to touch background music as the TM mod took care of the issue for me.

The only thing that could be tweaked is increasing the volume of the radio comapred to everything else; but that is just being picky.

In the options you ( have not adjusted in awhile ) can turn it up ( radio ), and the other stuff down.
