Where the game engine fails to produce realism, this is where the roleplay comes in

The game engine is now quite oooold (3 1/2 years roughly). I remember the early seabed floor efforts and the fps hit some of them caused, so I should imagine an algae mod could well have a similar detrimental effect. |

Has anybody tried porting this effect from SH4? Stock is a little overdone, but there are mods that tone it down somewhat. |

Just a question...why would you want your scope up that could potentially get damaged from the DC your looking to avoid? (In RL anyway)

Hmmmm. Interesting. Maybe it is my video card and it's ability but depending on factors i.e. the suns position in the sky, region, weather, time of year, I have experienced varying visibility and color variation. Quite realistic I must say. I have played through ever month of every year. In RL with the sun directly above, in clear north sea water, I have seen well in 300m of water without lights, and in the Indian Ocean I have seen well in 4,000 meters. Of course weather will deteriorate viz.

I use SH3 Commander to set the water clarity to 2. I can't see anything underwater at periscope depth.
Well, I can barely make out the bow of my u-boat.:rotfl:

I think I read somewhere that sub commanders would sometimes use the Observation scope for night attacks as it's larger diameter let in more light and so made it easier to see through in low light than the attack scope.

Sorry Dowly... what did you say?
I was too distracted by your signature picture. ![]() Looks like they grow women pretty fine up there in Finland. All those dark nights, right? ![]()

The first thing that I noticed about GWX 3 was just how quickly it gets dark once you're under water. This is a great improvement in my book.
I'd also like it to be pitch black at night on the surface if there's no moon. |
