![]() ![]() Lot of trial and error here, with the emphasis on error. I'm trying to get a logo on a P class conning tower, can't figure out which DDS file is the right one. I read the skinning tutorials, but none of them list what maps where. Tex norm and low res get used according to the graphics quality, or LOD distance? |

the T01 and the T02 are the ones you need to work on. You might try going over to the Battle Flags.net site and downloading one of the fooskins that already have an emblem on them and taking a peek at one of those to see how the whole thing plays out.

Thanks, that helps. Curious thing, I downloaded one of the Porpoise skins and they included a bunch of files that don't appear to be changed? The T01 and T02 both had the same emblem on them, is that the trick? Gotta paint both before it shows up?
I do addons for Microsoft Train Simulator, and for that there's a gadget called Shape Viewer: ![]() So you can look at what you did without having to start the game every time you make a change. Anything similar for SH 4? Taking ten minutes to load and unload the game between brushstrokes, I'm making a career out of trying to figure this out. ![]() |

Sorry for the late reply.. T01 and T02 are the right files. T01 is used for early war, T02 for late war. The other files you are refering to are the O01 etc. files. They do not look changed, but they are. I replaced all alpha layers of the O0? files to match my skins. These alpha layers become vissible when the sun reflect on the side of the sub (best seen during sunset and rise). As far as I know there are no shape viewers for SH4 (yet).. Would be great though.. it takes me a lot of time to draw, start game, exit and start all over again until its good. |

I hope to add model preview to S3D as soon as model import/export is working. Won't be this year!

Export all objects with P3D.
Edit the graphics and view the exported objects with Deep Exploration or other Object viewers. This allows basic editing of skins with out need haveing to load the Game until you are ready for final detail work. very fine FREE viewer!! http://www.softpedia.com/progDownloa...oad-77434.html Last edited by Tsavo; 10-29-07 at 08:31 PM. |
