Hehe, thanks, guys.

Just go ahead and post it, seth!

But what the hell was the matter with this merchant?! It took a LONG time to sink, as you can see by the changes in light, and I hit it six times in various locations! (One dud) Not only that, the sinking sequence is heavily edited, it took another 4-5 game hours to fully sink.

It must have been carrying life wests, or something.

talking for myself: I have never seen such a resistent ship in shiii. It just something supernatural when you pump her full of torpedos, and she still refuses to go down.....
Well, in this case, i'll blame Bernard.... He probably had a summer job at the torpedo factory....

It's the British sub scene from Das Noob. Directed by Safegang Keepersen, it's the #1 u-boat classic we've all come to love. The scene is presented in German with English subtitles.

In this scene, U-96 comes across a British sub crewed by idiots who can't tell U-96 is a German sub! The oppurtunity presents itself for a DEVASTATING attack:arrgh!:!

I`ve just started part two of Bernard and U-Disaster, but his time with text bubbles. Holy cow, its alot of work, I have allready spent the amount of time it usually takes to make a movie (3-4 hours), and I have maybe done one third.

Comedy is harder than action.

HunterICX
09-27-06, 07:01 PM
Comedy is harder because you have to think of something original.
sometimes it makes ur mind go crazy :yep:

stabiz
09-27-06, 07:44 PM
Hehe, that is true, but the real time consumer is the fiddling about to adjust text bubbles. Damn you, bubbles!

HunterICX
09-28-06, 04:11 AM
yeah , the bubbles, you make one, and then ur typping in it ...and then...the bubble seems a bit too small:damn: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!
BERNAAAAAAARD!!!

stabiz
09-28-06, 04:33 AM
Its bad in photos - but worse in video - since I have to insert text in fixed bubbles, and the text does not follow the bubbles if I edit somewhere else. This way everything goes out of sync every time I do something. *will not kill myself, will not kill myself*

In using Microsoft's Movie Maker, how do I make proper end credits that scroll up without a lot of space between the lines. I have a lot to put in. So can anyone explain to me how it is done properly so I don't muck it up?

I have a suggestion for a new movie....I could make it myself, but im having my first exam in psychology this week, so i have to read....

Anyway, here it goes....

Preface:

Dowly was sitting with his computer, playing SH3 and writing stuff on the subsim forum. He had found a great sh3 addon, and was about to inform the others on the forum about this finding. Just as he pressed his "submit reply" button, he realizes that he had mentioned the bittorrent-site where this download could be found... "Perkele", he said, " i have to remove this before Gizzmoe sees it!"
But he was too late. Gizzmoe had seen Dowlys bad, bad post, and just as he pressed the "delete" button, Dowly pressed the "edit" button. This action created a mysterious timegap between Dowlys SH3 game and the subsim-forums, and he suddenly found himself (with four other subsim-members) on the deck of a submarine in Kiel......
************************************************** *********
It was a calm and sunny day in the port of Kiel. A german submarine was ready to go, when suddely a bright light appeared beside it. When the crew got their eyesight back, they spotted five strange looking men standing on the deck of their U-boat. One of the strangers (the one with the pink hat) suddenly draw a luger, and threaten the five officers to leave the vessel. Then the Strangers took over the sub, and headed for the great, blue ocean....

************************************************** *********

I hope someone would like to make a movie out of this (or something similar)!
And, no, i haven't been smoking anything weird.... :rotfl::rotfl:

No disrespect to the people mentioned!

I have a suggestion for a new movie....I could make it myself, but im having my first exam in psychology this weekNice field, psychology. Good luck:up:.

Maybe it's way too much to ask from one-to-ten minutes long movies, but I feel that having some different characters with diverse personalities in them would greatly add to the experience (like with the Bernard movies).

SubSerpent
10-01-06, 07:47 PM
That's a bit hard to do with this sim though Safe-Keeper since there is no scripting of the characters on the U-boats. All we can do is select one f-up and diss him in our movies! There was one movie posted by Rob (not sure if he made it) that had vocals and good camera work in it for each crewmen onboard. It felt a bit too Star Trek though!

SubSerpent
10-01-06, 07:51 PM
Outstanding Vids BTW lately Stabiz!

WoW, your latest Bernard movie must have taken forever with all those captions! Geez!

I've been busy with school as well! I'm seeking my degree in IT/Networking & Security Management at a Technology college. I too have to take psychology and a bunch of other criminal justice classes for this degree!

I will try to find time to make a video every now and then, but they are a bit time consuming to make (even the short ones)

_Seth_
10-02-06, 12:50 AM
I realize the difficulties with this idea...It would have been rather cool, though.....
Too bad SH3 cant be scripted as easy as "operation Flashpoint"... Just some modifications to a .ini file, and there you go! Anyone remember
"player in jeepOne : jeepOne setfuel 1" or "init= this inflame true"?
Thats easy scripting......
(No disrespect to SH3)

OK Stabiz, I just saw your MegaMix. Awesome stuff. I think you need to send that to the SH4 Devs, and maybe they could send you the Beta version so you could make future trailers for them. I think you have the talent, and could mean $$$$$$$$$ for you. Who knows.

Please keep up the good work, and can't wait to see the sequel to Bernard. I will check 'er out now.

The new Ensign was assigned to subs, where he'd dreamed of working since a young boy.

He was trying to impress the Master Chief with his expertise learned in Submarine School.

The Master Chief cut him off quickly and said, "Listen, 'sir', it's real simple. Add the number of times we dive to the number of times we surface. Divide that number by two. If the result doesn't come out even, don't open the hatch." :yep:

I think we have to collect some money, and arrange the "SHIII Oscar Awards"!

There are a lot of good videos out there, but Stabiz is currently the most productive one. His storys also shows the nerve-wrecking tension the u-boat crews must have felt during WWII. Personally, i think he needs some competition, so all you others, dont just sit there, make your own movies and post them!
If you go to UBRS, you will find that Terrapin has placed links to all of Stabiz 25(!) films, so dont waste you time; Watch them! They are really good!

***A GOOD FIX***
I was fighting with this problem for months and finally found a good fix. This is what I did:
1. Use the uninstaller at Adobe's Web site following the instructions given here: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157 (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157)
2. Empty temporary files and internet cache and restart.
3. Download the latest FlashPlayer version 9 from Adobe's web site here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash)

At this point check and be sure that you have a file named "Flash.ocx" in both your Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 and Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash folders, as well as the "Flash9.ocx" in the Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash folder. If you do, you have a good install.

4. Download Flash8.ocx from www.rrdownloads.net/Flash.zip (http://www.rrdownloads.net/Flash.zip) (I'm sure this file must be buried on Adobe's site somewhere, but I couldn't find; nonetheless, this is a safe link)
5. Unzip the active x file into your Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash folder
6. In the same Windows folder, rename "Flash9.ocx" to Flash-9.ocx (or anything else)
7. Then rename the Flash8.ocx (from the downloaded zip file) to Flash9.ocx

Restart et voila ... no more crash errors.

Also be sure you have Sun's Java J2SE Runtime Environment 5, Update 7 installed and any Pop Up or Ad Blockers turned off ... sometimes these will interfere in viewing flash content.

Caution: This fix has worked for me on a WinXP Pro and WinXP Home O/S, running IE6. I cannot vouch for any others. I hope it works for you!

Stabiz. Can you make a movie out of one of my missions or are they too short? :hmm:

I was going to! Haha, spooky that you asked, since I played the four missions in your GW pack last night. I was recording and smoking cigarettes - the way of the stabiz - when I suddenly died several times. I guess I am a bit out of practice with attacking convoys.

Making vids and attacking single targets - or evading destroyers - can be quite easy when you get used to it, you just go through the motions and kinda survive, but attacking convoys and recording is far more difficult IMO, since alot is happening at the same time. (Damn you, Bernard! I told you to lower the periscope!)

I have done it, but I dont think convoy attacks are as cool to watch as they are to DO.

I was actually planning to ask you to make a mission, since the mission editor is alien and evil. :damn:

Anyway, my humble request is this:

Could you make a mission where I can attack a large battleship or carrier amidst icebergs?

It would also be nice if the mission had some aircrafts to chew away on before attacking the big beast amongst the bergs. I just think this would look nice on "tape". It would also be nice if the carrier/battleship was lightly/moderately defended by escorts.

My second request is a big one, and dont say yes before you check out the facts. (If you dont know them, that is). I have long been thinking of reenacting Priens attack on Scapa in detail, and I mean detail. I would love to do everything exactly as he did.

Puhh ... feels like I have written alot now.

So, can you help me out? (with the iceberg-thingy)

WilhelmSchulz.
10-30-06, 05:09 PM

Stabiz - Your videos never cease to amaze me. They always give a feeling of watching a film. The camo skin on that type IX really gives it a feeling of being a predator out hunting it's prey.

One question: Do you use some sort of mod for the shell and torp hits? I run Grey Wolves and just get a little black smudge and that's it. Your hits look so much more powerful and impressive.

Glad you like `em!

Yes, I use Anzacmicks damage textures. They "hide" one of the shortcomings of SH3:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=98481&highlight=anzacmick

Compatible with GW, by the way. All the mods I use(d) are listed at the end of the video.

Now ... if anybody could make the crew climb on and off the bridge in stead of just appearing and disappearing ... (Impossible, I guess)

Oh ... and the awesome skin is Danlisas IXC winter camo:

The only video I have in the making right now is "U-Disaster 3: Who`s telling Dönitz?", which is alot of work, but that one is going slow because of technical difficulties. (My n00bness in sh3 inspector) Hopefully Mr. Fleck will come to the rescue soon.

I have ideas for more "serious" stuff, but I`m gonna wait for GWX, I think. (Except something AGV Warhawk got me doing)

Hi stabiz,

what exactly do you want to change with Timetravellers SH3 Mini Tweaker? Do you want to change the abilities of your u-boat? If so, for example to do the jumps in the Dolphin movie I had to change the speed of the boat, the power of the E-Maschinen, the power of the diesels etc. You can do this with Timetravellers tool. You simply open the boat configuration you want to modify e.g. for Type VIIC (NSS_Uboat_7c_zon.txt) and change the values you want. With the tool you choose via a drop down "Diesel propulsion" and than you change the values "max_speed" and "eng_power" for a faster boat. If you save a value Timetravellers tool writes the value directly into the corresponding file, which means after you start SH3 again the values are changed.

You can pm me if you need some help. Or tell me what the boat should do and I could take a look and see which values have to be modified.

Bye
Mr. Fleck

Its a shame there can only be one smoke colour at the time in SH3, cause that light smoke you use look really good when coming from funnels.
