Hehe, thanks, guys! Its the vanilla Narvik single mission. I used Ulead Videostudios 9 for editing, and fraps for capturing. Ulead is great for n00bs like me, its just a notch more complicated than Windows Moviemaker, but has much cooler effects.

I am making another as we speak, since I went to visit Caracua last night. :D

:yep: I Did have some movies of SH3 , But last October my Vidcard died and Formatation was needed (other problems with my PC)

I used Fraps the new version (cant remember the numbers lol, long time ago)
and used as an editor program Adobe Premiere (the shop installed that one as an sort of free ware for purchasing an new vidcard)

they where really nice movies but..thats lost.:cry:
But the vids you showed us just makes me feel like picking it up again.
but...first i need to clean up my HD only have 9 Gigs left :o need to uninstall some games I dont play anymore...

so maybe soon I'll show you guys my Sub Rampage moments ...and maybe a nice story line too :P maybe...but really maybe I will use Voice overs :) I I got a nice Voice morphing program that makes my voice heavier, robotic, little child or woman like lol

I would love to see other videos, especially some from GW, as my computer crashdives every time I try using fraps with GW. It doesn`t just stutter, as it does with other games on high settings, it litterally craps up, and I have to restart using the power button. :cry:

I'm impressed. Thank you for sharing that...it was a pleasure watching it. Though...I would have used variations in musical theme not just the Valkyrie for the entire lenght of the movie. Try to play with the music a little in order to obtain the maximum effect. I'm very good at audio editing (but not video at all) I used to work in an audio studio. If you want, in the next movie you make, I will try to do the music job, and then you just put together the audio and video.

I have a PNY GeForce 7800 GTX, AMD Athlon 64 3800+ with an ASUS A8N8 SLI Premium board and 2 GB RAM (Corsair Twinx2048-3200C2). With SH III I have about 80 to 100 FPS (with anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering activated) The frame rate can drop significantly when recording, e.g. in harbours down to 20 fps. But it's sufficient for me.

Nice vid, hunter. A couple of questions:

Do you record at full screen with fraps? If so, you can change it to half screen in the fraps menu, it will give you way less megabytes to worry about. This gives you better quality when you upload to a site. (Youtube allows 100 megabytes per vid, by the way)

And where did you find that version of lux aeterna?! I love that version, its the same as they used in the Lord of the Rings promos! Gimme, gimme!

Finally ... :rotfl:Poor sub crew, I have actually never seen something like that before. What was the hull integrety after the crash?

no I meant the English version. If you upload movies to youtube, they get converted to a smaller size with some (and sometimes even significant) quality loss. Some people like to download movies in better quality, so for this audience the rapidshare link obove would do. But it's not necessary. If you got time you can put the link on your page, it if not, no problem at all.

For the German version I will create a youtube account and will upload it (but next week, since I'm offline for some days)

Good stuff! What editing program do you use? I dont know how to start a vid with black screen and only text, I haven`t figured it out in Ulead 9, anyway.

Tip: Never record at night. I found out that the vids somehow get a bit darker when you post them at youtube. (Didn`t work to increase brightness in the editing program either, it looked like **** when I tried that :rotfl:)

:rotfl:I didn`t see ONE plane in the entire patrol, and even if you miss out on the planes, shouldn`T they at least damage the boat a bit? I am using Grey Wolves, and never see any planes.

Windows Movie Maker

Open Windows Media Maker. Open your project. Click on 'Tools'. Click on 'Titles and credits'. Click on 'Add credits at end of movie'. Enter your credits in the fields. Select an animation to use. Test and work with it. It can be a real b..ch! :yep:

Note: Remember, the longer you stretch the field at the bottom of the 'play sequence' the slower the credits will scroll.

Difficult to explain. Then I have to make all the movie clips sounds the same level and then I have to add my music.

Do the steps that I said in my above post. Once you click on 'Done' the credits will appear at the very end of your movie. Simply click on the box that was created and drag it over the section of the movie that you want it to be displayed at. It will automatically play the movie in the background and your credits will scroll up the screen. If you want the credits to go slowly scroll up the screen stretch that box across a larger portion of your movie down at the bottom of the screen in the sequence area.

Work with it Rob. I had never used Movie Maker before I made "The Last Hunt" and I taught myself in a few hours of trying different things out and constantly playing the movie within Movie Maker to make sure that things lined up with the music just right. Just toy with it for awhile and test different things out to see what looks and feels best for you. Every movie maker has their own style so you won't ever really know how good yours is until you present it to the world. I am not all that impressed by my movie honestly, but that is because I can see my flaws a bit more clearly than anyone else since I was the originator of my film. If you end up making a movie and people say they don't like it and rate it badly, just try again and use their suggestions and comments as a basis for support on your next film.

I think my biggest mistake that I made with my movie was that I rushed it because I wanted to put something out there. I spent more time on the opening and ending and not enough on the middle. Granted that the middle is the hardest part to fill with Silent Hunter III since it is so limited content wise. You can't script the crew members to walk around the U-boat(s) or talk about various things like you could with lets say Operation Flashpoint with a much more indepth mission editor and script editor. So use the beginning of your film to capture your audience - the middle can be somewhat bland but not too bland, and have a fairly powerful ending to give them something to remember you movie by.

Notice how at the end of my video the U-boat hit the Nelson with a torpedo but it never showed it sinking. I then went straight to the credits after that to make people think that the movie was over. But at the end of the credits you finally get to see that the Bismark survived (that was the ship that I had my camera under) and at the very very very end you see the Nelson on its way down to the bottom in the dark murky waters at quite a fast pace since you would assume a Battleship could travel up to 100knots or more as it sank down to the bottom, gravity pushing her faster and faster downwards until she hit rock bottom. <---Just like the Titanic they assume must have been doing nearly 60-80 knots as she sank down 2.5 miles under.

Hi SubSerpent: I've made a goof. I've put text in over some scenes and I find I have to remove all texts now because when I put in the transitions, the texts are out of order. So I need to erase all text. How do I do that?

Hi SubSerpent: I've made a goof. I've put text in over some scenes and I find I have to remove all texts now because when I put in the transitions, the texts are out of order. So I need to erase all text. How do I do that?

Yeah, he talks about the cpu/RAM slowdown when you enter ports. Fraps steals quite a bit of cpu power, and the little that is left really has to work in harbours.

Your frames per second obviously dropped dramatically from being on the open water and then entering the port. Your CPU and video card show their age here or you have too much AA and AF on in your graphics card settings. Try tweaking your graphics card to lower your image quality settings. This will reduce image quality somewhat but it will improve your overall performance. Remember, eye candy is nice but performance is nicer!

For future video releases that you make, try not to use the mouse cursor in the video as much as possible. It takes away from the "movie" and makes it look more like a game demonstration. Try using "hot keys" instead.

The mouse cursor was a mistake in using the camera, too excited, too many things.

I don't know how to tweak my graphics card and I cann't afford to buy a new one and I have a Seanix Pentium 4. Bought it 2 years ago. My card is GeForce 660 I think and upgraded after the game quit loading in U-51's 44th mission. So whatever graphics I get will have to do, I guess.

I was testing my "No-Win Scenario" scenario, and I heard this loud explosion from one of the British ships hunting me. Switching to external view (hey, I was play-testing, I need it:oops:), I saw a destroyer in flames. While taking in the hulk, I noticed this huge piece of debris flying through the air some distance away. I thought it was a doomed aircraft, but it turned out to be a torpedo boat. My theory is that it collided with the DD and was "flipped" into the air by it. Or maybe I hit it with a torpedo (I fired a spread of them at random into the horde of British warships, and I was creditted with sinking 1000 tonnes of British warship post-mission:-?).

But anyway, she's one light-weight, sturdy ship. First, she's thrown 100 feet into the air, then, when she hits the water again--

I prefer to stay with youtube.com with my current and future movie releases. It is a good site for folks with broadband connections (I'm sorry dial-up, but it's time to face the future) and doesn't require any risky downloaded files that may have potential viruses added to them. What a night of failures for me. I bought the registered version of Fraps and everytime I try to record with it SH3 dies horribly and nothing is recorded. Just total GPF crash of SH3.

Anyone know how to get SH3 + Fraps working?

I did have the resolution fix on the install I was trying, so I renamed the DLL, and it STILL crashed. Tonite I'll try actually removing the DLL fix totally and see what happens.

The worrisome thing though is that it crashed EVE Online as well, which doesn't have any kind of DLL fix in place. Same sort of thing, as soon as I pressed the 'record video' button the game client just disappeared. It ended up locking up my machine mostly, I had to manually kill every process running just to reboot.

I had to reinstall SH3 to make it work.

I removed all three of the resolution files, d3d9.dll, the cfg file and the database compability file it'd created and it just recorded fine. Even worked in EVE, so I'm thinking that the first time I tried it the resolution fix screwed up FRAPS somehow, which is why it didn't work at all. Of course I never tried restarting FRAPS! :)

All seems good now though, so far.

I asked stabiz to view them earlier because I wanted his comments. He gave me some pointers.

However, I'm on my third patrol and there is lots of aircraft action again, and yep, I got my cursor in the way a couple times. It's too bad I get so excited and forget. I wish there was some way to edit the parts which have the cursor in it.

And I did it again stabiz, too much aircraft and not enough splits. I even forgot how to get the planes in the air, so you'll see my cursor pointing on the planes trying to get them to show on screen, stupid idiot, press the period button, oops oh yeah:rotfl: Anyway, thats in the third patrol coming up next week some time.

I hope you enjoy my second patrol movie. Don't be too critical, but constructive comments are welcome.

I have commented on this before to rob, but can anyone with more know-how explain the distorted sounds in his vids? Rob has not changed the audio levels. And look at the smoke textures of the burning planes too, there is something odd there.

Well, Patrol 3 is all documented on film (hope I can fix the parts I goofed on) It was interesting: downed 6 planes, sunk Tribal DD, used deck gun to destroy Coastal Merchant and a small merchant. Sunk a C3 Cargo, a Passenger Liner and a River DE. Oh, all the sinkings were in rough sea, pouring rain and heavy fog. It'll be interesting to see how this film turns out.
