Patrol 10. Saturday April 17, ‘43 to AK37. She receives a message regarding a large enemy convoy and heads to intercept. She attacks the convoy and ends up severely damaged. As soon as possible, when it is safe to do so, she surfaces and heads back to St. Nazaire, arriving on June 21, ‘43. She sunk 1 merchant - 9128 tonnes and 1 Destroyer (Somers) and 1 Destroyer Escort (Evart’s DE) - 3042 tonnes. Her hull was really bad. She did not go to AK37 to complete her required patrol. Rolf Wittenberg was promoted from Bootsmann to Stabsbootsmann. The merchant she sunk was a T3 Tanker. Hull Integrity was 40%. If she hadn’t been so badly damaged, she would have continued her patrol as she had 10 bow torpedoes and 2 + 2 stern torpedoes left

The reason it's short is that there were two persistent escort that kept the Devil away from the convoy and the convoy gets away. Because the two escorts, a River Destroyer Escort and a Hunt II destroyer kept coming at U-107, but they stayed a certain distance away and never reduced their speed, U-107 could not get a shot at them and I decided to break it off.

Yes, that's correct, but he made a new account and put some back. I'm sorry, but I don't know what name he used. I had the same thing happen to me, I had my account cancelled because I uploaded a video longer than 10 min, so I started a new account and made sure my vids were no longer than 10 minutes, and have had no problems since. I thought that applying for a "Director" permitted the longer length videos and was told they don't do that anymore. :cry:

In my movies the scenes are staged, I'm not able to record all from one mission alone. This is where you are the master at documenting patrols!

I also modified the actors (S-Boat, hurricanes, cruiser) with skwasjers 'Silent 3ditor', to change hit points, hit zones, etc.

GWX was installed with S-Boat mod on top. Without GWX the hurricanes look very 'plain' if I recall correctly.

Hello Rob,

actually its the oposite, not "underboot" but "Uberboot" (which translates to superior boat). It is Mush Martins creation of a planned but never launched boat (by the Kriegsmarine) with quite some punch when you consider the guns. So Mush Martins mod puts you in command of this boat. You definitely have some fun with it, but its not intended for the realism oriented player.

Why would F1 Management want YouTube to ban anyone uploading movies of their product? Doesn't make any sense to me. If that is the case, YouTube should publish a warning that they will ban any movies made with F1. IMHO.

If I may share two vids of mine on youtube and please be kind. (I think I might have shown the first vid before; please forgive me if I did.)

The first Vid is my first attempt with windows movie maker and YouTube. It was made to attempt to capture the "feel" of what it was like to sail aboard a U-Boat.
(For all you astute sub players I did not realize at the time that the strange looking sky was a conflict with the atmosphere mod. So the sky has an eerie apocalyptic feel.)

My second video also isn't perfect; but I do enjoy making videos of Silent Hunter 3. This video was suppose to capture the feel of a silent movie. There is a little conflict between the two vids as both or Patrol 1. The sad fact is that my PC crashed in between the making of the first vid and another vid I was half way finished with and could not continue. So I just decided to start over. Here's my second vid. Excellent tutorial should be in the beginners section but I didn't see it. I would love to see a similar quality demo for how to use escape and evade tactics. I always seem to find these tutorials are always using one slow moving target that doesn't zig zag. Are there any tutorials that take it beyond the basics of engaging a single target?

Wow, I usually use the plotter, but on today's patrol I tried the manual course setting (still not cool enough to erase the boat though) and yikes, you can go wildly off course over the span of even a few hours in a storm...

Can anyone recommend an area which will have a lot of single or double ship traffic, but no bombers. I seen to have problems attacking convoys. Those escorts are getting pretty darn good. I was luck to get away from the one I attacked. The U-107 got pretty banged up. I expect my next patrol will be in April 1944.

I think the voices of the pilots are a good idea, they add to the atmosphere.

Just a suggestion: You could have cut the scenes with the attacks a bit faster. What I mean is: Show a short scene where the aircraft attacks, then switch to the sub, showing maybe bullets hitting the water, switch back to the plane, maybe show details like firing guns, again back to the sub showing the flak firing etc. In case of an attack, things should happen fast. I think a single scene shold not be too long. But thats just my personal opinion.

Unfortunately my present health only allows me to play for an hour.

For the last part I have decided to not put in the actual aircraft attack itself, only the introduction that there is one. I want to put in only ship sinking if I can ever find them in BF16 or BF13.

I have a strange feeling that I will be attacked by aircraft a lot, don't know why I have such a strange feeling :rotfl:

Additional - 7 views for Part 5 is not very much since one of thise was mine. If I'm not getting viewers, then maybe I just will not take the trouble in making any more movies. I'm currently in Juy 1944. I went to the Canary Island and didn't find any merchants. Now I'm going down the coastline of Africa to Freetown in hopes of finding merchants along the way.

I'm beginning to think my trip is a waste of time.

I'm looking for single merchants, because the last time I attacked a convoy in '44 I was almost destroyed.

Also, for the increase of FpS, which graphical option should be disabled, volumetric fog seems the most demanding for my graphics card. Any suggestions?

What is SubsimMachFest? It is our very own short film festival! Welcome to the second Annual Subsim Machinima Short Video Festival. Contenders for the awards will be posted on http://au.youtube.com/user/SubsimMachFest I'm looking for the best 7 minute machinima videos containing a submarine that you can create.

Being Subsim we need a theme for our vid fest and of course it is submarines. It doesn't matter if you don't use a sub sim to make your vid but in the 7 minutes you have to include at least one submarine whether it is simulated or otherwise.

I checked and a PRS Licence will cost me anywhere from 300 pound up to 2,000 pounds per year. I can't afford that!

I had a complete computer breakdown in 2009 and my hard drive had to be sent to Toronto to see if they could retrieve any data. Well I was informed that they could retrieve all the data, except a few odds and ends. The cost was $1000. Well, my whole life was on that hard drive so I told them to go ahead. Today, while checking SH3 Commander, I noticed that I had U-51 available. I checked, and sure enough she had done 6 patrols as a VIIC. You will notice that my signature say "Gone but not forgotten, file corrupted after 44th patrol. Well I can start over agsin, That's great. :yeah:

I'll have to get my friend to remove the purple writing from my signature.
