Hi. I don't know. Is it so necessary? The cargo file from my modpack takes 449 KB. From WAC 5.0 cargo file takes 14 MB...

A possible workaround for that... Offer the wac cargo up as a, say.. add on mod pack, with your work. Which then leaves it up to the individual to ad it in or not.. :hmmm: entirely the users choice. Thereby freeing you up to not include it in your own set up.. if you so chose to not want to.
As for Me, I kind of lighten the load, with just keeping the English text & keep the German voices from it. At least the last version of your SH3 GWX set up, that is.. am working on grabbing the latest one, as is.

For my part, I deeply think that when you order an uboat you have to have German as well as when this one is Russian you have to speak in Russian and so on ... more the work of Alex it's been a long time I am his work ... besides the prices we are distributing but except to him ...:ping:

If by that, you're meaning of having both German text, as well as the voices.. I, for 1 would tend to agree... that is, with the caveat.. if you can read as well as understand verbally, German. :yep:

As for me German voices are for atmosphere. Player has a duplicate text on English/Russian. This is enough to play this game. However I really want to add a german localization but I can't translate all files because I don't speak German. And I don't see German players who want comletely translate all text into German language (including radio messages)...

Alex, One little problem came up when playing my first careen in Onealex V1.46...
Started new career in Flotilla Weddigen /Sep 1939 - Departed Sep01 and returned to Kiel Sep29. So far no problems. When I am back in the SH3 Commander main menu, I click on "Click For available action" menu and then on the first option "Update your personnel File" and this message pops up:

This never happened to me in any other prior versions.... Any ideas? How can this be solved in order to se the patrol log and all the info of the patrol? What could be the reason of this malfunction and why? I am doing everything exactly as I used to do in V1.45, V1.44, V1.43 and so on... :hmmm:

Hi. Looks like SH Commander bug. I haven't changed SC Commander in my latest version. Try to delete your old file in directory C:\Documents\Personnel Files\SH3. And after that try again.

Alex, Is there a chance to have the gyro compass in VIIC conning towers? I know the IX 1,2 and 3 have them but not the towers for the VIIC. :hmmm:

Is there a way to increase the number of depth charges carried by escorts? Because right now (end of '39) they run out of depth charges after an hour or so and then they just follow you without dropping anything.

Has anyone got mousewheel zoom working for the external Ship Camera (key <) view?
It's a proper 'telephoto' zoom, not like moving the camera in/out with cursor arrow keys which produces a distorted perspective, close in.
No amount of checking the keys are set in commands-eng.cfg or swapping in camera.dat, .val or camerabehaviour/cameramanager files seems to make any difference at all.

16. Wolfpack Mod (h.sie: programming and LGN1: idea) When you find a convoy, you should inform BDU about details. Thus, roughly estimate the convoy's course and speed and put these two values into the two TDC dials "Bearing" and "Speed" (German: Zielrichtung & Gegnerfahrt). If the convoy is heading north, set course to 0°, if it's heading east, set course to 90° and so on. Then, press 'M' key in order to send the contact report. You'll see these two values for course and speed in the contact report. SH3 no more calculates them for you. It's your job now. After some time, you'll receive a response from BDU. If no other Uboats are available, you'll be ordered to attack alone. If other Uboats 6are available, BDU will order you to shadow the convoy and send contact reports every hour, if possible. (Note: Time between two reports isn't allowed to be lower than 55 minutes). Your speed and course estimations are necessary to lead the wolfpack into the operation area to intercept the convoy. The time between your first contact report and the wolfpack attack depends on the initial distance between the Uboats and the convoy. During shadowing, you'll get some orders from BDU. Follow these instructions. But sometimes BDU messages get lost or come too late - chaos, as in real life. If the wolfpack reaches the operation area, BDU will wait for good attack conditions (dark and no fog) and then order to attack. Then, some time later, the convoy battle (hopefully) begins. Torpedoes with magnetic pistols have dude probability of 25% until june 1942 even if torpedo depth is set correctly...

If you didn't, you want to set the depth a little more than the minimum via the H.sie calculation. I.e., in your example of 2.8, set the torpedoes to 3 or slightly more not right at 2.8, and as said, early war failures come into play too.

Believe me I try many things,simply I don't get it...only to turn off torpedo failure fix in H sie settings

There is a failure rate until 1942, as was the case historically. How often is this happening and are you sure it's a depth problem or could it be simply missing the target all together ?

Too much for early war,4 torpedo in a row at the most important moment(my set torpedo depth was from 2,8 to 4 even,nothing ,passing under keel about 2 metters)
Plenty test have been made with different torpedoes . Also I have a lot of streams on my YouTube channel. There are no bugs with dud torpedoes. As an advice in early war use TI torpedo and impact pistol.

I am having some lag issues with Onealex...
It is really weird, literally everything except the surface view in Onealex gets well over 200 fps. When I am on the bridge or viewing things on the surface, however, I get only 15-20 fps.
I have tried shutting off Vsync and changing my modlist around. But it isn't working.
Here is my modlist:

Convoy-Routes on Map - BL!TZKR!EG Edition
Higher Air Strike Probability
Music For YouTube

LAA* = Large Address Aware (can google search for it then d/l-install it, just remember where you installed it so as to be able to find it. Me, I installed it to desktop.
Maybe see of using LAA*, with it, perhaps.. if you aren't already doing so.

I will listen OneAlex offcourse,He doing very good job in modding,bring us players other nicer side of Sh3....
I will wait for a while in my mission(Invasion of Norway right now) set torpedo,don t engage large convoy until torpedoes become better,maybe T3 torp.is solution...I will try my best

Is there any way to increase FPS with this mod? I would like to try and see if I can fix it. I got the computer to use 10 gigs of its 16 gig RAM, but its still pretty laggy so I am looking for ways to increase FPS.

I try it but corrupt save....I saved 3 times and later when i have to load it

In the English Channel there are many units and ports. When you make a save you should remember about safe distance from any unit/port. But the best way is to return for example to AN84 and make saves there because inside the English Channel saving is very risky

good evening yes as Alex said avoid saving less than 50 km from the coast ... not in bad weather ... no contacts on the map ... or there is no bottom ... I have already had your backup problems believe me .... :D

On my PC there are no issues with saves when bad weather. I think you should never mind on weather conditions.

How would I update the game? I just did it the way I thought it would work and I completely messed up SH3 commander and my .exe. Now it won’t use the save game folder I made for it originally and it wants me to make a new one for it. It also deleted my old Captain and so now I have to make a new one and go through the naval academy all over again.
Thank You Again, ONEALEX. This mod is by far the "King of the Hill"

That appears to be the engine exhaust, and in SH4 that can happen when shelling out to Windows while the game is running. Another anomaly might be a tower of steam following the player sub about. The "cure" is to Save the game (using proper SH3 Save technique), exit the game, re-start it, then load the saved game. After that, don't shell out to Windows while playing the game. If it goes away after you save, exit, return, then that is the problem.

I decided to test the game. Began the campaign in April 1941. Patrolled the grid near Rockall Bank and decided to get away from the planes to the BE grid. On the way sank a single ship then reconnaissance reported on the convoy but it was going far from the position of the u-boat in the opposite direction. Ignoring the convoy. I walked a couple of tens of miles and again a radio message, in grid BE6200 a task force! Cource right at me. Intercept course. Night. 2 large cruisers. First was Hood. Speed 19-20 knots. Distance 1000 m. Impossible to miss! Contact pistol 4/4 hits! Left unndetected ...

This is a british destroyer created by the_frog. I thought myself that the rear turret was facing the wrong direction, but I found historical pictures showing this same disposition... I don't have them, but you can find them with Google.

It's probably a J-class destroyer (very common in SH3). All these pictures show the rear turret facing the bow, so this is not an error from the_frog :

I´m trying this mod and at first sight it looks awesome, both gameplay and graphics. I´m playing - mainly - SH4 FOTRSU and SH5 TWoS, but I want to play some campaign with the old reliable SH3, so here I am.
I have some questions:
- I noted the mod don´t have full interiors. Is there some way to add the interiors mod without provoke a mess with the mod? I played SH3 with full interiors for years, and I miss it.
- I started a new campaign via Commander. I put with the emerging SH3Weather app some gale for sea, clouds partial, no fog, no rain. But when I started the campaign (Kiel, April 1941), I had heavy clouds, heavy rain, full fog, and heavy seas (it could be "gale", though). And the crewmen on deck didn´t have heavy weather clothes, as should be for this weather. Is this a normal behaviour or am I missing something when starting Commander and the emerging Weather app? (I can live with this problem, but really I miss the full interiors).

I believe the default when you get on the boat, & this also applies to going from good, clear weather, to rough stormy seas & rain... is the crew are not in foul weather gear... unless you're submerged & surface into that kind of weather.. so the crew will show up in it, in that instance... otherwise... you'll have to either do a submerge & quick resurface... or manually move the guys from the bridge, into the sub & then back out on to the bridge to get them into foul weather gear... I generally find doing the quick submerge/surface to be the less painful option.
On the other question, pertaining to full interior.. am going to defer to someone else responding to that part...

I have a powerful PC (but not an SpaceX or NASA computer). Perhaps the interiors will not be a problem for me. Can I activate the full interiors mod with JSGME or it is a mess? Last year I tried WAC 5 with interiors and it worked well, more than 60 FPS in ports (fixed in 30 FPS with Nvidia Inspector.

I have just made a fairly quick tour .. I confirm the saying of Komundo .. I have the same thing ... 30 to 75 Fps at wediggen .. I even allowed myself to dive into the port .. Kiel & Wilhem ... I reloaded my campaign without problem .. no Ctd I went to the museum without problem ...
4-5mn of loading ... but I walked around in impeccable ...
Types II I had no problem with the keyboard shortcuts.. but the engine animation of the machines did not work ..
Types VII see screens .. the few graphic problems....
put the machine room to work impeccably ...
now it's a first turn of the wheel .. to see further ..
I did not all test ... these interiors are great !!! thank you to the creators! ... I believe that Alex should put them in options for those who want it .. HAWKER HURRICANE...Most dangerous aeroplane in the whole game,very good speed,dive,armament,devastating cannon,maybe and missiles in the late war ....I ' m in Mediterranean campaign near Malta,during the day good weather must submerged quickly...2 times my sub is sunk while I try to shoot down them

Check your Windows video settings, especially if you have Windows 10. Match the monitor's 'native' resolution with the video card in the Windows Display Settings dialog. Windows will show it as "(recommended)". Another place to look is the SH3 Properties page. In the game folder, right-click on the SH3.exe file, and on the resultant context menu, choose "Properties". Click on the "Compatibility" tab. You might have to tick the "Disable fullscreen optimizations", and then after clicking the "Change high DPI settings" button, you might have to tick the top box under the "Program DPI" section for "Use this setting to fix scaling problems for your program instead of the one in Settings". You don't need to do the "Open Advanced scaling settings", but there is a drop-down box about the middle of that window, and set that to "I open this program". Make certain the bottom box is ticked, and that "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:" is set to "Application" in that drop-down box. Recent Winddows 10 updates changed all of my computers settings and made it to where Windows was attempting to make my game look better by scaling and smoothing the display, which creates strangeness, such as flickering on my screen, and was so bad on another computer that the game would fail to start. Your mileage of course may vary, and you might end up with slightly different settings than mine, but I had to do a lot of experimenting with this computer to get things working OK for SH3 again. :salute:

I have no problem with the loading screen ...! me the problem is simply graphic .. :ping::ping:
It is undoubtedly values "CR.dat" that must be regulated with S3D by correcting certain files anyway certain thing asks to be reviewed ... in these interiors which are very pretty which one asks for a phenomenal work:/\\!!:/\\!! to be carried out .. especially the engine room ... it just needs to be finished we have to review the lighting .. the shadows .. which in some places does not work well ... a few odds and ends .. again ..:agree:
but for that you have to ask the designer of this great mod ... Mikhayl & Tomi_99 HanSolo78, Flakmonkey who are formidable modders of the times ... :up: :yep::yep:

Alex, one question, why some ships do not show their class name when clicking on them in the F5 map? An example is the Cimarron and many others, both military and cargo, same happens with some airplanes, such as the Catalina... Is there a way to fix this? Thanks for the reply :salute:

Hartroff, I have had this issue with my one computer that still runs Win7. I thought I tried everything to fix this. Then this morning I read ONEALEX's post above, and found the solution, fixing my "Cannot initalize 3d engine" issue. I changed my SCREEN REFRESH RATE from 1920x1080 59hertz to 1920x1080 60hertz. I would start SHIII via SHCommander, only to get the "Cannot initalize 3d engine" message. My workaround was to start SHIII after changing my resolution down to 1024x768. SHIII would start and play fine regardless of my Mega Mod or WSGUI. After this adjustment, SHIII starts perfectly in 1920x1080 with no error messages. Not sure why, but none of my other computers have experienced this error. They all just happen to run WIN10. I never though the OS mattered and that it must be something not set correctly. That was it. Thanx again ONEALEX.

Can report that 'High Noon' gauge issue... has been notated, in SH4.. which is built on the bones of SH3...
I recently ran into that exact issue... (in SH4) & docking & starting a new patrol managed to clear that up.. so, NOT all, is lost n your old career... should you still have it available to continue... :yep: :up:
Try that & see if it doesn't clear out the gauges, stuck at 'High Noon', for you.. & report back, if ya will, Sir. :shucks:

This is very interesting. When I continue my saved games, no matter which save file I choose to load, my u-boat goes down to deep see until see bed, then a collusion and I am loosing my all crew. End of the game. This is happening for two different career.

Deep gauge shows 130 meter but in fact, I was sailing on surface. Low panel deep gauge shows my real level as 5-6 meters. I think my U-boat is spawning or teleporting on the see bed a few seconds after starting. Depth under keel is 75 meters and I am sailing on surface. So I can't go to 130 meter deep in seconds. Sudden spawning-teleporting and collusion. Loosing all man and end of the game. Started a few times to get same data like my location and deep level. It is happening every time.

GWX 3.0 Manual says:
Players will occasionally experience the ―Crash Dive of Doom, a known Silent Hunter III bug where your game is saved normally, but when you restart the game, your U-boat starts at the bottom of the ocean and sinks because it is far below crush depth. The workaround is to open the Campaign.LND, Campaign.SCR, and Campaign.RND files in "Notepad" or "Wordpad", change the
―Windspeed=0.000000 to ―Windspeed=4, and then restart the same save game again.
I did it but still "Crash Dive of Doom" is happening.
Has anyone got zoom working in this mod (in the ship camera, < key)?
I mean the mousewheel, telephoto, zoom-in-steps zoom, not the ability to move the wide-angle camera closer to the boat/ship. Which - unlike real, telephoto zoom- produces a distorted perspective when moved in too close. So you can't get an external view or screenshots with this sort of perspective...

I think the 3km range is for not preheated torps. And I think that most u-boats did preheated torps before attacking. So in most cases T2 had 5km range

I've started another career and gauges are working but in my old career they are not working.
In my experience you have to live with the broken gauges until you end your patrol, when you start your next patrol, they should be working again.
OneAlex one question please....where to patrol grid ASOW.... First time I see something like this

Edit: So... The 4 giga patch worked, this means you didnt apply it ? ..
Also everytime i want to start my patrol in 1940 = crash, but starting from 1939 september for example= works.....

Hey niktamer93, I've been playing OneAlex 1.xx, since version 1.23 and had issues at first. Not sure how I had missed it but to correct my crashing, I changed the SHIII.exe, SH3Cmdr.exe and JSGME.exe, to "run as administrator" and to run in the "Win7 Compatibility" mode. All had been perfect since. Try those adjustments and if that fixes your issues, you're gonna love this mod. Jerry CA45

Anyway it works if i start my career in 1939, in 1940 and more = crash..
D'ont really understand why but well, the magic of SH 3 i guess.
so i selected september 1939 just to have some action at least.

Sorry, I forgot to give you my PC specs. It has an i7 6700k, 16 Gb of ram, a 970 and the game files are on an SSD. Maybe it could be a VRAM-related issue?

After training with 31st U-boat Flotilla, U-2511 was transferred to 11th U-boat Flotilla at Bergen, Norway, for front-line service on 15 March 1945.
U-2511 conducted one patrol. On the evening of 30 April 1945 (coincidentally the date of Hitler's death), U-2511 set out from Bergen, Norway for the Caribbean, but on 4 May Schnee received the end-of-the-war cease-fire order. The commander of U-2511 claimed the U-boat had a British cruiser in her sights on 4 May when news of the German cease-fire was received. He further claimed she made a practice attack before leaving the scene undetected.

Thank you for the update. Had just gotten myself sunk in a v1.46 career and so updated to 1.48 for the next one.
Then did something probably dumb...
I thought to activate the lower resolution Widescreen 1360 x 768 Mod in an attempt to reduce loading times (currently ~20-minutes) but it did not speed things up and I did not like the GUI on my monitor as it lacked the station icons and for other reasons. Then JSGME was unable to roll back the Mod for whatever reason and so it seemed that activating it borked my entire v1.48 set up. The solution was to reinstall from scratch so now all is well with the update.
Your mod remains visually a real treat with the best elements of GWX3 preserved, thanks for your efforts.

The I fear that it will be difficult .. this one accepts that the resolutions that Onealex proposes in are mod is "Ahnenerbe" or "Widescreen MaGui modifier (1360 Х 768)" can be used a third program. .if this is the case i don't like this kind of proceeding..but if it allows you to play ..:hmmm:

Maybe I'm blind, but I can't find the button to zoom out on the Nav Map. TAB zooms in but then there's no way to zoom out? I'm playing on a laptop with a trackpad, no mouse wheel. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, is there an easy way to restore the "U" key to bring up the Uzo?
Just starting out with it but this seems like a fantastic mod.

Snorkel is available starting from January 1944. So we need to wait till date will be changed. When date is changed snorkel became available (1000 renown) but the date on main menu is not changed. Has somebody had any success in this supermod replacing the UI with DGUI 1920x1080?. I tried to push my luck with the DGUI versions made for LSH2020 and the one for GWX with no luck whatsoever, it reaches the message that follows when the mission load is completed and then, when the sub interior should appear on screen the game crashes to desktop. Only the supermod UI seems to work properly to me.

I was about the ask the same question about the GUI for onealex. Personally I am a fan of the stock GUI.
One another topic, When I try and load a save the game will CTD. I can create a captain in SH3Commander and start the game via that and get into the U-Boat fine but if I save and then close the game and open it again and try to load my save the game will crash.

Maybe I'm blind, but I can't find the button to zoom out on the Nav Map. TAB zooms in but then there's no way to zoom out? I'm playing on a laptop with a trackpad, no mouse wheel. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, is there an easy way to restore the "U" key to bring up the Uzo?
Just starting out with it but this seems like a fantastic mod.

There are some rules for game saves described in GWX manual. Also remember that sometimes saves are not working. This issue comes from GWX 3.0.

1 Stock GUI is not available in my modpack.
2 You should start the game via SH Commander (Single mission). After that create a new career from the game menu.

ah if you don't like the graphical interface or whatever else play something else .. it seems to me that Alex is doing his best here ... he offers 2 interfaces ... there are people fed up who cry all the time ... The modpack is made for my taste and my preferences. There are 2 GUI mods ARB Widegui (1920x1080 available by default) modified by me and Magui (1366x768) modified by me. I think it is enough for playing.

1 I have desided to reduce or do not increase traffic in ports to better game stability when there is an air attack on base and to keep FPS more than 40-50.
Adding a bigger files related to ports will reduce FPS and increase load on PC when there is an air attack. Player spend 99% time at sea so there is no reason to make detailed ports which may couse in some cases CTDs.

Hi. There are not a bugs. It is a feature. Just U-boat configuration for different periods. Game does not know in what place should be installed late war sensor.
When the radars and other sensors of the second half of the war become available in the game, then you need to activate the Late sensors compilation mod so that the sensor is in the right place.
This is described in GWX Onealex Edition Manual. But there is only russian text...

Any chance to face famous Riwalpandi again later 1940,1941....

I have sunk it in Scapa Flow after Gunther Prien's attack. Also there is small chance to sunk it in task force. But you should be lucky because many groups are randomised.

I've encountered a bug. After loading a save that I made after leaving Wilhelmshaven, all dials in the command room have their arrows pointing directly up. When I save&reload the issue persists. I tried starting a new campaign and saved near Helgoland and it happened again. In the second attempt I didn't alt+tab and I didn't use time compression greater than x256. I use SH3 commander with start date 09.1939 and chose 2nd u-flotilla.
Is this bug known? Is there a way to avoid it or fix it?

unfortunately it still happens. I saved in upper right corner of square grid AN48 and still get that issue.

I dunno, I tried everything. Reinstalled the game and the modpack 5 times. I also tried changing the compatibility modes and settings in nvidia control panel. I also moved it from HDD to SSD. The bug is unfortunately game-breaking for me - I can't use hydrophone because its arrow also points upwards and I can't move it.

Please read the readme file in my modpack. Delete all files related to Silent Hunter (folder C/Documents should be cleaned from SH files too). I recommend you unzip my modpack to any folder. After that start the game via SH Commander (SH3\SH3 Commander Eng folder).

OneAlex's GWX set, is NOT a mod set you add to SH3, as say CCoM, LSH3 2015, or NYGM... it is a complete stand alone... you simply unzip & can set it up any where, just not inside \Program files or \Program files (x86) (on a Windows computer.. not sure about on other systems than that.. :yep:)
If you have another SH3 set up, I'd strongly recommend including in OneAlex's set up, multiSH3, to assign it its own game save folder in documents, to keep them separate. :yep: if that isn't in there, already.. will have to check on that, as I don't recall if it is in there, or not.. right off hand. :yep:
To OneAlex... with your set up, did you run a 4GB patch with your set up...? :hmmm:

OneAlex by the way you are in right about large warships randomised in convoys,taskforces...We spoke before about that.... I sank HMS Warspite in English channel....He was sailing in centre of big convoy,very interesting,but I don't miss that opportunity:Kaleun_Applaud:
