To bring Original W-a-S bang up to date I'm adding an exciting new feature, since I think there should really be penalties in this game as in the others:-

(4) COUNT YOUR SQUIRRELS: Before you whack you must count the squirrels in the picture - then you must post a figure for how many you see followed by your whack. If you get it wrong (and this includes forgetting to whack) you'll forfeit your last score - no matter how big it was. This rule applies to ALL pictures, even when there's plainly only one squirrel - you must say "1 whack" or "1 whac" or "one whack" - whatever. And any part of a squirrel in the picture (like just a tail or a head) must be counted as a whole one would be

So woe betide those in a hurry or with itchy paws - I shall be merciless in enforcing this, no matter how much pleading there is

The idea is to give other players some additional time to react. We can see how it works next time - it can always be changed back, but I've always preferred the idea of having to think before whacking: it gives other players a chance instead of being just a game of quick-draw. It means that scores can go down as well as up, giving straggling players an incentive to keep going
