Hi all! While reading the latest posts didn't catch the idea re. this handle: the suggestion is -
1) to put it into interface instead accurate fire button or
2) to add it into torp. tube grahics (animation)?
If it is the first case then IMHO it is not worth to borrow with - the round button looks more accurate, do not "overload" players interface and makes it comfortable to manage with. And from the point of "historical immersion" both (button and desized handle) in the 'attack scope' (F3) interface seem no to be trouthfull anyway.

If it is the second one - then it is more the GR2 issue. :hmmm::salute:

As for me - both are good. Which one is better - depends upon light in the room when you are playing: the left is better for the darkened room, and the right - for the lightened:yep:

No i didn't. please take care that the diameter and the dimension of these file are not changed. it is important because the resolution pathes wont work as they should.

For me the main thing historicity and reality of the periscope and other units! On how many lenses in the periscope were dark or light hard to judge! Know about it only veterans of the U-Bootwaffe!

Oh don't worry about that...the idea is to make it much smaller and put it on the t lampentafel...this panel will substitute the tube selection panel in the top of the attack Uzo or obsscopes...After that i think about to show the bearing graticules like they habe been done in an interaface mod made by hitman...just dont have a screenshot..

Oh yes i think in the future we will have a release like that on every tube in the boat.

Just still wait for the time that in multiplay everybody play a member in the crew of the boot....just a dream:doh:

Based on the document you posted here, the three of them should be historically accurate.

Since SH3, I think, there has been a lot of discussion about the historicity of scope's reduced light transmission, even though many documents state openly that scopes (especially attack ones) were hardly used during cloudy or moonless nights, due to this problem.

I don't want to start a new debate here, but I've noticed that in SH5 there's no reason for using the obs scope or the UZO, unless we give them different luminosity values.

Even so, I am sure that many MaGui players won't like to look at their targets through dark, blurry lenses. All considered, I think that the best option will be making darkened scopes optional. :up:

As for the logos I'd go for the Carl Zeiss :yep:

For the Attack Scope (far left one) you could lose the 'Carl Zeiss marking' at 9 o'clock.
The position for the logos I'm not sure of.

So I should remove the previous 'Car Zeiss' label, on the left of the lens mounting? I am as well unsure that that one was the Zeiss trademark during 40's :hmmm:

Okay, I think I got an answer to our questions. Look at this webpage (http://www.binoculars-cinecollectors.com/html/body_german_p2.html#Winkelfernrohr10x26CarlZeiss) displaying a 1916 Carl Zeiss binocular telescope.

This is its brandmark and production nmber:

...but the caption says it was pressed below the right ocular, rather than on the ocular itself. Looking closely at the next image you can see its exact position (on top of the left eyepiece, since the persicope is photographed upside-down):

From what I can see, it seems tha at least on this model there wasn't any logo nor lettering pressed around the lenses. :hmm2:

different UIs completely.

In sober's mod most of the mods are compiled around NewUI by TDW. You can use a lot of those mods w/o NewUI though.

This was exactly my idea: making the indicator lamps clickable objects, so to keep the UI as clean as possible, avoiding the need for a torpedo switches panel.

Talking of it, this is the new version of the T-lampentafel:

As you can see, I've reskinned the panel to match the style of other MaGui panels. Looking at them, I've also noticed that several of them got an external shadowing effect around their borders. If you like it I can do the same with the T-lampentafel. Finally, I will move/resize the wiring as soon as you will decide the final on screen position of the panel. :up:


If i havew a look at this...how should we highlight the selection of a tube in this panel...just because we think about to throw to selection of the tube away in the top of the scopes...

When we will make the last decision on the use and position of the panel, I will prepare the last version. I even got a set of "straight" roman numbers, courtesy of Silent Steel, for replacing the distorted ones it currently features. :up:

Ok...the method Radcap used still does not work here...i have to wait until he response to my pm.

what have i done so far...i took care about the nightlayer...i don't use finished grafics for that now...i created white blank layers over gui where i want to have a layer..the color it has will be done by script...just saw that bitmap has a property called color...to release the next testversion i still have to make a few changes...single tests and addions...still also wait for response from uekel...he my have some charts for ship recognition.

I am a first time modder of this game and because I could find this mod, I downloaded and enabled w/JSGME, But when I start game up everything is in German lanq. So, how do I get it into English or where is English version to download???

I loaded from this site; I assumed it was English.

Now, I had a lot of trouble with the vinilla game, now I have to learn this, and I need some advise. Is there a thread or youtube video that explains all the new layout, then how to execute??

Also, if you use this Mod, what additions are worth adding to start. I'm new to modding, and I'd appreciate a couple of hints. Also, how does one delete profiles? I have Vista OS and I found saved games in my document file outside of PF(x86). But profiles are still there. Are profiles somewhere else??

Greetings @ all,

took some time to implement a new panel for the stadimeter.

here i have been inspirated by the one from reaper7 but here i still thought about to be able to to set the mastheigt manual with the dial. it will also work when you identfy a target and sent the data to the stadimeter. the button left and right are to start the stadimeter and the other to send the data to the tdc.

As a hint for the developer: The Radiobuttons on the torpedosolution.ini can be handled as checkboxes in the script.

now it is still a slide in element wich can be anchored by clicking on the screws (how else :woot:)

it is a logarithmic scale because i used here the stockl dial from sh5 and modified it little. The other way is a edit filed to input the mastheight with your keyboard...not realy realistic.

wich red mark do you mean?

So to get a range we ...
identify the ship, see the mastheight (25m)
count the clicks on the scope (4.3)
notice the scope and magnification (here 1 click = 0.25°)
calculate the arc of mastheight in degree (4.3 * 0.25)
use the distance formular mastheight_meter/(tan(mastheight_deg)) , to get dist. in meters (1332)

He was not commenting on your personal feelings or ideas toward some one hes was just stating on how not to say it. There are ways on stating how you dislike someone personally with out getting derogatory. I got commented on acronyming a swear word so its not just you its on how you said it.

That is something i will have a look at...remember...i just try to build up an Interface...not a super mod at all....a lot of things must be inculded manualy.

I do have v3 tho, but I'll have to redo my mods and get it in to try. It hasn't been overwritten by any mods so hopefully installing it last will work. And hopefully it'll all work but I need to get back to Lorient and dock first. I hope that works and a new campaign isn't needed. ;)

I love this UI and the one from TheDarkWraith :) For example I would love to have the speed charts from knots to kilometers converter chart. As far as I am concerned there is no scope lock-on feature... really missing that one.

I also encountered that the man the deck guns works, but when I want them to dismount it, it did not work well, the only way I got that to work is talking directly to dieter and telling him first to man the deck gun then dismount it.

One more thing I would like to point out, is that although the menu to selecting to correct officers, navigator etc are well made, (note that this is just a preference thingy) I found that in the TheDarkWraiths New Interfaces, it was more personal since you seen the crew men rather then the sation icons, I felt more connected to that, where I had more difficulties figuring out who is who with this icons.

It is also worth mentioning that I tell you this with using allot of other mods as well, I did not test this without any other mods. It worked well dispite it had a few bugs. It was also interesting that, whenever I set your mod as the first mod to be activated it worked how I discribed it, however when I set it as the last mod and then puting manos - scopes on it, when I then launched the game, it did not even appear which I found strange.

In anycase I hope this information can be of use to you I always tend to play this and TheDarkWraiths mod :cool: They are both unique in thier way and yet both lack something the other has.

I've uninstalled 3.0 beta and reinstalled 2.0 again. Menus are now back to English with 2.0. If you see this, or get my PM first Dr. J, an English menu patch is needed for 3.0 beta as I've searched and not found one yet.

That is it Doc. What does CSP Magui do for OHII and SH5? I'm just trying to understand what changes and or improvements Magui does as it is now, and what would the outcome would be if it wasn't installed. Would it break anything or cause problems with playability if it's not used. Am I surmising correctly they always need to be installed together.

The same could be asked as to what would happen if Magui was installed and OHII wasn't?

From what I can understand both should be installed together in SH5... one complements the other.

Thanks, I was getting a bit worried about my mental status there.

So,
IF you don't install the CSP Magui (or some other UI like the TDW's New UIs) you'll simply have the default interface.

IF you then have the OHII installed nothing else should happen than you'll get the features of the OHII.

The CSP Magui and the OHII aren't related in any way so just go ahead pick either one of them (or even better -both), your SH5 will run OK

I did not really have time to test in detail, but have noticed the following:

- Messages : I was able to increase / decrease size of window, but could not anchor it (mousing over the button shows "toggle".... entry line 6205 ?)
- I was unable to open the Time / Bearing Chart as shown in your screenshots
- I was able to lock the right console, but could not unlock it. ( expanding / closing the top of the right console worked fine)
- I could not open the advanced tools in the tool bar

Sometimes to toggle the anchor for the right console is a little tricky. Sometimes you have to click some more times on the lower left screw in the right console.
The Console wont move out ov sight if you have opened an suborder menu. Close it an try again.
i have marked an area in the right side of the messagebox. there is an area to click in to toggle the anchor for the messagebox.

The charts can only be called on the navigation map how i showed in the screenshot.

When I load it up and try to go to the bunker The sound and video bog down like it stuck in a loop. The mouse has guite await in movement and when it move it jump. My rating for this release is at best 2/5 points.
To say that this mod is a chistmas present ... is bold statement.
IMO it has alpha-status with bunch of errors, some design-failures but also some nice features such as the changeable course/rudder etc. changer (by clicking on the pin-extend), the fold-away command-line, sin-cos-tables etc.

I could not open/not find the "Angriefschibe" but from the pictures above i can say the errors in there a not corrected (markings are ca. 0.5° off). Also i bet the maneuvering board (created by sublynx) has also marking-errors (ca. 1 degree off) in there and this is not corrected. I have tried that ManeuveringBoard 3 or 4 months ago.

Hey mate. I tried it as a stand alone. I tried going from my campaign bunker and it CTD same as driffer63. I then tried from a historical mission it work except the big compass was in middle of screen and I could not get it to move. I then tried a new campaign and I got the big comass in the middle of screen which I couldn't close or move, and I could not get the control under the speech box in the lower rt corner. I hope this will help you . Thank LW

Is this a new clean installation of sh5 or have you still used some other mods before....

i wonder why the big compass apears...yes thats right a drag handle will come in the future for that one....there is a button in the lower left Console to toggle the big compass...

Even here the question...is this a clean installation of sh5?

I think that may be the Problem at all, that there may be some parts of other mods left in the game folder wich causes the problems.

I use a complete clean installation and does not have any of the problems.
i just tested it with the schleichfahrtmod by uekel and had no problems with the combination with other mods.

please try to make a new installation if you have the time and feedback the result please.

Hi all,

What you're discussing here sounds very much like what happened to me a couple of times.

The JSGME can get fed up with doing its job and simply mess things up. :o
Even if you're running just one mod the JSGME install might have gone corrupt and won't work correctly.
Especially if your JSGME install has been working hard for some time with a lot of activating/deactivating of mods.

Without knowing more in detail what is happening I'd suggest you have a look at the How to Fix Mod Soup Issues by Webster (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1228828&postcount=1)

Can't say if this is the answer to your issues but it could be worth a try.

Hi fromhell I had the same problem with V2 I could go to 100 meter if any deeper I would sink to the bottom unless I was going flank speed. I also was using OH2 so I wasnt sure which mod was doing it

Hey mate I tried silent steel way and a clean installed. I started a new campaign with v30 only and still got the compass in both mode after a few min of play. I went back to v2.0 and had no problem. I will wait for awhile and see what happen before I try 3.0. keep up the great work:up: LW

i just played around with the schleichfahrt mod by uekel with no problems...

but i think you should have a look at the mod list sober has created. think you have only to leave out the tdw ui mod...then everything will work...

This is very interesting indeed, I've never tried it myself with the Magui but I've seen others around here in the forum that obviously are running these together...

I'm testing Your MOD with a part of Sober list and I find some little bugs (little things) whith teleport.

Do You think to realize a little manual of You MOD ?

It's possible to change the style of the line to trace the course ?
